Ummmm the ls is a 3.1 v6 boss. as for the malibu itself. every motor in the 3000 series is has the same easy fix problems. 3100,3400, and 3800 all had issues with the manifold gasket blowing. and the rocker/lifter arm knock. Both easy to take care of. my 98 runs great after fixing those. and with a 300000 mile warrenty from vavoline I don't have to worry about it.
