I love this version & play it a lot. It is amongst my favourites - along with some of the more traditional.

It uplifts me & aligns my day onto a strong, positive, loving, more balanced setting.

Not all versions are for everyone. Though not to your taste, it is uplifting & a gift to others.

Scrapbook: REJOICE in the Lord! I am sad for the church that has lost it's zeal and is so reverent and pious and apathetic the saving grace of Christ does not move them. David worshipped with the TRIBAL instruments and music of his culture and God was pleased. Not all of us are "dragging God down to a worldly level" by being happy in the Lord. What happened at the cross was so indescribably wonderful and dynamic there are no words; so we celebrate in spirit! Praise the Lord, OH MY SOUL! :)

As a child, I remember singing this song with my family accapella style as that was the only way that was allowed. I value my upbringing that taught me reverence and an appreciation for music. However, I love to see my teenagers singing these same words, not with sadness and mourning, but with joy and happiness. They sing this as a song of praise. The writer's name is Horatio Spafford. He was a business person in Chicago in the 1870's, and having lost all he owned in the Chicago fire, sent his wife and daughters to Europe to start over. He stayed behind to wrap up affairs, but as the ship was sailing, was sunk. His wife was the lone family survivor. Spafford sailed ASAP to comfort his wife on a ship that took the exact route that the ship that sunk took. To Be Continued....

You have to be very careful against this kind of error. We are never to let our emotions dictate the nature of God to us, only his truth and by faith (the proper response) to the truth which is childlike submission then God reveals Himself to us. You can't let songs like this that play on the sensual side of the soul dicate the transcendent nature of God which God alone reveals through faith

Amen, there is nothing inherently wrong with the guitar, or drums, it is the fact, that both instruments are used by worldly rock bands, who spread nothing but the glory of the flesh. The problem you fail to understand is that this music style is completely sensual and appears to the sensual side of the person emulating the sensual gospel .. the sugarcoated garbage preached in most churches today...anyone with discernment skill must reject this style from the church preserving its rightful purity in music...music should be praiseworthy to God, not sentimental pleasing to the senses
