I can't believe I lost my friends in Youtube! Youtube sure has changed a lot. No wonder I don't received any updates from my friends here in Youtube. I just realized it now when I checked my channel my friend list were gone!
Fact, "friends" received updates "contacts" do not.
The old "friend" unlike the new "contact" was essentially the same as "subscribing" to a channel but even better, because both of you would receive each others "likes", "favorites", playlist additions and most importantly your "uploads" on the front page.
A "CONTACT" doesn't receive ANY of those at all, period. A contact is just a contact in your address book.
the new layout will totally ruin my channel, I have a channel focused on the band "Daughtry" I have most of the songs from their new album uploaded on my channel, my background is also a picture from Daughtry, and once this new layout is official, my channel won't even be a little bit unique anymore! isn't there something we can do? their messing up one of my favorite sites and we're just letting 'em do it? this is getting out of hand! I'm guessing that we'll have to pay too, eventually!

I had over 3000 friends removed, but where did they go? Simply completely removed? Sounds like it.. Otherwise, it should be under my subscriptions section. The biggest problem I have here is, they say they were filtering out my subscriptions, but I never subscribed to over 3000 channels. NEVER! My Subscriptions, have never been higher than now, at 512.

The obviously planned destruction of our YT community (removing of the friends module was just 'step 1') has nothing to do with NWO, and you don't need any conspiracy theories for explanation. This is simply the result of YT's new business model, designed and executed by Google in order to maximize the company's profit. In.this new model YT-users' content is no longer of major importance, our channels and socializing activities are simply dispensable,. and we will be downgraded to 'clickbots'.

@ccarrieb Got news. Mostly bad sorry to say but it's partly good for you. YouTube consolidated all of the channels we were *BOTH* subscribed to AND friends with, ALL into "Subscriptions" (not subscribers to you, but those you are subbed to). That 3000 you see is the remaining friends YOU were not subbed to already. At this point they will not see your activity and you won't see theirs. Those are NOW "Contacts" and NOTHING MORE, period, unless you can ASK them to sub you. :(
@wildcats8530 If you opt for the new channel design, you can return you CHANNEL to the old version, but you can not return to the old version of "YouTube" and friends are even gone on the old version...
@wildcats8530 if you have the new version now, i don´t know how, but try to search in the menu, searching for change for the older version, in my menu (older channel) it appears one link to try the new version, or go back to the older and make a report. Peace.

Most of my subscribers haven't been seeing my new uploads for quite a while. Maybe YouTube means well this time and are trying to fix it. I hope it's all for the best.
i'd say it's just a temporary blip because they're probably changing something else(yet again) but if it is permanent then it's obviously meant to make it harder to share videos( and we all know why that would be).

@SvrchovaneCechy @vudumojo I don't think that there's a conspiracy that deep. Yes, both are whores and sellouts but I don't think they have anything to do with each other. I just think that YouTube makes changes it doesn't quite need too. There are plenty of other ways they can reduce bandwidth loads. They can stop selling out and get rid of these multiple hour long videos for one thing. They never needed to change the channels like they did in 2009 and they didn't need to do this.

@ccarrieb Got news. Mostly bad sorry to say but it's partly good for you. YouTube consolidated all of the channels we were *BOTH* subscribed to AND friends with, ALL into "Subscriptions" (not subscribers to you, but those you are subbed to). That 3000 you see is the remaining friends YOU were not subbed to already. At this point they will not see your activity and you won't see theirs. Those are NOW "Contacts" and NOTHING MORE, period, unless you can ASK them to sub you. :(

Bottom line is YouTube made this confusing *so that* it would fly right over the heads of the majority of people making it difficult to understand.
The end effect is, they have deleted a massive amount of networking off of their servers with minimal complaining.
I just lost 772 viewers, you lost 3000.

@wildcats8530 If you opt for the new channel design, you can return you CHANNEL to the old version, but you can not return to the old version of "YouTube" and friends are even gone on the old version...

@wildcats8530 if you have the new version now, i don´t know how, but try to search in the menu, searching for change for the older version, in my menu (older channel) it appears one link to try the new version, or go back to the older and make a report. Peace.

I agree that this "new" YouTube is garbage. It seems that that only way to keep in contact and see what friends are doing is to subscribe...it's like YouTube is forcing everyone to subscribe if one wants to keep in contact to see former friends' activity. Maybe I'm wrong....what do you all think?

@reapwhatyousow74 There's hope anyway eh? Keep an eye on those contact numbers. Hopefully they are just shifting our friends into contacts and eliminating a "subfolder" essentially. Not sure if a "Contact" will receive updates as a "Friend" did before or not. I suspect even Subscribers will be eliminated and it'll be "Contacts" period.. Lost its personalization and friends. This has now pretty much lost its soul as if it already hadn't. I'll still watch videos and hang out here but it'll never be the same. Profile pics are puny. YOUTUBE is just like the EU doing all this..... Taking away our individuality, isolating us and not giving us a say on what WE want!
They say they are listening to us, yet every couple of days a tiny change here, a tiny change there.
Why the need for change, Youtube? WHY?
WE made Youtube what it is today - WE did - not the money the ads bring in.
It really is difficult to keep track of friends here now... almost not worth bothering anymore.

@RustArtRed The rumor sounds about right. It does look like their end goal is to consolidate "Friends", "Subscribers" and "Subscriptions" all into "Contacts", eliminating all of those *subfolders* of our contacts list. Maybe it's the only way they can manage this huge site.
Most of my subscribers haven't been seeing my new uploads for quite a while. Maybe YouTube means well this time and are trying to fix it. I hope it's all for the best.
