The Bloodhorse 1999 on Easy Goer. "Easy Goer MET those dreams and expectations embodied in his powerful chestnut frame, and authored an unforgettable Hall of Fame championship career, and will always be mentioned in the same breath with the GREATEST horses of ALL TIME."...Always will be mentioned with the greatest horses of all time.Easy Goer may not have been Secretariat, but who was?
Easy Goer ONLY ran the record 3 yr old mile of all time in 1:32:2?? NO. Easy Goer ran that record mile, second fastest Belmont of all time, right on track record at 6.5f at 2,among the top 5 all time fastest Champagnes(8f) at 2,fastest 7f of the year in Florida, right on the track records in the 9f Whitney,10f Travers & 10f Suburban! One race??That is 6.5f,7f,8f,9f,10f,12f.And the only horse ever to win the Belmont,Whitney,Travers,Woodward&Jockey Club Gold Cup.
Wonderful collage, I agree. There is no secret why Beyer stated that from a speed-performances standpoint, Easy Goer ran faster and better than Slew,Affirmed and Bid at the ages of two and three years old.
That is my very handsome good friend. I was so blessed to see him race three times, and even more blessed to hug him and give him sugar at Claiborne, where so many of the great ones came from. I miss him so much, my big strong handsome friend. If Pat Day could ride one single step, no one would ever have beaten him. Pat Valenzuela and Charlie Wittingham know that. We all know it. RIP my handsome boy. Thanks to the wonderful person who put this collage together.
Very true. Like the Bloodhorse book states in Easy Goer's article, "Easy Goer met those dreams and expectations embodied in his powerful frame and authored an unforgettable Hall of Fame racing career, and will always be mentioned in the same breath with the greatest of all time", and that is in spite of the awful, start and stop, start and stop, stop and start, start and stop riding that cost him by a nostril and desperate neck in two outs.
Easy Goer was simply the vastly faster racehorse! Easy Goer ran seven or eight 120+ or higher beyers in his career(that is double the amount of any horse since Bid, including Ghostzapper,Skip Away,Cigar,Holy Bull,Alysheba,Zenyatta,Curlin,Tiznow, etc) while SS ran ONE in his career, ONE! What was the great great equalizer? Pat Day's own admitted despicable riding which cost him by an inch and desperate neck in two races.
I DONT GET IT U BUYS STATE THAT EASY GOER IS ONE OF THE ALL TIME BEST BECAUSE HE LOST 2 RACES BECAUSE OF BAD RIDES BY PDAY. WHAT ABOUT HIM GETTING BEAT HANDILY BY SUNDAY SILENCE IN THE KENTUCKY DERBY AND LOSING THE BREEDERS CUP JUVENILE BY A LENGTH TO PINCAY AND IS IT TRUE, AN AVERAGE RACE HORSE AT BEST???? WHATS THE EXCUSE THERE???
@gordovike Do you have any knowledge of racing history??? Easy Goer BEAT Is It True 3 times before the Juvenile. He beat him by 4 lengths in one of the fastest Champagnes of all time.He beat him by 4 lengths in the Cowdin(when it was also a G1),and he beat him handily in a maiden race. Easy Goer hated one track, and it was Churchill Downs.Much like other greats like Holy Bull,Damascus,Point Given,Skip Away,Go For Wand, and many others who hated that specific track.
NO i dont have any knowledge of racing history, i just watch the replays of the races i refer to and write my humble opinion.
Moreover, it appears that what you are saying is that there are many excuses for easy goer not winning 3 of 4 of the biggest races in the sport. Congratsa and enjoy.
@gordovike Easy Goer romped over Is It True in 3 races(2 of them G1 races) before the Juvenile,&didn't handle the quirky, sticky, peanut buttery Churchill track, which was the one track he didn't handle in his career, much like Skip Away,Holy Bull,Point Given,Go For Wand,Native Dancer,Damascus, etc all the same as Easy Goer. Why did SS lose 5 times in his career, getting trounced by 8 lengths &losing a G2 race? Why did Secretariat lose 5 races?Citation lose 4 of 5 to Noor?Forego,Kelso, etc
@PhippsStable Why Easy Goer impressed you so much more than Secretariat? Are you not aware of his performances? What one race Easy Goer ever had that would match Secretariats? His record 1 mile carrying 123 lbs.in 1:32 2/5? Don't you know his own trainer doubted that time because the track was running so fast? Didn't you know Bill Finley said it was a 'Extraordinary fast track and Steve Crist said it was a 'Spectaculary fast track? You decide, its not my words.
@PhippsStable Their is no doubt GZ or Groovy doesn't compare with The Easy. I will not take nothing away for his 1 mile in 1:32 2/5 but his own trainer, Finley & Crist did. Believe me I was one of many probably was hoping Easy Goer would have broken all of Secretariats records. He was my favorite at the time but he let me down. Still I think very highly of him & hope some day there will be a horse that will out perform Secretariat.but only may happen in someone's dreams.(smile)
