  • rest in peace steve jobs! =)

  • iRIP Steve Jobs

  • google chrome and safari are based off the same shit webkit. there borh good

  • Wow, didn't NetScape make JavaScript? That's sad.

  • Along came Google and some flaming fox........

  • @2DJT firefox's orgin comes from netscape than mozilla app suite then firefox

  • whats better safari or chrome

  • @quest8899 Chrome is more extensible, but I find Safari 5 is quicker and it also uses native frameworks and OS services.

  • Can I use flash with Safari?

  • @ofanning06 Yes, just always make sure you're using the latest version.

  • Wow Firefox, Chrome and Opera is still not there . . .

  • @jasper561996 Chrome didn't exist and Firefox at that time was still Firebird and in a very early version. I am not sure why Opera isn't there, but it really wasn't used or known on the Mac platform back then.

  • @Zoolookuk Dude I know . . . I just expressed my feelings in that comment of mine in "Imagine the life without those three browsers . . ."

  • I use Safari on my Mac and my Pc. It's the best browser i ever used !!! I love it

  • 12 people were using IE when viewing this.

  • @themacbox at least in I.E 9 they have cleaned it up.. i give MS credit to that but ... I.E 7 & 8.. really crappy

  • steve clicks and porn comes up......

  • I use Safari !!!

  • @appleAddict240872 I don't think you know how math works.

  • @appleAddict240872

If IE= 1, and Safari is 30*IE, then Safari=30. If Chrome is 60*IE, then Chrome=60. 60 is not 30 times greater than 30, thus, it cannot be simultaneously true that Safari is 30x faster than IE, and Chrome is 60x faster than IE and 30x faster than Safari. It is a mathematical impossibility. I can only guess that you meant that Chrome was twice as fast as Safari, but I can't be sure about that.

  • Jobs is missing something when he says that you only use what you understand. In actuality you may understand something but even though you understand something doesn't mean that it is practical to use it. It may be more of a hassle than it is worth. This would be one of the reasons things do not catch on. Steve knows this. This is what Apple is brilliant with. He just didn't say it.

  • wonder what phone steve jobs was using in those days.

  • I thought he said ibitch for a second...

  • @knottsknocks same here

  • @knottsknocks where did he say that?

  • He probably had all those sites cached.

  • @d1995a3 A lot of people can vouch for Safari's speed, so unless you own a Mac and use Safari, please don't make accusations or assumptions.

Sorry if you didn't mean it in a rude way, but I can't tell, this is the Internet after all.

  • @Nutz320 I didn't mean it in a rude way. I'm just ticked off how he's showing something that I've never been able to do even when I have a better and later version of Safari.

  • Safari's pretty good, webkit FTW, but I prefer Chrome for Mac.

  • What did apple use before safari?

  • Because Apple had done bad during the late 90's. So they asked Steve if he could come back at Apple. During that time they had agreed with Microsoft to use Internet Explorer in exchange for 150 million in non proffitable stocks.

  • @quest8899

Apple used Internet Explorer for five years (1998-2003)

  • They had deals with Microsoft for IE & Netscape for Navigator.

  • @quest8899 Internet Explorer. Boo.

  • Prior to Safari, the default browser was actually a Mac version of Internet Explorer (though they still shipped with Navigator).

  • Apple used Internet Explorer.

  • netscape, which was developed by firefox (mozilla)

  • WebKit FTW!

  • "Innovate"

And that was before the Doorstop aka IE6 has been launched!

  • not to be a noob but what is the Doorstop?

  • Really hate IE. I think I'll give this one a try. (currently using Opera 10)

  • you should try firefox. i dislike opera almost as much as ie

  • fuck ie8

  • Amazing to watch this.

Back then Firefox didn't exist, and Netscape did. Camino was called Chimera. Wikipedia wasn't around nor was YouTube. The search box in the toolbar wasn't a standard feature yet. So much was different 6.5 years ago.

  • Strange times, we've progressed so much.

  • I'm pretty sure wikipedia was created in 2001

  • It wasn't popular until a few years ago. Before then it was just a website that existed, but no one knew about them. Much like FaceBook which hid under the radar for a while until it finally made it big.

  • I remember window tabs being a pretty huge deal.

  • It was the only reason I ever used Firefox. For the tabs.

  • im unsubbing he hasnt posted a video in 1 year

  • why would you un-sub? he isn't bothering you with videos. and if he comes out with something then you will still get it.

  • because I want too DUH!

  • @THeAppleFanKiD1912 well obviously, but why would you want to? Why would you unsub if you didn't want to? Unless forced with the threat of you dying.

  • steve jobs was very lively back then

  • He deffinetally still is, wait til next keynote

  • can't wait for a touched based imac either!

they should make the ipod classic compatiable with applications shouldn't they?

  • i have attached my google chrome for mac review

  • Safari Ftw

  • for the win or F*** the world?

  • The win :)

  • yeah it is pretty faster than S****y IE8

  • hah, thats funny, I.E was 30 times slower than safari back then AND IT'S STILL 30 X slower... funny.

  • actually now its 42x slower

  • 89.2% of statistics are made up on the spot.

