Hey guys!! Cool vid cool enclousure!! Hope she is okay!! You gave her realy a nice home!! How many T's you got?? I have also a nice Collection just Check it Out if you want! Where are you guys from? Best regards
love the t and the setup good job but how long did it take for her to decide to decorate lol my girl is a scruffy monster its just web web web but shes a happy t .peace
Great vid - thanks for the tips on both the setup and the brilliant handling technique. Mine's due a strip-down in the very near future and I'll be taking a lot of that on board.
Frankly, it's amazing to see how much effort you put into that setup! Some years ago I had over 100 birdspiders myself, like 40 different species. I'm thinking of starting over again with this interesting and beautiful hobby. :)
Dried grass as a second layer - genius! I hate it when my t's dig up the bottom layer of vermiculite, it looks awful - thanks for posting this vid, I'll be using a second layer of dried grass from now on! Lovely Ruffy too, very chilled out. I don't think I'd have the balls to dig a pokey out of it's lair with a paintbrush like that!
Cheetara must be very happy with this beautiful home. Just neglect what the others say it's too big... A spider live in open system in the wild.. Would that be too big? lol
Ja mam Avi. metallice i mam 2 warstwy i wilgoć trzyma dobrze.
@albertoceronentei I don't recorment using heat plats/cables for any T's. It's better bring the room tempertur up to 25-29 C* in during the day and 22-24 C' at night.
Beautiful set up for the poke. I'm thinking of getting me a P. metallica, but i need some space. In my opinion pokes are the most fascinating in the hobby. Great you guys. A pleasure to watch your beautiful spider.
Wow, what a stunningly beautiful terrarium! Kudos, you obviously put a lot of effort in. Don't mind the haters saying it's too big, they're just biased! You don't happen to have a website with pictures of your cages? I'm thinking about rehousing my Avics and need some inspiration :-)
Great vid by the way you guys - she's a beautiful T! I want a Pokie (got an option of a P. Ruffy, but I'm skint at the moment!) I have a Cyripagopus sp. "Singapore Blue" (AKA Lampropelma violaceopes) in a very similar setup to that, but he's off to Denmark to get a girlfriend, so my C. schioedtei will be moving in once she's bigger.
Keep up the good work - you have some great vids and wonderful Ts!In the wild, Ts have unlimited space, so why not a large tank? Whilst most Ts do not venture far from their hide, surely it's better to provide space? If you're worried about feeding, throw more in and then add a few woodlice to clear the waste!
Common consensus seems to be that one should provide a terra 2.5x the T's legspan by 1.5x. So, a 6" B. smithi, 15"x9" ought to be OK. A Pokie can reach 9", so adults need 22"x13" (nearest on sale is 24"x18" Exo terras). Of course, it is economically impractical for most hobbyists to rehouse after each moult, so a tank may look big initially, but the T grows into it.
I've watched this a few times now and love it. It was probably at least a month ago when I first looked but now I have 3 ruffies living communally in a sweet jar so it has far more interest. It's good to see large tanks as nature doesnt tend to restrict space like we do and I'm therefore considering putting my 3 into a 45x45x60 Exo, this gives me great inspiration and I'd love to hear your thoughts on how this might work.

And, the spider will be stressed out in a big tank. Why? Because it can't "feel and sense" it's surroundings. In a small tank, they are able to know it's entire envirement. In a big tank, their senses will be decreased and it may result in shorter lifespan, bad sacs, not willing to breed, eating less, just to mention a few things. You don't have much knowledge about Poecilotherias, right?
@michellekate elitists are assholes for this same reason i try not to use forums always some turd ready to shoot ya down for some petty oneupmanship kinda stuff awesome T nice enclosure too screw what other ppl say i keep Ts ppl who dont need just leave it lol as if you know anything bout our hobby fuckin big fat clown shoes :P
judging only by facts u are totally wrong. a big terra means a more natural environment. if you provide the correct humidity and temperature your poe should live just as much as she would in the wild. and if u were smart enough to watch all of Kate's posts you would have seen that she's kind of a pro. cheers
Are you seriously this dumb? So tarantulas in the wild, who has no limitation of space, suffers the same? I don't know if I should laugh or just shake my head in disbelief. Way to shoot yourself in the foot with that post.
To the poster of the video: Your tank is nothing short of great. Keep the videos coming. Subscribed :)
What is your point, other than reciting common knowledge that everyone in the hobby know about? I was replying to some tool, who claimed the terrarium was too big. Sorry, but you misinterpreted my post completely. Read subfuscap's post, and you understand.
@subfuscap Can't get a feel for its surroundings? Seriously? What do you think happens in the wild? There aren't any glass walls out there to outline a T's living space...
@subfuscap "You don't have much knowledge about Poecilotherias, right?" With all due respect you sound rather uneducated yourself! Quote: "In a big tank, their senses will be decreased and it may result in shorter lifespan, bad sacs" well in that case we better go collect them out of the wild because they have WAY to much space out there! The environment the tarantula seeks for comfort is that of it's lair or hide(log, burrow, etc). That is where the animal feels confortable in it's enclosure.
Really? How can you tell? Have you been a spider before? Are you talking about being confortable or just surviving? How do you keep yours? Please bless us with your precious words!

@subfuscap Then we need to get as many out of the wild as we can because last time I checked India is bigger than a ten gallon tank....
Give them a log or a hide that they feel comfortable in and they'll do fine in whatever size tank you put them in.
