david2589 nailed the directions to a tee.  If I may add... when extracting the flint you have to knock the striking wheel off it's base... what inevitably happens is the spring loaded flint comes flying out and you'll never find it! Solution: pry out striking wheel inside a cloth or shirt so the flint is not lost!

easy... obtain any lighter that has a flint in it... take the flint out, stretch the spring out, attatch flint to the spring by wrapping around the flint, heat the flint in a flame untill red hot, throw the flint and spring, and thts what happens... except he hit a powerline making it look better lol
