The only way he could have survived would have been to bail out with a parachute before the plane struck the ground. The purpose of Fossett's flight on September 3, 2007 wasn't aerobatics, so it's likely that he wasn't equipped with a parachute that day. Conclusion: He was killed on impact, and animals carried his remains away piece-by-piece over the following days. A year later, no remains are to be found.
They believe he actually survived the crash, but succumbed to his injuries on the ground, or was unable to fend of animals. This theory because the 5 point was found near the wreckage, but was opened up
@LuvSilly 5 Point refers to the style Harness/seatbelt he was wearing. They consist of a belt over each shoulder, one coming around each side of the waist, and the 5th coming up between the legs. The buckle release was a round buckle that was found some distance away from the aircraft. They believe this particular harness would have been very difficult for a animal to accidentally release, so they believe he released the buckle, exited the aircraft, then succumbed to his injuries.
Thank Yoy
