As for being prepared more in the 80's I'm not so sure. If the Argentinian forces had known the Brits where close to running out of ammunition they may have fought on. It may have be a different outcome then.

@glothdarien most of our soldiers were conscripts actually. The role that the UK played on that conflict isn't something to be proud about. Here in argentina, we've condemned our genocides and the regime that carried to that war, and the country was weak and divided then. Things today would be just different.
@glothdarien Let me tell you a few things. I was 2 Para from74-97. It was my battalion that captured Goose Green. 450 men against approx 1400 Argies. In every battle you had superior numbers AND you had superior firing positions. Even with recruits, you should have done a lot better. All your lads had to do was shoot whatever appeared in front of them. 2 Para didnt know the ground, where the mines were and they had to fight their way to your trenches. 2 Para were out in the open to be shot at.
Respond to this video...Whilst your blokes were below ground in trenches, protected. You also had several anti aircraft guns. These fast foring 20 and 30mm cannon ALONE, should have won you the battle. If you want to know the real villain here, it was your senior soldiers/ncos, the non conscripts. THEY left your blokes out in the cold/wet, in poor shelter. They should have shown your conscripts how to construct shelters and what sort of routine they should be doing to spot us.

@grummanf14tomcat1 Another Argy loony quoting total BOLLOCKS. WHAT submarine did you sink? We sank your sub, the Santa Fe. It beached itself rather than sink. You only sank ONE major ship that affected the campaign and that was the Atlantic Conveyor. Spare helicoptors and Aircraft were onboard. The oher ships sunk were valuable but not invaluable. To sink one of our subs you need to be at sea. Your navy fucked off after we sank the Belgrano and never came back.

The Malvinas were seized by force by Britain in 1833 and the colonists who live there have no right whatsover to 'opt out' of Argentinian jurisdiction. The UK's stance is hypocritical when you consider the population of Diego Garcia, who were forcibly deported from the island by the British government. Not much respect for self determination there!

As for being prepared more in the 80's I'm not so sure. If the Argentinian forces had known the Brits where close to running out of ammunition they may have fought on. It may have be a different outcome then.

Many british soldiers died on Malvinas, and actually the relation would be of 1 to 1 if we don't count the argentinian soldiers that died on the general belgrano, which was shot outside the exclusion area. Think about that.

Here in argentina, we've condemned our genocides and the regime that carried to that war, and the country was weak and divided then. Things today would be just different.

@glothdarien Let me tell you a few things. I was 2 Para from74-97. It was my battalion that captured Goose Green. 450 men against approx 1400 Argies. In every battle you had superior numbers AND you had superior firing positions. Even with recruits, you should have done a lot better. All your lads had to do was shoot whatever appeared in front of them. 2 Para didnt know the ground, where the mines were and they had to fight their way to your trenches. 2 Para were out in the open to be shot at.

Respond to this video...Whilst your blokes were below ground in trenches, protected. You also had several anti aircraft guns. These fast foring 20 and 30mm cannon ALONE, should have won you the battle. If you want to know the real villain here, it was your senior soldiers/ncos, the non conscripts. THEY left your blokes out in the cold/wet, in poor shelter. They should have shown your conscripts how to construct shelters and what sort of routine they should be doing to spot us.

We had SAS on your mainland, reporting when your a/c took off so we knew you were coming. The USA gave us nothing except the AIM 9J missile for our Harriers. They did offer us a Large Carrier as they said the job was impossible without one (to be crewed with Brits). We said no and just used what we had.