  • doubt it

  • anyone can make up fake statistic numbers. 14% of people know that!

  • anyone can make up statistics. 14% of people know that!

  • Then test it yourself!

  • @aaroninclub Keep in mind that these speed measurements are literally dealing with loading times in the range of milliseconds. That is to say, even if Safari does load 30x faster than IE, it's virtually impossible to tell. You simply cannot see the difference between something loading in 10 milliseconds vs. 20 milliseconds.

  • he is a great speecher man!

  • He surely is.

The Keynote Presentation supports him very well.

    Ü

  • I think steve jobs first word was boom. in all of his keynotes, he says it at least once.

  • 800 mb? r u serious?

  • in latin nemo means no one so finding nemo means finding no one

  • Traitor! Your heart is blacker than your turtleneck! lol i saw that episode of the simpsons too.

  • The interface on Safari 2 is so much better than on Safari 3 and 4. Safari 3 and 4 look way too dull. They're now going away from Aqua.

  • the new IE7 SUCKS! It's so slow! And it's just filled with a bunch of crap I don't need. I use FireFox.

  • FireFox is still my default and my favorite. The first thing I did when I got my Mac was go on Safari and download Firefox, and I haven't used Safari since

  • WHy?????/ It is a well known fact that Safari is the fastest and most standard complient web browser in the history of history!

  • F YEAH!!!!! SAFARI ROX!

  • It's true that Safari is the fastest, but for my PC I prefer Google Chrome.

Safari FTW on Mac. Why does everybody download Firefox? It FAILS.

  • Chrome ftw

  • @Technoguy3 Safari was the fastest for a while, then Chrome, then Opera, now Chrome again. Its nice having a browser war.

For what its worth, Chrome and Safari use the same HTML rendering engine called Webkit, they only really differ in features and javascript speed.

  • @tapo I agree that browser wars are very good. But Opera 10.5 is the fastest browser now. Also the Mobile Opera is the fastest on the iPhone and many other phones

  • If you guys notice: Chimera and Safari are neck and neck in those tests.

Chimera is now known as Camino and today, is faster and handles pages and tabs better than Safari.

    Both good browsers...

  • dude camino sucks! it has no add-on support, and takes up alot of bandwidth

  • Most people don't really use the " Add-Ons " like firefox people do. I use to use FF and pack it with addons and never saw myself really using them.

As for Camino, they do have some plugins and addons at ( Pimpmycamino . com )

You said " It takes up alot of bandwith "

    What do you mean?

Did you mean memory? If so, i never noticed it. It literally flies for me.

  • Dude it crashed my computer! Talk about a greedy web browser!

  • lol if Camino crashed ur computer then ur doing something wrong or something on ur comp is conflicting with it cuz I never had a problem.

By the way, I went back to Safari. Some sites don't go smoothly with Camino as I thought. Little things like buttons on Sites don't load correctly. Still a good browser but it's those little things that erk me.

  • No it's not! Safari is the best! Every other browser is shit!

  • I used to say that but it's seriously ticking me off this version. I had to start using Firefox (which I hate). My Safari keeps crashing!

  • Safari is the best browser.

  • steve jobs is millionaire

  • billionaire

  • 3 point something billion last time i checked.... then again with the economy going crazy he could be a lowly millionaire this time tomorrow. who knows :)

  • He has a salary of $1 a year. He does get lots of "perks" though...

  • Safari is the best browser for the vast majority of people. If they're not to stubborn, they'll learn from Chrome and make it even better.

  • SAFARI IS GREAT!

  • is SAFARI can be apply to WINDOWS XP OS ???

  • Yes, Safari is available for both Windows XP and Vista.

  • Firefox was first released 2004, wise guy.

  • firefox, 1st called phoenix was released in 2002, wise guy!

  • o rly? kiddin meh

    you said firefox ;)

  • The first 1.0 release was in November 2004. Beta releases went all the way back to 2002.

  • Great job copying Mosaic, freetard.

  • I love the way Safari handles bookmarks.

  • I love the way Safari handles everything :)

  • Can someone plz tell me why when i download safari, It says: You need Mac os X version 10.5.4 and up. I have 10.5.5. WTF?

  • Did you at any point use the Safari 4 Developer Preview? If so, that's why.

  • Having problems with add-ons is not a fault of Firefox. Idiot is not the browser, but the man infront. You install all the crap, you end up with a crap. So decide for yourselves!

  • Nothing beats the scrolling in Safari on a Mac (or even safari on a PC). Not even other mac applications like iTunes (which lags when scrolling over artwork in the "grouped with artwork" view) or Preview (which is too fast when scrolling through photos and too slow, or jumpy when scrolling in PDF's) can match Safari's scrolling ability. And don't even get me started about fucking Firefox. That thing is more bloated than IE with all those useless add-ons.

  • useless add-ons? yeah right. A good browser is judged by a variety of things, not scrolling capability. One Important thing in judging a browser is speed. I will admit up front that safari is an insanely fast web browser. However speed isn't the only factor. If someone just wanted a fast & real bare bones browser then Safari would be good. However For most people who aren't tech savy, Firefox is the best choice. It's Fast, Secure, Customizable, & fully compliant with most current web standards!

