While his monologue jokes are pretty bad, Conan's wasn't much funnier (but Conan knew how to transition out of them better and play them off as being bad jokes). Again, most of the material is of the same nature as Conan's so I don't see how a person could find Conan funny and not find one thing at all funny about Fallon IMO.
When it comes to TV shows, I honestly don't know why most bash new guys expecting them to be on the same level as their predecessors. It was seen in the 90's with Leno...
... and Conan (the first 4 years of Conan's show was in risk of being canceled) and now with Jimmy and, (even though it's a different genre of show) Drew Carey.
It takes time for one to get use to things. I think Jimmy will be fine in a year. His first episode (that I reviewed) showed a lot of promise imo. He's still testing things out and seeing what works and what doesn't.

I suggest you watch the very first episode of Conan back in 1993.
IMO, Jimmy's First Show> Conan's First Show.
