The same thing happened to me, I didn`t like it the very first time but I learned to love it and I got addicted to it! LOL! I tried it for the first time when I visited Greece and now that I `m back home I want to try it again, thx for the recipe.
The reciepe is a success because the MAN gves the order to the woman on how to chop the cucumber. Beware MEN! Never do step into the kitchen doing a greek reciepe. That is the kigdom of the wife or the mother's in law. Just ask with a furious manner of what you would like to have and never seem totally satisfied at the end. Enjoy greek cooking : )
finally a tzatziki recipe without dill ! i strain my yogurt with a cheese cloth (if you dont want to pay extra $ for greek yogurt) -have it hanging somewhere so the liquid can drip. you could also throw in a dash of red wine vinegar.. wont hurt it.
Thanks for the comment we appreciated, now to answer your question the lemon is real fresh squeeze and pout it on the container so is to show that is lemon.
i had to make this all the time when i was working at greek returant. I remenbered the first time i ever tried it i was like yuck..but over time i learned to love it.
I have a hard time finding greek yogurt at the store. Most American grocery stores are so anti-ethnic food is disgusting. Plain yogurt will do, but it never tastes as good. I would have added a little more salt though, yogurt and cucumber can be very bland with just a squirt of lemon.
My ex-girlfriend is Cypriot and she showed me to dry the cucumber after squeezing by pressing it between paper towels. Also kirby cucumbers are used and the skins are finely diced and added.
I love tzatziki!!
leobulero80, please, stop be creepy, there's no such thing as "too much garlic".
Too much garlic is why I'm 50 and stronger and healthier than an young ox!
Thanks for your intrest..... pour yogurt in a coffee filter over any strainer and let it drain, in the refrigerator for 4/5 hours. visit my website rvezcooking for more.
Thanks for the comment and thank you for visiting my country.....
