The "not so quick slap shot" - Look at the puck - Look at the net - Line up the heel of the stick with the left or right post - Look lft - Look rt - Look and make sure the puck is still where you left it - Waive at your best friends girl - Pump up your Rebok skates - Cock you stick half way back while looking at either post - Proceed with forward motion - Tie loose laces - Connect with the puck and continue with follow thru Note: If you miss the puck, repeat the above steps.
For those of you questioning why he says point it right at the goalie, he's actually right- just worded it kind of awkward. The puck is riding off of your blade, so to help guide it you want to make sure you finnish your stride pointing at where you want the puck to go (hopefully past the goalie and not at him).
Anyone who wants to watch a useful snapshot demo should watch the Bobby/Brett Hull video. 1350 NHL goals can't be wrong. Okay maybe a couple of those were backhands. Buffalo, I know you remember one, haha sorry Sabre fans...
@wheelsvdangles71 sometimes just getting a puck on net quickly can create a rebound and surprise the goalie O: I play triple A and honestly i've scored about 10 goals this season by just picking up a loose puck spinning and putting it on net. Goalies can't always react and get surprised when a shot comes off quickly
@wheelsvdangles71 Because the follow through is so important to good shooting. Keep in mind NHL players may not but beginners learning the basics should always follow through their swing with the blade finishing right where they want the puck to go.
@wheelsvdangles71 Because the puck rolls off the blade and depending on how much curve is on it you can aim directly at the goalie and the puck will go right into the corner.
guys, shut up, for a snap shot there is a wind up but your stick doesn't leave the ice, on a slap shot, you lift the stick and literally "slap" the puck
i consider this a "half slapshot"...lol. in my opinion, which is my opinion, i think a snapshot is more of a snap of the wrists while doing a wrist shot movement. i have no idea if i'm even making sense, but that's how i shoot.
I don't know my friend who has incredible hockey skills doesn't wind up at all, but he still snaps it off, its like the puck comes off of your stick for a split second before you shoot it.
Just because he has a windup does mean it isn't a snap shot. By giving an extra foot to hit the puck you create more flex which gives the puck more speed. A slap shot would be taking the toe of the stick way up and hitting the puck in the same fashion as a snap shot, but it takes longer to do a slap shot than a snap shot.
Its almost literally impossible to teach how to shoot because everyone makes up there own style of shooting that works for them. So this guy dosent "suck" he is just using a different style than other people. But if it works for him......you cant judge that.
@DanGuitar9 no, that would be a wrist shot. a snap shot is pretty much exactly what he explained. maybe a little less wind up, but it's easier when you're moving.
@CaptainNapalm7 no wrist shots you slide the puck back then push it forward and turn your hands over. snap shots you dont wind up in any way you just snap your wrists.look at phil kessels snapshot as an example. this guy is just taking slapshots with a small wind up
@DanGuitar9 no fuck head its impossible to take any kind of shot without any windup why dont u look at kessels snap shot and u would see that even though there is little wind up he does bring is stick back a bit. what he was doing was a snap shot but a shitty example of one
@hizzleeee ya obviously when i say no wind up i mean u start with ur stick a couple inches away from the puck and snap it. but this video he starts with his stick alot further back than you generally would for a snap shot and also generally u take snap shots facing the net while you are moving for a quicker release as apposed to sideways. i was kind of exagerrating it is not a slapshot but its not a real snap shot because he starts too far back and does slap at the puck
thats this guys definition of a snap shot!!! Well at least we know that he never played any junior hockey in his dayslmfao. i guess if your teaching three year olds its a pretty good lesson
The windup legnth he is using is about right for a wristshot --- a snap shot should have a much shorter windup.
