  • I dont like destroying a bike without sense! It is very poor, Charlie, that You did it!

  • Have to agree the best bike ever made!!!

  • only fags ride the fagios. really that is a fucking joke this got number 1

  • Put them all on an atoll then H-bomb them.

  • Yes ive got one as wll charlie baby

  • in america, anythng 2 wheeled witha gas motor needs a licence. sooo stupid. anything under100cc should not be a motorcycle..

  • most dangerous bike in history ! why you dont say people how many accidents happened with this fucking bike? i almost lost a friend ... it has no power to go ahead of the cars. no brakes no handle , what is that you like in this ???please someon answer....

  • It would've of been so hilarious if that bike didn't have a single scratch when they dropped it lmao

  • THEY NEED TO BRING THESE BACK TO THE STATES! hopefully they will in a few years. But in the more modern wave format.

  • Why waste a motorcycle when someone that lost everything in hurricane Katrina could use that bike. People suck, I wished he was on it when it went off the roof.

  • @jenniferalls Because then you would have nothing to whine about on the internet.

  • And if you look close theres still cables connected to the motorcycle when he throws it off the roof. The bike was going to do an end over end but when it shows it falling its wheels down. I think thats where the cables come in. And they probally slow the bike down from hitting so hard. What a bunch of shit.

  • There aint no pizzas in those damn boxe's Why not put some real shit on the back.

  • Honda Econo 90 la mejor!!!

  • I cried when they dropped it off the building. I have a 1971 Ct70hk0 i rebuilt and just yesterday picked a yellow C70 im going to restore...

  • did he say 221 miles per gallon?? O.O

  • This is where the underbones evolve : ) thats why i love my honda<3

  • Best bike by far it's just a shame Charles wasn't riding that poor defenceless little cub when it left the roof.

  • Man. I HATE discovery Channel programming! You can see the bike starts to go rear over front as he rolls it off the building, yet in falls perfectly level without tumbling. And the engine, with overhead cam and 3-speed transmission and auto clutch and oil pump, is no more complicated than a lawnmower engine? Yeah, right. It's sick to do that to a bike anyway. Crap, I'm heading over to Discovery Channel headquarters right now... this stuff is fake pseudo-truth factoid garbage.

  • got a cbr600 n Wave 150..love Honda =D

  • i realy dont like the fact you destroy a honda , but its true , if you its a person need 2 wheels , you need a honda , the oder things only are things .

honda for heart , and gasoline for blood ....... luky to all

  • Boorman is a dick head

  • i can't understand why they conduct stupid experiment.

do they usualy routinely throw their motorcycles from building?

at least Japanese never do that.

    mottainai mottainai

  • @momomo338 LOL, I agree. It really hurts to watch how much they abusing this humble machine. Good thing I look after my GSX-R600 and my 150cc scooter, as if they were my own children. It's in the same condition as they were when I bought them brand-new. I have never abused them, never ridden hard, never fallen on them, and there's not a single scratch on them. In fact, I actually put a blanket over both bikes when they're parked in the garage.

  • I love my Honda CD105! :-)

  • greatest bike of all time

  • @locsman Haha, yeah this bike is what made all other bikes possible.

  • i live in Argentina, i had a 1992 red/white Honda Cub (named "Honda Econopower" over here)...0 maintance, thousands and thousands of km. on it. Unbreakable simple mechanic. Japanese, bomb proof, love it !

  • what was with the empty pizza boxes?

  • Nothing, except that they weren't empty! There were really pizza's in those boxes.

  • and what does strapping a huge amount of empty pizza boxes have to do with a weight test?

  • lol, isnt that considered a moped or a scooter?

  • not realy. a moped has pedals that when u start peddling it starts up. a scooter has tiny wheels and sits differently. this is a bicycle with a small engine which is technically called a motorcycle.

  • @cullysipes A moped is classified as a bicycle/motorcycle hybrid. Basically a low-powered (50cc) motrocycle, which in some cases do come with peddles, allowing you to peddle or use the engine.