@gordovike Cont. Why did Secretariat lose 5 times in his career, 2 of them by over 4 lengths? Why did Citation lose 4 of 5 races to Noor,& lose 13 races? Why did Sunday Silence lose 5 races, get trounced by 8 lengths,&lose a G2 race?Excuses? Why did Dr Fager lose 2 of 4 to Damascus? Why did Kelso lose 3 of 4 to Beau Purple,&lose 24 times in his career? Why did Forego lose 2 of 3 to Wajima,&lose 23 times? Why did Bid lose 4 times &lose the 2 biggest races at 3?Why did Affirmed&Buckpasser lose 7 times
@PhippsStable You forgot to mention why Easy Goer lost 6 races out of 20. Lost 3 of 4 to the same horse. Excuses? Oh, I forgot, you said it was all Pat Day's fault & the sticky Derby track. Thats a new one on me. You need not to go very far to understand the reasons why Big Red lost. Go & read 'The unbeatable Horse' & Bloodhorse Steve Haskins will tell you. You talk about Andy of what he said of Easy Goer & I will tell you what he said of Secretariat.
Easy Goer ran so many of these top ten all time performances in his career, and Easy Goer ran these all time ten performances at every distance, 6.5F,7F,8F,9F,10F,12F. Easy Goer had that all timer top ten speed-stamina record combo, talent, ability, constitution.
Not only Mister Crist and many others, but the Bloodhorse top 100 book in the Easy Goer article also states, "Easy Goer will ALWAYS be mentioned in the same breath with the GREATEST of ALL TIME", despite the two awful kid gloves and baby hands rides that defeated him a nostril and desperate neck in two outs.
Same thing I said, just different words from Crist, "Easy Goer would be mentioned in the same reverential breath as Man O'War,Secretariat and Citation, and his campaign acclaimed the greatest in racing history, if not for the 2 typically atrocious rides that got him beat a nose and desperation neck in 2 races." Same thing, just different words.
Overrated? No Hall of Fame champion racehorse who ran the fastest mile of all time by any three yr old in 1:32.2,smashing Secretariat's record by a full second,a tick off Dr. Fager's world record, ran the second fastest Belmont of all time, ran many of the best, most prestigious races(Champagne,Gotham,Belmont,Swale,Travers,Whitney,Suburban,6.5f as a two yr old)right on track records at all distances, and got beat an inch and desperate neck in two races because of despicable Pat Day riding, can be.
Easy Goer's superbly overhwhelming record three year old mile of all time in 1:32.2, thrashing Secretariat's mark by a full second, a tick off Dr. Fager's world record, and his devastating, monster, second fastest Belmont of all time are the two greatest performances since Bid in 1980, and Easy Goer's Whitney and Travers are truly not far off those two.
Secretariat, Sea Bisquit, Stripes... whatever... I think Easy Goer is the best story out of all of horseracing to ever come out, Make an Easy Goer movie and I'll pay to watch!! That 1989 campaign and the Sunday Silence rivalry is unequaled in history!! Easy Goer for ever baby!!!
@trevinboy I am Totally Agree with you For Easy Goer movie 1st. Show i shall be ready to pay at least 100 $ I Calculated every thing HE WAs THE best Horse ever Born to race ...Who have done Fastes Gotham Who has done as a 2 Yeear old 6 1/2 Furlong in 1: 15 & Change .. With out side trip He done 2nd Fastes Belont Almost broke Whitney & Travers....Records Why Some fan Compare him he belong to top !0 ..no He is thje only one the best o All !
Easy Goer was always no doubt whatsoever a top ten thorobred in talent, ability, speed, stamina, as evidenced by his many top ten thorobred performances in his career, but the two ridiculously bad rides that got him beat a nose and neck sent him down into the thirties where ss always belonged.
Easy Goer was one of the rare Hall of Fame all-time greats that combined blistering, record speed at a mile and a thoroughly genuine and extraordinary stamina also. One of the rarities indeed.
Easy Goer will always be mentioned in the same breath with the greats of all time, with his top ten horse performances time and time again, despite the two awful rides that got him beat a nostril and neck. SS was never nor will ever be mentioned with the Secretariat, Dr. Fager, Kelso, Buckpasser, Damascus, etc.
No doubt at all that Easy Goer, the better racehorse, only got beat by two appalingly awful rides by a nostril and neck. Clearly awful rides, so much so, that Day said it himself.
