I don't understand why such a highly respected player over the years would demean himself with the "fake shredding" repertoire; he is so much better than that. You would think that he would be conscious of the fact that professionals can tell the difference. After all the years he's been playing, he shouldn't need to resort to this crap either.

People that keep talking shit about the new stuff, Everlasting, spiritual canoe, and King of pain are amazing albums. Hes become a better musician over the years, and it obvious when you listen to different eras. And his solo albums are ALL amazing, especially made in hawaii.

Hes almost 50 now & still rocking. This guys playing just gets better, & better. I never understood why people didnt like the newer albums. They we're heavier, & different. That doesnt make them bad, just because you cant grasp the fact that bands like to change around their sound sometimes. Then again most people believe their "opinion" is fact when in fact everything is subjective unless it is a fact. Like the fact that bands change their sound. It would be boring if you couldnt experiment.

Always wodnered what guitar he uses is it ESP?? i know one thing for sure considering the tapping style and technique hes definetly influenced by EvH

He is using a Killer brand guitar. It is a Japanese brand like ESP, but much smaller.

I used to think this guy was awesome! Akira actually beat EVH in a guitar mag comp!!!

Yeah, I don't know what happened, but in the 90s his playing really went downhill. His recent offerings with Loudness have been supremely lacking (other than maybe Spiritual Canoe through Biosphere).

@lostwoods Can't agree with you more. His newer stuff is flat-out embarrassing. His last good album was Wa. One thing is certain, Akira has always tried to change his persona with trends and time, which would explain why he's horrible now and also why he was technically a better guitarist in the 80's.

i think akira probably is the most underrated guitarist
his tapping is incredible and so complicated ! listen to songs like S.D.I ,in the mirror and dream fantasy you'll see what i mean ,
