Lakota, Dakota, & Nokota, can someone quickly explain what people - such as Miniconjou (sp?), Teton, etc.) belonged to which of these tribal divisions. The Poles had 5-main tribes & many subgroups, as did the Gauls/Celts in ancient France, the Germans, etc., so I am guessing the Lakota, Dakota, & Nakota were the main groups/tribes & the Teton, Ogala Sioux etc.were the subtribes of these 3 larger groupings???
It's good & great to keep your culture alive, as we all can learn from each other's culture & history. When I was about ~6, a Lakota chief said some good words over me right after he & some other Lakota had done the Eagle Dance, so I consider myself a blessed USA citizen of Polish descent. Knew some Chippewa & Ojibway in highschool, worked with a Coamche, & served with a Blackfoot & some other people. I'm near 60 now & a bit faded.

my cousinis from canada and he married one of the tride that walked to canada after the little big horn. he family are wonderful and she is stunning ! i am soooooooooo jelious. we are very proud that we have these people as part of our family and always will.

Beautiful! I love my ppl, I go to rosebud fair every year, love it,its a good,friendly pow wow with alot goin on for everyone. They should advertise more somehow, to bring more numbers in..I know they would come if they knew how good a pow wow it is.