  • The problem seems to be that the definition of "moped" can vary widely from one country to another. Here in NL a moped is any motorised two-wheeled vehicle with less than 50cc that is not registered as a motorcycle. A cub 90 has 92cc (old type) or 85cc (newer types), hence under Dutch legislation it's a motorcycle. A cub 50 is a moped in NL.

  • The term "Moped was invented in the fifties by a swedish motor journalist and originally designated a vehicle with MOtor and PEDals, but the moped evolved and became a little motorcycle, anyway the term sticks to it and now describes any vehicle with less than 50 cc and a maximum speed of 45-50 kph. If they can obtain greater speed, they are considered light motorcycles in Norway at least.A Cub can be registered as a moped if its restricted, they are rare here but they were sold in the late 60s.

  • OLD type 6 volter C90 is an 89cc

  • @snowdallblue Oops, I made a mistake. You are right of course...

  • Es una verdadera maquina indestructible.pero realmente el piloto es un inconsciente,si iba salir con 200 kilos en una moto peligrando perder equilibrio y matar a un peton pudieron hacer las pruebas en alguna pista segura al menos.Un tarado.Saludos.

  • wtf?! 221 mpg?? thats impossible ... anyone with a cub 90 can confirm this

  • CUB82 is the best!

  • Hmm, those pizza boxes were empty, so I really doubt all those plus the fruit was really 200kg.

  • jejeje si que es la mejor moto del mundo :)

  • amazing.

  • It's a moped, not a motorcycle.

  • Sencillamente irrompible!!

  • This motorized bicycle ( says so on id tag) with a newer lifan 150/hydrolic clutch would be a potent preformer with close to 14 hp the reserve power would be good

  • oh yea and when i get all show the the state its in man youll be shocked

  • man me and my bro are gonna restore one of these soon. a mate of mine bought it from a guy who used it as a field bike and then he borght it for the same reason but man it was in a state (dident even run just stalled all the time, i even helped hime work on it abit) and now its at the local M.O.T garage (becuse he sold it agian) on a pile of dirt so im gonna get it and return it to its former glory cant wate :X. just wate untill; i get it and ill post a video of me and my bro restoring it!!!

  • I have one ;)

  • i feel sorry for it as it fell to its death...

  • that bike was repaired and back on the road

  • its really a piece of reliable machine..I remember one funny incident back in the early 80's.There is one time my cub out of gas and the nearest gas station is abt 2miles away.I open the gas cap,put my mouth in it and blow inside it to give more air pressure inside the tank.Tadaaa....it start again and manage to ride to the gas station..haha I think it wouldnt work with my GS1200 today ..haha

  • What makes Honda Honda isn't a Robot or Civic, but a Super Cub...

  • There's a good damned reason why the saying "They don't build 'em like they used to." applies so often. I love how the indicator flashed as soon as the key was turned kinda like it was saying "I'm ok".

  • If there's so many of them, why a I having trouble finding one? I live in Southern Ontario Canada.

  • i was once a proud owner of a honda cub,its no doubt that there wont be another in my shed before long!

  • Poor little bike.

  • It's like amoped really

  • description of a cub 90 in one word ...bulletproof...

  • i just love this bike ive allready had five and ime only 16 ther great

  • LOL I learned to ride a motorcycle on a '68 Honda C90 as well, it was fun as hell to ride but I very quickly moved to a CR80 then an RM125 in the same year. But the C90 was a great backyard basher on dull days.

  • there is a bunch of us who all own either one of these or something like it where i live, we go off-roading the lot. 2 of my mates have the amazing c90, 1 has a yamaha townmate 80 and i own a suzuki fr80. its well funny riding around down town you get some well dodgy looks but its worth it.

  • My first bike was a Honda 90. It was great, except when it rained - the engine would stop and I had to walk it home. Phew!!!

  • fucking love this bike man!!

  • Es la mejor. Yo tengo una Cub 90. Modelo 1991. Made in japan!

