@DeviousPrimate I have considered doing that. It's been a while since I made it, so I might take a slightly different approach.  The tricky part (which really isn't all that tricky), is making the sweep. On this one, it's just an array modifier. The numbers themselves are just animated using a layer IPO. You could also just have them outside the area of the camera and use a location IPO instead.

@ClayOgre Yeah, I imagine, that was the part that I had no idea how to do, I still really dont! I really hope you decide to make a tutorial, because this is really cool, and it would be nice to get an introduction to array modifiers.

@ClayOgre What about doing a 3D version, with 2 cameras...and full rotating movement? Lots of tutorials can be found about rendering side-by-side or anaglyph...and 1080p, of course.

That would be shockful, and perhaps not so far from the professional intros...

How did you get it to switch numbers like that?

Sorry...I don't logon to my account all that often, so I missed this. The numbers are in a sort of "pile" on another layer and animated with layer keyframes to switch the number at the correct time.
