we have these big ass generator things at our power station. Not quite sure how they make the power, I think the owyhee damn that is about 70 miles away from me powers all of us, it is a big ass damn with big ass generators in them!
"They pay for themselves, and put money back in your pocket" and also puts money in McGinty pocket. Samething the gov't send on those wind turbines, suppose to save us money, take consumption off the power grids, where's the savings? All goes in the gov't's pocket.
The bonus to having solar panels as well as residential windturbines is once hooked up to your power box in many cases the electiric companys end up paying you for the extra power you are feeding into the system.
Get yourself an angle grinder and cut one down . I believe a lot of us people have them on the roof of their house i bet they generate quite a bit of power as well being such a large panel .I do know that jay leno has solar panels on the roof of his large car garage and they power mostly everything in his building hjay made a video showing all the panels
Harbor Freight sells solar panel kits for about 200 bux.. The solar panel kit comes with three 15 watt solar panels. Plug it into your own 12v battery storage, and run a power inverter (at least 300watts), and you'll be running your 120v shit too..
I work for a company called Solarworld, we make shit tons of solar panels and I gotta tell yeah, I work in the pre-clean/final clean area and that alone is a pain in the ass to clean all the wafers that eventually make up the solar panels.
This is the governments way of making people pay to lower their green house emissions. They say to you you save money and feeding back to the grid ,yeah it does make you're bills cheaper ,but it is a trick. Peace!
I actually have some on my house, and now my electricity bill is down to 20$ and sometimes i pay nothing, and I will finish paying for the panels by this year, it was 24K U.S for 3 of those panels about that size installed. its a reallly good investment, and yes even in cloudy conditions they still work great!
i don't really call it an eye sore, my neighbor has three right infront of his kitchen window( not the spot i would put them but its the only spot that they could).
Certainly better than some of the attempts by the local council, they stuck little tiny panels onto some streetlights with a turbine on the very top, and they don't work..... :P
Thing about solar panels is that if you have too many on a grid, you can actually cause grid collapse if you have a weather front riding over the panels, and the power loss can result in a grid losing power and of course, supply does not meet demand and things blow or trip or cut out... :S
If Dave had a field of those or Wind he could generate on 1 100k turbine per 1 Acre. he could net $2,575,446 per year "Net Metering" at .0733 per Kw even if they operated at a 40% capacity which would be typical based on the wind of that region.
He could lease the project to a utility & receive 10% or 250k annually for only land lease more then the $8900 he receives as of now.
Solar is comparable but only yields about 5 Hrs. of power day unlike wind which is more consistent .
2 of those panels, 6 storage battery's in a shed, Rick could power everything in his trailer, with them. You could use a couple tiny ones with your condo. Place them on the balcony.
The first part of htis video throws people off because you have an english accent and you say in London haha. Even though we know your in Canada it's irony I tells ya irony.
If he got a 12v solar panel and a charge controller (like 150$ for a kit) it would keep the batteries topped up all the time automatically..... and on cloudy days that he needed electricity he could use the generator.
Yeah and Ontario's premier Dalton McGuinty uses OUR taxes money to subsidise for these useless things. I bet a huge panel like the one you were filming doesn't even produce enough hydro for even one house. These panels won't work in the winter because the snow will accumulate on them. That technology needs a lot more improvement before the government start investing in it. I hope in the next provincial election that they vote for Rickem instead of Dalton!
@101xfmrogers If only they could build in those ultrasonic motors that certain camera companies put in their lenses to clean dust off of them. It might help with the snow issue.
@frosty9595 true, but I bet you would need at least 50000$ in panels to power and average home. Plus they won't work in the winter in Canada because of the snow that accumulates on them.
@101xfmrogers I have seen people power their houses with 10,000 in panels..... but is easyer to just use grid tie inverters and augment the power coming in.... also theres always free used panels somewhere. I have 15 from old highway signs powering grid tie inverters so my bill is tiny..... Snow isnt an issue because rickem isnt in the camper in the winter.
@101xfmrogers quick easy way to get rid of snow on solar power, heat. I dont think its a problem in anyway, its just kept quiet and limited and very expensive.
@nuclearthreat545 solar panels aren't efficient enough. Solar cost 80 cents per kilowatt instead of 10 cent per kilowatt with nuclear. Nuclear technology is safer and cleaner than in the past.
@Lovecarscranking true, but how else would we get power, to power the whole country with only solar we would probably have to replace all the farmer's crops with solar panels and still that wouldn't be enough. Japan's disaster was a rare event.
@101xfmrogers Wind power, along with solar power. 100,000 mega watts of power could be produced that way. Needs to be a 3% increase in power made by hydro, and coal generated plants. All Nuclear power plants should be phased out in the next 21 years. Way too dangerous, too big a risk to the environment. Same kind of technology at Japans plants is here. Way too dangerous.
I think instead of building those free standing ones, they should just add them to the rooftops of buildings. that way it wouldn't be such an eye sore.
They put out a VERY small amount of power! Not EVEN enough to power much at all besides a small light bulb. They will NEVER pay for themselves! They are a huge joke and waste of taxpayer money to make idiots like algore feel good.
@3Mudbone1 well im 14 and i installed solar panels on my garage with battery bank and inverter and i run my garage 100% off solar and i even run my welder off it it has definately payed off and the whole thing cost me $500
I've got a small 45W Harbor Freight solar panel kit powering my camper. I can run everything pretty much forever. It's always on sale for like $130, too.