  • WTF 221 MPG i mean Am i the only that herd that? i Seriously can be i mean jesus u wouldnt have to feel ur tank ever

  • people look at me funny when i ride by but i laugh cause thier spending thier whole pay at the pumps and im spending a little over $4 to fill it up and ride for 2 weeks... OMG i just cant say how much i love my little bike

  • @acedogg692005 Haha. I got a GSX-R600 and a 150cc, and I'm just like you! I piss myself laughing because cars outnumber bikes, and some people spend their entire salaries on petrol, and I only pay R40 (SA Rands) to fill up my 150cc scooter. No greater joy than living life on a bike.

  • omg i love my little 1969 c90 best thing i ever rode.. bored it out to 103cc and ive had it pegged at 60 for many miles only 1700 miles on it to. with gas at over $4.00 a gallon here in the US and the c90 getting 100+MPG hmmm great ride

  • Come to the UK to see high fuel prices!

  • This is all well, but where is the replacement in this hour of high gas prices? We need a new Cub now here in the USA!

  • I've ridden a Suzuki GT100, an Rd250 a GT500 and a Honda C90, the GT500 although exciting was terrifying! The Honda C90 was the only bike I didn't fall off, and I rode it on compacted snow (ice) one winter..they're amazing!

BTW expect petrol to be £1.50 a litre before too long and the C90 will make perfect sense.

  • This was a great video! I just bought an 81' Honda 70cc today and I had a little trouble with the shifting on some steep hills, but after I saw this video I feel a lot better about my purchase!

  • The Japanese build stuff really well. Thats their philosophy; build for quality not quantity.

  • Yeah but in the case of the Cub, they did both. 50 million sold!

  • 60 mil now

  • @Charles2337 Then they go and build the most commercially used and sold bike ever! so i'd say quality AND quantity ;)

  • @Charles2337 actually it's both. Quality AND quantity. In the 19th century it was only abut quality. later in the 20th century there was a balance between the two.

  • I've recently got a broken C90 from my mate just to have a laugh. I've easily fixed it up cheaply (I mean, reallly dirt cheap to buy used parts for a cub). Now, I really love it and my CB650's catching dust..... I feel CG125 is more reasonable as a town bike but it's just not as much fun as the cub.

  • i have a 196? CA102 Cub with electric start, got low compression

  • Hmmm... Sounds like you cilinder might need a re-bore.

  • best bike ever

  • i wan pure honda EX5 back!!

  • i had a honda cub c 90 it got stolen about 6 months back. i loved it and want another.

  • yes, This is all about Honda Cub, My Dad leave me a 1988 Honda C70 GBO and It 'accompany' so many unforgetable memories with me.

  • had loads of these bikes over the years but recently tried to get one and second hand ones in ireland going for thousands!!! any body have one in ireland going cheap??

  • hated to see it buggered like that.

  • i bought one back in 95 and the owner told me he had given it a full service. 1000 miles later when i went to change the oil i found that the sump was filled with petrol! it really is a testament as to how strong these engines are.

  • that motorcycle is worth one-hundred-thousand php. here in the philippines... that's two thousand U.S. dollars..

  • i have one locked up & only take it out 4 rallys & its worth like 2000 now there brill

  • can you say pizza delivery boy =)

  • anasını siktimin cocuğu mahvetti güzelim motoru

  • the c90 is the best bike goin i have just bought 1 today and i think there grate

  • haha here in my country Dominican republic we use lots of those motocycles!! its really famouse over here

  • PlACCCY 50 yeah,the honda 50-75 will never die

  • omg i drove dat in vietnam all da time haahhaha

  • Charlie Boorman rocks!. heh.. great torture test.

  • haha...Cab..WILDONE!

  • No doubt about it, have owned 3, despatched, toured and trialed.Cheap, reliable and fun to ride. My fist c50 ran for yonks with no oil in. Happy days.

  • I have a 1969 honda cm90 and I just got it on the road and let me tell you the thing will run FOREVER! I beat the hell out of mine and still runnin strong!

  • that was pretty f#*kin awesome,i was suprised wen he first said the honda cub was the best motorcycle ever, but after they put it through all that abuse and it still ran!? that was awesome

  • 4 Horsepower! FOUR HORSEPOWER!

