  • @briansmobile1 just wanted to take the time out and give u a big imaginary Hi 5 ! Great videos and very helpful=] I'm a Honda owner and I always learn something new from ur vids

Keep up the good work nd wud love to see a dohc vtec motor vid sometime ^__^

  • Kewl video all of your video's have been excellent. I had a Automotive instructor when I was in school adjust valves when the engine was running just by sound. I found it messy and stressful way of doing it, what do you think? he was a really old guy retired halfway through my course.

    thanks,

    bkw

  • @bwambolt35 I think that would take some BALLS! And you wouldn't have to look up specs either..... I'd be scared to do it that way, but to each their own. ; )

  • ill be doing this one shortly lol

  • @gassolean Enjoy my friend! How are things in the Great North?

  • @briansmobile1 well boring so far snow is still sad out here oh well but im looking forward to bringing the camaro out :)

  • Very healthy engine just be looking how little soot there is in the cylinder head.

  • @Lasselkv28 It's the natural gas it runs on. It burns MUCH MUCH cleaner.

  • @briansmobile1

    Yeah that must be it

  • Brian; Great instructive video. Thanks. I had no idea Honda engines needed valve adjustments. Now I wonder about my daughters Insight. Would have assumed bucket style followers. Must find out. I hate dealing with the dealers... THX

  • @nd318865 You're welcome

  • You have a good camera throughout all your videos so really no need to use the flashlight because whatever you are trying to show us we can not see it due to the extreme brightness.

Overall good job and thanks again for sharing.

  • I am not too thrilled with the flashlight used in this video. The camera is not able to handle the extreme brightness on the pointed objects. A dimmer flashlight would be better.

    A great video nonetheless!

  • Awesome video! That was VERY thurough. Thanks for the great post :)

  • YO! your videos are very informative and i Thank you for posting them up! Really really helpful!

  • ("why is the oil so clean?" -> natural gas engine )

a slight drag - very descret drag on the feeler gauge didn't work for me.

on older engines the drag of the feeler gauge must be a "noticeable" slight drag,,, or the valves will be noisy and out of spec (too large) gap.

  • @TheYTCable My dad (who I apprenticed with) told me if you slow the drag and stop it should be sticky to start movement again. The gauge shouldn't scratch or bend either though.

  • Adjusting valves ? Shouldn't it have hydraulic lifters ?

  • @09victoryrc i think none of honda engines have hydraulic lifters

  • A lot of great info in this video. Great job Brian!

  • as always great great videos! your different from other people on youtube because you go in to greater detail! im very good with alll kinds of cars, so if you say something stupid. ill let you know safely haha

  • I agree, that is an AWESOME belt tension tip. Thumbs up as always. On a side note, you should patent that 'flashlight with lightsaber pointer' for instructional videos before someone else does. Great work as always Brian. Thanks!

  • How do you know when your valves need adjustment. Im assuming it runs poorly ?

Thanks for making these videos :)

  • Really not enough detail. Parts skipped over and hard to understand. Please don't just say this is what you do, actually do it.

  • Does Harbor Freight carry that spiffy flashlight with laser pointer that you use in this video?

  • So confused.

  • for the people who are going to adjust the lash; you can crank the engine over using the power steering pump.

  • What all is involved in converting a gasoline engine to a natural gas engine? Great Vid

  • @2LateIWon All you need is a whole new fuel system including regulators, tank, and injectors. The fuel pump isn't required because the gas is under pressure already to make it liquid and supply enough for a reasonable range.

  • It would have been nice if you actually showed us how it was done! I can get what you told us out of the repair manual! Come on!

  • @motorman1700 I was doing another job and used this as a opportunity. SOME info is more useful than none. I get questions for this all the time. You can refer to my video on Adjusting Subaru Forester Valves or CRF450 Valve adjustment if you want to see the action of sliding a feeler gauge in and out you naughty little monkey. ; )

  • @motorman1700 I might also add that you haven't posted any videos. Perhaps you could do a video on how to make better videos? I could obviously use some help there. ; )

  • Great belt tension tip! Any pointers on getting the right seal when you put the cover back on? Every time I do, I only put a few dabs of sealant and I try to use just the right amount. I only use it in the "right" spots as well, but I still end up with seepage...oh, and it's a NEW gasket, so that's no the problem. Mind you, mine is an OLD Honda so it may also just be a bit of a fault in design. Anyhow, great vid as always man!

  • @nightmathzombieethan Thanks! I would recommend using permatex right stuff to seal all the way around on the head side and don't torque down till it bottoms out, just enough to be even and get compression on the gasket maker/sealant you're using.

  • HEY BRIAN THANKS FOR ALL YOUR GOOD VIDEOS I REALLY ENJOY AND LEARN A LOT I PRECIATE ALL YOU HELP AND TIME FOR EVERYBODY THANKS GOD BLESS YOU PEACE .....ATT JOHN KISS.FL

  • Brian i have a Cutlass Calais With the Quad 4 Engine in it. i have been trouble free; Till the two middle cylinders died, It has Spark, And it has Fuel pulse in those Fuel injector's I do not have a Compression Tester So i am Assuming it may be the Head Gasket. Oh ya and ity drips a little bit of water out a the Exhaust. i found out that the 2 Middle Cylinders were dead by Taking an ice Cube and Holding it to each Exhaust Manifold it melted on one and 4 But 2 and 3 are dead.

  • what do you mean by natural fuel?

  • @bustfer07 Natural Gas is what most homes in the US use for heating it's not a liquid like gasoline is at room temp (20 C. 72 F) It's literally in gas state. It forms naturally above petroleum and coal deposits. This car runs on this gaseous fuel It's compressed thousands of P.S.I. into liquid form in a cylinder wrapped in fiberglass.

  • @briansmobile1 awesome thanks for the info,

  • @bustfer07 You're welcome!

  • @briansmobile1 could you do a like walk around telling us the difference between a gasoline car and a natural gas car?

  • @bustfer07 The best way to do that is to have two identical cars side by side one CNG (compressed natural gas) and a gas vehicle. That doesn't happen often, but I'll see what I can do.

  • @briansmobile1 awesome thanks man
