  • Was that around Bourke St. in Surry Hills Sydney?

  • @elbeasto71 Chippendale.

  • Thanks for sharing. Good thing to learn from.

  • Hay!! thanks for the great video!! i learned many things!!

i have a question, can i use standard canon kit lens (18-55) to shoot like this?

  • @martsyeko practice and learning the skills is more importantant than gear, especially when starting. Yes- go make good use of your 18-55.

  • You aren't serious. What was the point of finding a backdrop and then blacken it out basically? Unless you used it at the end. Had to stop watching halfway. It was like watching paint dry.

  • just watched all the strob videos now great info really helped me out nice and simple thanks again

  • @ThePhotographybysimo great to hear, thanks for the feedback.

  • i love your videos matt! you deserve more subscribers! i've just got a question. i'm getting into strobist work and i'd like to know what's you recommendation for my first flash? sb-700 or 900? cheers!

  • @irvcens Out of those two, 900 is most versatile as it has the sync port. But you dont need anything that expensive - look for an old one.

  • What camera do you use, D700?

  • @1rhett1 In this shoot, yes D700

  • nice vid again!

may i ask how does SB-900 trig the SB-700, without using another PW?

    tnx!

  • @Kuyamoko Hey mate, check out my earlier video on equipment/flashes.

The 700 - along with all the flashes I choose to use - has an optical slave function. So when it see's the flash from the 900, it automatically fires at the settings I have it on. Cool huh?

  • @thatnikonguy

ah ok got it! i thought it will work on SB-900 and SB-600

    anyway tnx, more videos! :D

  • @Kuyamoko Great! You can buy old flashes too - many have the slave (SU-4) feature - I like the SB26.

any requests re new videos? And have you joined the facebook page? Share some pics with us!

  • o you should set up a facebook just for this type of stuff kind of like a fan page

  • @bwinn10 Hey mate, no need to apologise - nice to get into a dialogue.

That is very sweet of you to say - too nice though! Makes we worry you are going to try and sell me some web promo package... "you're videos are great, you should get more hits - sign up to this referral service..." haha

If you use facebook or other social networking - please share my channel. Would love it to grow through natural referrals :)

  • @thatnikonguy No i just really love this channel you reply to your comments and you give us real world technique and you are very good. i always loved photogophy but just got back into it a couple years ago right now im trying to make a living from it. but thats pretty much it i love wildlife, candid, sports everything lol i just set up a water drop shoot that i think come out pretty cool ill send some of those pics in

  • @bwinn10 Oh and Billy - so you are a photographer? Tell me a bit about yourself.

I am going to put up a video soon calling for people to send pics, and to get a forum going for those learning strobist techniques. I hope you will get involved.

  • you probley already said it but have you used the pocket wizard mini? im asking becase i just learned it works of radio waves and does not even need to see the flash to work.

  • @bwinn10 Hey mate, I could be wrong, but I think all Pocket Wizards are radio devices - certainly none require line of sight. And it's because of that they can kind of legitimately discourage grey market imports, as each country has different regulations on what radio channels can be used for this gear.