  • thats more than a moped these days.

  • Easily the greatest motorcycle/sportbike ever produced.

  • The CUB, means Cheap Urban Bike. You can go touring on this with minimum tools and peace of mind knowing that it'll not break down on you. You burn far lesser petrol than any other automotive on this planet. Hail the Cub, and the similiar makes thereafter.

  • That may only be an urban legend. The Cub was more likely named by Soichiro after the simply but dependable airplane of the same name. But thanks anyway for the Cub love.

  • KUMAMOTO, Japan, February 8, 2006 -- Honda Motor Co., Ltd. announced that total worldwide production of the Super Cub reached 50 million units at the end of December 2005. A favorite with customers since its launch in 1958, the Super Cub has become the first motor vehicle to achieve total worldwide production of 50 million unit

  • To date 50,000,000 of these "jokes" have been produced worldwide making it the most produced motorcycle/motor-vehicle of all time.

    "KNOW YOUR BIKES!"

  • This still does not make it a motorcycle. It's a scooter. Common, automatic transmission, not center tube. Not traditional motorcycle gas tank. It's not a motorcyle. It needs a basket on the front!

  • Well, a friend of mine owns a Passport Cub that actually does have a basket in front ;-) It doesn't make it any less a motorcycle in my (not so) humble opinion. If you come to East Asia (Viet Nam, Thailand, Indonesia) you'll see that half of the population rides a Cub and transports half their household on it. Again, it all depends on what you expect from a motorcycle. Perhaps you should try going beyond your prejudices for once?

  • You obviously don't know the Cub, nor Honda, for that matter. Visit their site. You will see the Cub is listed as a "business bike" NOT a scooter. It is a motorbike. Period. I've made CMs for Honda Japan, particuraly for the Cub, and VTR bikes. Both are motorcycles. Ducattis are wonderful bikes. Don't make us think less of the riders of them by displays of misplaced anger. Enjoy riding, we're all brothers on the road. Peace.

  • Hear, hear...

    Meaning: I second that...

  • of course some of us are litte brothers...

    special ed train

    cb750 & ch250 Scooter

  • do you have hondas site adress??

  • Here in Tokyo, many sport bikes have baskets and boxes used for messenger service.

  • A programme like this is always "comparing apples to pears" (as the Dutch saying goes) en therefore always disputable. I could also, with good cause, argue that the Honda CB750 should be #1 but I will not unduly tire my audience with this.

I disagree, however, with the opinion that the Cub would be a scooter and not a motorcycle. It may be a step-through bike, but it is still one with a full-blown fourstroke engine that is virtually indistructable.

  • And please, cut out the expletives next time. This will make any discussion a lot more grown-up and pleasant.

  • What's your argument for the Honda? Please tell me. And anything named a "Cub" with an automatio 3 speed sounds as much like a scooter or even a lawn mower to me. Have you seen the show or how many bikes have you owned? I'm curious.

  • @ jmyslowka:

It all depends on what you expect from a motorcycle. If you expect it to be super fast, glamorous and/or "sexy" (whatever this last designation means with regard to a motorcycle), then the Cub is obviously not for you. If, on the other hand, you expect it to be a flexible, reliable, economic and reasonably fast machine to take you from A to B without letting you down, then the Cub is definitely your machine. Needless to say I belong to the latter category.

  • @ jmyslowka (#2):

I did see the show, by the way, and as I said: it is "comparing apples to pears". So the whole set-up tends to be a bit arbitrary. If you're a Ducati fan, I won't argue with that. I just so happen to be a fan of sturdy, reliable machines that will just keep going. So the argument of the makers of the show for putting the CB750 only third ("it is a bit boring") doesn't make sense to me at all.

    Does this answer your question?

  • Ever heard of Hondamatic? Honda put them in bikes as big as the CB750. CB750 must be a lawn mower too then, huh?

