@smscott711 #1, how do you know she's "popular"? #2, YOU may think she's not a good dancer but, it's a completely different culture in Turkey and they have different styles/opinions on what they consider good/bad dancing. Also, being a mostly muslim country, they're alot more conservative than, the US, UK, etc. and alot of the dances done on other versions of SYTYCD would be considered taboo or way too racy for them to televise or even perform.
@kelaltieri I understand respectfully there are different styles/opinions on what is good dancing however there are BASIC fundamentals of bellydancing that are not apparent in this video or other Asena videos such as posture. Her hips are not fully tucked, sloppy arm movements hunched shoulders.
@smscott711 I was not looking for an overly sexed, or "non-conservative" dance, muslim or not. I just want to witness good dance and this was not one of them so I will continue to look elsewhere. As for your defense about this being more "conservative" , I don't think the boob grab was very conservative.
@kelaltieri Turkish bellydance is more modern and athletic focusing more on detailed isolation whereas Egyptian style is more fluid and sensual (Egyptian style is the most recognized) but still with these differences in style her BASIC fundamentals are not there.

Why is this woman popular? She must have a great personality because it certainly is not because of her dancing.
