Why do people insist on putting such heavy rock music with these videos that bring fascination to the engineering? Classical music would have been much more thought conducive.
All crankshafts have counterweights to ensure the rotating components are in balance, some are forged as part of the crankshaft, some are bolt on components, just depends on the size and location.
#1 isx15 is single overhead cam #2 cat acert is sequential turbo not twin so its two stage so it means two diferant sizes not twin that would mean two turbos that are the same size mostly used on v stile motors.and it is the easiest one to tune .
@robby844 what cat truck engine has 2850 you fucking moron they wouldnt have a gearbox to take that type of torque the qsk 19 litre cummins set at 750 horsepower is only 2250
1 - Cat are no longer in the truck market because they can't build a Heavy duty engine that meets emissions.
2- they have never produced a similar capacity engine with more HP or torque than the Cummins.
3 - they are a DIESEL engine, they only do 2000 rpm! 4 bolt mains and rods would be a joke. Big difference between a gas race spec doing 8,000rpm to an engine doing 2000 rpm.
Better to keep your mouth shut and look like a fool than open it and remove all doubt.
@robby844 I believe the bolts are sized proportionally to the engine (large bolts being stronger) and being such a large diesel it wont make the revs to warrant 4 bolt mains.
@farmyardmassacre your kidding me right? the CAT puts out double the torque and almost double the HP and they have 4 bolt mains.the sad thing is even the four banger in the small excavator and skid steers have four bolt mains.
@robby844 You might be right I was only making the assumption that if the manufacturer has designed it this way, it's probably going to put up with the load intended for it.
@robby844 u must be comparing cat to a detroit. i drive an '08 pete 388 with an ISX and i've only come across a handfull of trucks that can run with it. and NO twin turbo cat has even come close.
@broken4813 good then.but i have seen enough flatcammins down with bad parts to know how shitty they really are.turbos fail, cams fail, rings fail, cranks seize, oil pumps fail. the list goes on and on.
I produce the components for these sort of engines that cummins supply... the tolerences are tenths of tenths of thou.

Why does this crankshaft have counterweights? I thought straight sixes didn't need that -_-

that engine would never run..
..because they forgot to fit the timing belt.
felinrheinallt 1 year ago
That would be because it uses timing gears.
No belts to replace at 70000km here my friend

@JCTech012 I must admit to my mistake. what came over me? probaby presumed because its got an over head cam

@66Buggo hey dumb ass look real close at the new max force engine. cat helped international with the design.

@66Buggo really? is that why CAT's torque rating is 2850? looks like you are the fool.look shit up before you spew bullshit

Hello.
I have a customer that wants me to produce an animation of a Cummins diesel. Is this model for sale?
tmoceri1 2 years ago
wow what a heap of shit.only 2 bolt mains? and 2 bolt rods?
robby844 2 years ago
if you had four main n rod bolts it would just add extra weight...

wow you know nothing about an engine.

@broken4813 hahahaha yeah the only thing that can run with the ISX is a detroit because you both are on the side of the road.

@robby844 although i strongly disagree i must admit, that was pretty funny. {:-)