  • Listen Bud my first bike was a Honda and props to Honda Motorcycles - they build good bikes. However this Honda Cub is NOT a motorcycle by most motorcycling enthusiasts standards - It's a SCOOTER-MOPED. ...And my point is that my lawnmower has more power than it. A friend of mine had a Hondamatic. So yes I've heard of a Hondamatic Motorcycle which would call it a motorcycle due to it's non-step-through design.

  • Scooter maybe, but NOT a moped. Mopeds have pedals, are typically two-stroke, limited to 49cc, do not require helmets, license or insurance. The Cub requires a motorcycle permit, helmet and insurance, just like a big bike. Also, though it may be a step through design, it has no platform for your feet like most scooters do.

In Europe, where this episode was made, bikes fall into two categories - moped or motorcycle. To Europeans, the Cub gets classified as a motorcycle.

  • Defend the Cub much, LOL?

You know it's kid's bike, admit it.

  • I'm with you. OK, it has big wheels and an underslung rather than rear-mounted motor but in my opinion it's still closer to a scooter than a motorcycle. It has a step-thru frame and a tiny gutless motor and it just can't compare in performance with anything that could be called a real motorcycle. Drop any bike off that roof and see if it still runs... They didn't try that...

  • It should not have been included in the show.....Good scooter though!

  • In my youth I was a telegram delivery officer for about a year. I had a CT90 to ride. To compensate for the lack of power I always rode flat out. I had several spills and bounced off a few cars but it took all the abuse I could give it. Motorcycle or scooter they certainly can take a lot of punishment.

  • yeh your right but scooters are up to 50cc it dosent matter on the frame just the engine but i agree when i first saw it i forght it was a scooter lol

  • ive got a yamha townmate 80 shaft driven, what is better??

  • Super Cub is better. But the Mate isn't bad. Neither is the Suzuki Birdy. But both are copies of the original.

  • iv had one of those yamahas fast!! but hondas are best shaft drive is great though!!

  • i have a 1981 honda passport which is the american 70cc version of the cub and a 1966 cm91 i love these scooters and let me tell you they really do earn there reputation as bulletproof i can go from blacktop to logging roads through knee deep puddles and if anything did happen like terminal to the bike it could be fixed easily i suggest anyone get one just to save gas in the summer time

  • ebay... im there

  • i want 2 get 1 and try that stuff out

  • That's awesome for getting someone from point A to point B. Now just put a Harley Davidson logo on it. Price it at $15,000 (so I can brag and to make up for my ridiculously small package) and sell me some leather chaps with the fringe on em to match, and I'm sold baby.

  • I think i'll stick to my '04 R1

  • I have both. Plus a VTR 1000 police bike (here in Tokyo, Japan) heehee.

    Safe riding, bro.

  • Haha I learned to ride on one of these!! I remember I took the forks off and accidentally dropped several of the ball bearings down the carburator into the cylinder. Couldnt get tham out so I fired 'er up after I put the forks back on. It was a little noiset initally but the knocking went away and ran fine!!

3 years later we took the top end off to put rings in and Dad saw ball bearings embedded in the piston!!!

  • Like a cat 9 lives and lands on its feet. Amazing bike. Abused to hell

  • ahhh great fun - used to ride these round when i was a teenager - good fun

  • American needs this motorcycle again. Are you listening, American Honda???

  • i've got one and for 11 years now and no problem whatsoever. a really indestructible bike

  • this bike looks pretty gay!

  • HAHAHA! I laughed at that comment.

  • 221 mpg!?? Is that true???

  • We are talking about imperial gallons here (Jamaican commercial); 1 imperial = 1.2 US gallon. This would amount to 183 miles per US gallon. Also, it was about the 50cc Cub; a 90 cc Cub will use more fuel. I think it must be possible to make a 50cc Cub run at 220 miles per (imperial) gallon, but then at a cruising speed of 20 mph. My own experience with a 50cc Cub is that it will run at approx. 140 miles per US gallon or 170 miles per imperial gallon, at a cruising speed of 30 mph.

  • Must have one....

  • I've got one...

  • I hate you...Where you get it?

  • EBay UK...

  • I've got one