Easy Goer, Salute and tribute to the TRUE and REAL Hall of Fame champion great who could run any distance and run any and all distances sensationally brilliant, and SS could NOT!! EG only got beat a nose and neck by two TERRIBLE terrible rides.
Easy Goer's record three year old mile of all time in 1:32.2, thrashing Secretariat;s mark by one full second, a tick off Dr. Fager's world record, and his complete domination, monster, second fastest Belmont Stakes of all time, are the two greatest performances since Bid in 1980.
Easy Goer was one of the rare Hall of Fame greats who combined blisterin, record speed at a mile and a thoroughly genuine and brilliant stamina also. One of the rare ones.
Easy Goer will always be mentioned in the same breath with the greatest of all time, in spite of the two awfulr rides that got him beat a nostril and neck. SS was never nor will ever be mentioned with the Dr Fager's, Secretariat, Kelso, Buckpasser, Damascus, etc.
Easy Goer was always no doubt at all a top ten thorobred in talent and ability, as his many top ten thorobred performances proved, but the two ridiculously bad rides that got him beat a nose and neck, put him down in the thirties where ss always belonged.
Day's riding was not just atrocious on his part, but he was completely outridden. But then again, Day was outridden and dominated by so many jockeys, so many.
In the Preakness, Valenzuela was the one playing games by taking EG out to the middle of the track down the backstretch, Day overreacted and got angry and sent EG through a much much too premature monster bullrush down the backstretch, then is outmanuevered for the stretch, getting trapped down in tight scraping the rail and Valenzuela baging him down in even tighter, then Day jerks his head right before the wire to cost him. Horses run faster with their heads straight.Three huge mistakes by Day
Easy Goer, Hail to the REAL and TRUE Hall of Fame champion great who could run any distance and run any distance from sprinting to mile to classic to marathon and ss could NOT!! NOT!! EG only got beat by two terribly bad rides by a nose and neck.
You guys are pathetic. Still can't get over it. Easy Goer lost, had the lead, and SundaySilense ran him down in the Preakness. In the Derby, wasn't close. BOOHOO HOO! Ok, he took the Belmont. The results remain as they are. Can't change the race results. They'll always be this way. Get over it. You can slam a Kentucky Derby winner, but you won't take anything away.Too bad King Glorious wasn't injured. He may have beaten both of them. What's next for you? War Admiral should have beaten SeaBiscuit?
Easy Goer's record three year old mile of all time in 1:32.2, thrashing Secretariat's record by one full second, a tick off Dr. Fager's world record, and his complete domination, monster, second fastest Belmont Stakes of all time, are the two greatest performances since Bid in 1980. And Easy Goer's Whitney and Travers are not far off these two as well.
Easy Goer will always be mentioned in the same breath with the greatest of all time, with his many top ten horse performances in his life, despite the two appalingly awful rides that beat him a nostril and neck. SS was never, nor will ever be mentioned with the Dr Fager's, Secretariat, Kelso,Buckpasser, Damascus, etc
Like so many of the racing experts stated so correctly, including Paul Moran, "Easy Goer was the better and more spectacularly and extraordinarily talented horse, but was defeated by an inch and desperate neck because Pat Day rode him like the exposed end of live wire." So correct and true.
Easy Goer was always without any doubts a top ten thoroughbred in talent and ability, with all his top ten thorobred performances at all distances proved as evidence, but the two ridiculously bad rides that got him beat a nose and neck put him down in the thirties where ss always belonged.
Pat Day ONLY rode Easy Goer atrociously in two races? NO, NOT!! Typical Pat Day atrocious rides on so many: Sky Classic in the 92'BC Turf and 92'Arlington Million, Turkoman in the 86'Classic, Forty Niner in the 88'Derby, Java Gold in the 87'Jockey Club,Heavenly Prize in the 94'Distaff and 95'Beldame, Seeking the Gold in the 89'Met and 88'Haskell &Travers,Menifee in the 99'Derby,Paradise Creek in the 94'Japan Cup,Surfside in the 99'BC JuvF,Banshee Breeze in 99'Distaff, and so many more.Typical
And plenty of jockeys were far superior to Pat Day, the worst jockey. Cordero OWNED Day, but then again most jockeys owned Pat Day. Cordero,Bailey, etc. Cordero not only owned Pat Day, but he could race ride with the best of them, and play games like Valenzuela played.
CHARLIE Whittingham? Whittingham called Easy Goer a super horse, and said that Easy Goer ran the best mile and mile and a half races he ever saw. He also said that he thought ss could beat EG if things go his way.