  • Even though Firefox 3 is faster, I only use Firefox when I need it, so I was disappointed to find out that most of my add-ons and themes in 2 don't work in 3. Scrolling might not be a big deal for you, but I have a MacBook, which means I have a trackpad, and even though that trackpad is the best in the world, it doesn't matter much if an app doesn't conform with the scrolling idea. If you have an  laptop, you know what I mean. PC trackpads are fucked up to begin with, so it doesn't matter.

  • i use it in Ubuntu with wine xD

  • i use safari on my p.c. ,its really fast

  • I'm unfortunately a PC user, however I'm still writing this comment on SAFARI, it even has spellcheck, it is just mile-way better than the FUCKING IE7, by the way IE7 steal the tab feature from Safari, and the worst of all, they copy in the most crappiest way ever, it even freezes every two minutes (if you are lucky, if not, in every 30 sec!) Thank god I switch to Safari.

  • Yeah Safari is bad ass if you have a fast computer it is crazy fast it it has more than 512MB of RAM

  • back-back-back-back-back xD

  • you forgot firefox

  • Firefox wasn't released until 2004.

  • its awful for windows

but on a mac it works a dream

  • What an in depth critique you have provided.

  • I changed from IE to Firefox to Safari, Safari is the best browser i've been on.

  • Me too!

  • I changed from firefox to safari. Safari rules!

  • ohh yeaaah, safari is sooo sweet...

he often use to say sweet, doesnt he?

guess hes realy in love with apple!!

  • He'd have to be to do what he's done with it over the years.

  • welll he sorta has to be... he owns it

  • well, the CEO that existed b4 Steve's return wasnt really much of a speaker and at the time he owned it.

  • "what is this?" its a compass dumbass lol

  • love Safari, but not without Inquisitor

  • I wish I was on a Mac, JUST for Inquisitor.

  • One month later, I'm on a Mac!!!

  • i take it back, i just downloaded safari and its good, maybe faster...

  • Pwned. XD.

    EMZ=]

  • dude lol, but one thing about safari though, it doesnt load some pages in windows xp. So i had to switch back to firefox 3 beta 5, if they fix it i would totally choose safari.

  • oh, and what browser is better? btw, look at the numbers, Safari 3.1 and Firefox 3.0 is several times faster than any other browser

  • I don't see any noticable speed difference at all between Firefox 3 RC1, IE 7 and Safari 3.1 on Vista Business x64

  • i'd have to say i prefer safari for vista over firefox.

  • How can you be entirely innovative for a web browser?

A web browser is a window with a tool bar, and you expected Apple to reinvent the URL?

  • HE says they DO.

  • i dont know wether to give you thumbs up or down for that statment...

  • I wish they release the final version of Safari already, for Windows I mean.

  • the safari browser is awesome but not much things supports it yet.

  • I haven't ever have to use an other browser because Safari 3 doesn't support it in Leopard.

  • wll men i have a macbook and let me tell you that it is even faster than fiferfox and all of the internet browser that i hved downloaded

  • but is this the fault of safari?

i'd rather say its the fault of vista..^^

  • its because its not a dedicated program to windows just like hoe I.E is way faster on windows then mac but I.E is slow for macs because they wernt made for each other but I.e on windows is faster then safarie on a mac

  • i think you just said the same thing 2-3 times over...

  • lol i use mozzila on my xp.

ie sucks, it feezes my computer.

    shitty ms:[

  • yeah, i agree with you. ie7 always freezes...

  • safari 3 kicks ass, its my main browser

  • Despite the memory leaks, Mozilla Firefox has amazing add-ons. Ad block Plus, IE Tab, DownloadHelper, Fasterfox, etc. That and the speed is incredible, more so than Safari (despite what Apple says). It won't be long before Mozilla overtakes Explorer and with Mozilla 3 not to far away, the memory issues will become less of a problem.

  • 1. No, it doesn't. Safari is two times faster on IE on Windows, and 1.6 times faster than Firefox on Windows. This is based on iBench-test suite.

    2. Well, now it's only the millions of users who still uses IE left then?

  • I just switched to Safari i am running win xp pro and it works really great

  • Not on the Mac it don't. Firefox on Mac is basically a direct port over from the PC version, so it doesnt take advantage of a lot of OS X stuff like Safari, Camino, OmniWeb, etc does.

  • yes but camino is baisically Firefox optimised for the Mac, i still prefer safari

  • eh, only thing about Opera is it is not open source

I myself am partial to Firefox.

  • Open Source... are you a programmer? Do you plan to program and contribute code to the Firefox project? Most people will say no to this, and to that I say "then it doesn't matter to you." All open source means is that people can find bugs more easily and crap. But has it made Firefox good? No, it's still full of security holes (very bad ones I might add), still slow and still requires decent hardware and 1 GB of RAM to run effectively.

  • eh, I've had firefox run on a P3 with 256MB of RAM, so the memory probelem is not as bad as people say. the problem usually occurs when playing flash video (you know, maybe adobe programmers can't code for a good browser).