(cont)I know, I was there. Charlie (trainer Whittingham) wanted something around 1:36 or 1:35.3 at most. Chris Mccarron just let him go out easily on his own without prodding and he burned the track. But other things cannot be measured by a final times of a racing clock; heart, desire, grit, determination. I salute both and give equal billing in that pantheon of great thoroughbreds, the Hall of equine Heroes and remembrance of the performances that we were all able to be witness to.
And some other jockey other than Pat Day would have ridden EasyGoer to victory? Could it not be that the horse couldn't be positioned in a place where he could run from behind and catch an equally talented h orse? That's where my bet is. You guys should take Shug's perspective giving both Sunday and EasyGoer equal footing, saying that both could beat each other, and did just that. If you've got EastCoast bias, i'm OK with that. But that a cowhocked and ill-conformed horse could beat an Alydar

Easy Goer, the two greatest performances since Spectacular Bid in 1980, in his record three year old mile of all time in 1:32.2, and his monster, complete domination second fastest Belmont Stakes of all time.
Easy Goer was always no doubt whatsoever a top 10 throughbred in talent and ability, with many of his top ten thorobred performances he acheived as proof, but the two extremely atrocious rides that got him beat a nose and neck, put him down in the thirties where ss always belonged.
Like the expert stated so correctly, "Easy Goer was the better and more extraordinarily and spectacularly talented horse, but was defeated by a whisker and desperate neck because Pat Day rode him horribly, rode him like the exposed end of a live wire." So correct and true.
Easy Goer was one of the rare, greats that had blistering, record speed at a mile, along with a brilliant and genuine stamina as well. One of the rare greats indeed.

colt out of a Buckpasser mare, that is truly amazing. Some things can't be quantified in a pedigree, in dosage, or confirmation. And it was not just a neck and a nose, having won the Derby by 2 1/2 lengths. And almost beating Dr. Fager's 1:32.2 mile by a tick, yes, that's a fantastic feat. But that same summer of 1989, Sunday Silence recorded a workout at DelMar racetrack in a blistering 1:33.2. The workout so stunned the crowd, you could hear a collective jawdrop that could hit the ground.

I'll be damned if that horse wasnt watching the crowd coming down the grandstand side in the home stretch in all his races...beautiful tribute. Thanks for sharing
Easy Goer was no doubt about it, a Top five or ten all time thoroughbred racehorse in talent and ability, but the two atrocious rides that beat him a nose and neck cost him.
Easy Goer will always be mentioned with the best of all time. Record three year old mile of all time in 1:32.2, second fastest Belmont of all time. A rare true great one indeed.
Slew03, Great horses don't win by kagging out(lucky things) Sunday Silience won two race being lucky and in the one he had no luck he got beat, not by a nose or a neck or two lenghts but by 8 lenghts!!!!!!
Easy Goer was one of the rare ones who was blessed with blistering, record speed, along with a brilliant, genuine stamina to go with it! One of the rare ones indeed, special champion.
Easy Goer- "New York, New York's Easy Goer, King of the hill, top of the heap." Easy Goer, "Concrete jungle where dreams are made of, There is nothing you can't do, now you are in NY. These streets will make you feel brand new, Big Lights will inspire you. Let's hear it for Easy Goer."
Easy Goer, a champion for the ages, a campaign for the ages! Record three year old mile in 1:32.2, second fastest Belmont Stakes of all-time, what a horse, a monster of a champion.
Easy Goer- no thoroughbred will ever, nor has ever, been able to pull off that historic run of the Belmont, Whitney, Travers, Woodward and Jockey Club Gold Cup! Magnificent champion
Easy Goer would no doubt be in the Top 5 or 10 of all time if not for a couple of terrible, terrible rides..He is still mentioned with some of the best ever anyway.
Easy Goer is one of the best Hall of Famers to ever look through a bridle. The greatest mile of all time run by a three year old in 1:32.2, the greatest mile and a half of all time sans Secretariat! And a truely historic, unprecedented campaign for the ages!
Easy Goer, monster performance after monster performance after monster performance. Greatest three year old mile ever, and only Secretariat was faster ever in any Belmont. His campaign for the ages after that!
Easy Goer was absolutely the best horse I ever saw. A Hall of Famer in every sense of the word. Tremendous loss to lose him at suck a young age. What a great.
Easy Goer was one of the greatest Hall of Famers of all time. To run one of the greatest mile and a halfs of all time, after he had run the greatest mile of all time by any three year old. And after that, to go on to that historic and brilliant campaign. What a great Hall of Fame Champ he was.
Easy Goer was spectacular, one of the best horses ever. Easy Goer was like a russian tank, a powerful tank with a damn big motor. And he had that brilliance at a mile, at 6.5F,at 9F, 10F and 12F! What a great legend.
Hi langua92 you are right he was i think the best ever born looking at his excuses on lost races .Many thNKS THIS VALUED UP LOAD .I ALREADY ADDED TO MY FAV.
Rffchamp1, Easy Goer may not have been the greatest thoroughbred of all time, but he certainly can be mentioned with some of the greatest thoroughbreds of all time.
I think people after reading your comments Champeen, will understand why I used to call you the Parrot! Its your habit taking things people say to you ,and repeating them right to those very people! The fraud thing is a perfect example,I allowed YOU to expose yourself as a "horseracing" fraud, dare I say vegetable! I did it months ago,and all you can do is wail that only a fraud would be on YT for 2 yrs,ETC. Champeen you had better go look in the mirror,LOL!! projection doesn't work, deal with it!
Looky here it seems we got a new yorker who likes to say I'm a fraud, when he didn't evenknow where the hell the 3/8 pole is on a 1 mile track! Didn't even know why horses need to switch leads in a race, had to look up blinkers on wikipedia to find out what they were for,I know that because he repeated wiki's definition word for word, and he only got part of it right, because thats all they knew!!All this from a guy who likes to project his weaknesses upon others!! Didn't know what blinkers are for
Those giant strides of Easy Goer were a sight to see. He was an extraordinary thoroughbred with the rarity of having blistering record speed at a mile, and also possessing genuine brilliant stamina also, one of the very few who had both.
Easy Goer-the Greatest 3yo Campaign since Secretariat, as he ran the Fastest Mile Ever run by any 3yo in History, and the 2nd Fastest Test of a Champion ever run behind only Secretariat!! And he reeled off that Quintuple Crown of the Belmont-G1, Travers-G1, Whitney-G1, Woodward-G1 & Jockey Club Gold Cup-G1, the Only horse ever to do that in history!!

When I call you out about it,you show up and say crap like "sicko psycho BE breeds SH#T,bash my teeth in,I'm still waiting" Thats a fact and it is 100% true!
Easy Goer- a Great Tribute to a horse who ran the Fastest Mile Ever run by ANY 3YO in History, and for a horse who ran the 2nd Fastest Test of a Champion Belmont Stakes in the history of the sport behind only Secretariat, and to a horse who had the Greatest 3yo Campaign since Secretariat!! Easy Goer was Awesome and Amazing!!
YOU are the Nut who calls videos your turf and then proceed to get blocked from those very videos not me, YOU are the Nut who threatens to bash my teeth in, YOU are the nut who calls people on utube asshole, jackass, etc, and YOU are the Nut Fraud trainer, as no trainer in the world would have time everyday for the last 2 years for all this Nut things!!
I think the facts speak for themselves. When is the last time I used babble like "sicko psycho BE breeds Sh#t,BE wants to bash my teeth in,BS"???????? The answer is never not one single solitary time, but you have done this sort of nonsense for how long??? Thats how I know you can't deal with lodical intelligent people like me and many many others.

EASYGOER4LIFE 1 month ago 5

WHATS THE EXCUSE THERE???
gordovike 1 month ago

Congratsa and enjoy.
gordovike 1 month ago

If you've got EastCoast bias, i'm OK with that. colt out of a Buckpasser mare, that is truly amazing.

Easy Goer, what a great tribute video to a magnificent racehorse. What a champion Easy Goer was!
PhippsStable 2 years ago 4
Easy Goer would no doubt be in the Top 5 or 10 of all time if not for a couple of terrible, terrible rides..He is still mentioned with some of the best ever anyway.

Easy Goer is one of the best Hall of Famers to ever look through a bridle. The greatest mile of all time run by a three year old in 1:32.2, the greatest mile and a half of all time sans Secretariat! And a truely historic, unprecedented campaign for the ages!
EASYGOER4LIFE 2 years ago 5
Easy Goer, monster performance after monster performance after monster performance. Greatest three year old mile ever, and only Secretariat was faster ever in any Belmont. His campaign for the ages after that!
flylion132 2 years ago 4
Easy Goer ran the greatest triple crown race performance since Secretariat. The greatest triple crown race performance in almost 40 years!
DELMARCLUB1 2 years ago 4
Easy Goer is a few terrible rides away from being in the Top 5 or 10 of All Time, he is still one of the best ever anyway!
DELMARCLUB1 2 years ago 4
Easy Goer was absolutely the best horse I ever saw. A Hall of Famer in every sense of the word. Tremendous loss to lose him at suck a young age. What a great.
DELMARCLUB1 2 years ago 6
Easy Goer was one of the greatest Hall of Famers of all time. To run one of the greatest mile and a halfs of all time, after he had run the greatest mile of all time by any three year old. And after that, to go on to that historic and brilliant campaign. What a great Hall of Fame Champ he was.

Didn't know what blinkers are for
BE109 2 years ago
Those giant strides of Easy Goer were a sight to see. He was an extraordinary thoroughbred with the rarity of having blistering record speed at a mile, and also possessing genuine brilliant stamina also, one of the very few who had both.
