  • where do you buy the food for the handfeeder thing and where did you find the hand feeder thing?

  • @haxorus456 Food at most large pet stores "kaytee exact , hand feeding formula" and the hand feeder thing is a ear irrigation syringe found at most pharmacies

  • @haxorus456 you can use a regular syringe from the pharmacies

  • that looks like glue

  • Wow the baby shuts up fast once food goes down its gullet.

  • lol he was all like wtf are you guys doing here go away!!! oh look food! yummy! no don't take it away give it back!!! yay!

  • lol he was all like wtf are you guys doing here go away!!! oh look food! yummy

  • What did you feed it because I found a newborn bird hurt and I am trying to help it.

  • When will mine lay eggs? its the rainy season yet they have not layed eggs.

  • I hate people who hand-fed chicks -.-

  • Okay you're gorgeous, but pleaseee.. Shut up! :)

  • what tempreture for the baby finch ?

when do you feed every hour or 2 ?

  • Do you still have that bird?

  • Nice! i hand-reared a clutch of these from a mating pair a few years back--very fun! I think I had about a 70% survival rate, and the little fellows imprinted on humans to an extent I hadn't expected. Whenever someone entered the room, the little flock would zoom right over and land on their head. It was great. They liked being preened by humans and were, of course, very quiet ("beep...beep...beep...").

  • lol is like is saying : GIVE ME MORE MORE GIVE MEEEE xD

  • How do you know when to stop feeding them?

  • @deanna15128 couple ways, by trying to judge him emptying his crop in two hours, and the crop being distended but not stretched,

  • oh man they are soo fricking cute

  • He's a loud little dude. He keeps peeping for "MORE!!!"

  • thank you so much...that will save alot of baby's finch life...

  • @davidbgeez123 turn everything off and listen , home in on the sounds

  • and when you find them turn off the lights and use a flash light to make them easier to catch

  • when are they old enough to mate and breed

  • @davidbgeez123 six months but I would give them a year.

  • ccani i feed them if they r like 2 days old??? their parents dont take care of them at all!

  • coky little guy arrent it xD

  • That cute little zebra finch is so funny if it gets feeded haha, that funny sound is also cute.!

  • What are you feeding them ? :O

  • Umm what do u feed them?

  • @RushHourful small types of grass seed or spray millet just make sure its a variety :) The problem is sometimes its not enough protein so what i would suggest is Cuttlebone or Oyster Shells. An alternative includes boiling eggs and using a food processor to chop up eggs with eggshell or just the eggshell alone should suffice. :) Also zebra finches like chickweed or dandelion weeds.

  • @pyroboy120 first 2 weeks roughly every 2 hours

  • Do you feed they till they stop fussing?

  • no. just till the crop is full but no stretched out

  • is she/he (sorry dont wanna call her/him "it") always squack like that? :P :)

  • just when hungry, as adults they make a pleasant " meep meep " sound

  • does anyone know where you can sell zebra finches. thanx

  • Wow!! I never thought you could hand feed finches too. After they grow up, do they get attached to human like parrots do? How do you wean finches? Thank you !!!

  • @chinfinger they become very attached too humans, I think they end up more sweet than parrots , they wean just like any other bird

  • Thank you!! I will definitely try when I get an opportunity to do so. Thank you for your comment.

  • In a way I don't think that is a very good way for them to be handled.

  • Hello mcbstuntman

On my school we feed the chicks crumblefeed.

That's birdfeed is a special food for chicks.

Nock youre finger on the side of the bowle till there eating the food, because just born chicks don't eat it before you show that it's eatable

Sorry, my english writing is not without faults so I hope It helped you

  • what do you feed them?

  • any ideas wha to feed baby chicks/ nestlings anyone :) plz

  • what are you feeding them?

  • Namaskar I feed them "exact handfeeding formula" It's made by the company "Kaytee"

  • Can budgies and zebras get along in the same cage?

  • yes

  • I have two zebra finches and they have four eggs :D I really love them ^^

  • MOAR

  • hows this bird getting on now? they arent normally tame, i should imagine its super tame due to being hand reared. i used to breed these, they have got to be the easiest birds to breed. well done for hand rearing him, must have taken a lot of patients.

  • lol ur finch seems to be very hungry lols.

I CAN'T FIND THE FEEDIN FORMULA cuz im in the city, and my closest place to get stuff is in blacktown. do you think they sell it there? and does it matter how old they are to use the formula?

    thanks

  • @panthergal78:

Your best bet is to talkto bird soceitys, or checkout some bird forums, vets tend to frequent them.

  • i think its abandoned

  • mine has 4 eggs one is about to hatch YEAH!!

  • Congratulations on rearing it. I had to handrear cockatiels for the first time last year, their parents abandoned them. It's really tiring. Zebs are so cute <3

  • how cute! I love it! finches are my favorite pet

  • what do u give them to eat...

  • I feed "exact" or "zupreem" hand feeding formula, but there are are many differnt brands you can get them at many pet stores or online.

  • what is the mix that u use??regardss from ireland.

  • hello Ireland.

I have relatives in Dundalk (several generations removed)

I use "Exact" hand feeding formula

  • cheers!!

  • my bird has 10 eggs and they dont hatch. wat should i do

  • WOw 10,000 views , Eileen is famous!

Thank you everybody for your interest

    nonskids

  • Some parts of the video it looks like you are feeding it on the left side (birds right), doesn't that make the food go into the wind pipe? Or is it not the same as Cockatiels or parrotts?

  • I don't inject the syringe int the crop , Instead I put the food into the beak and allow the baby to swallow naturally , It takes a bit more time but is much safer, and it doesn't mater what side I feed from because the tube never enters the esophagus.

  • i found a baby zebra finch on the ground thats almost starting to fly, how do i care for it??? what's in that syringe your feeding it??

  • So cute mine shout like that too lol

  • do they do anything strange when they have eggs

  • no not really unless shes having aproblem , like bing egg bound, nesting birds need lots of calcuim , use a cuddle bone

  • oo cool

but how do u noe when they have eggs cause she looks fat but when she gets out of nest nuthing iinside

    please replyyy thank you

  • I would say, just wait and see.

  • how much times a day to u have to feed it

  • at the age in the video , about 5 times a day when first born they get fed every 2 hours .

  • Like put food in my hand?

  • put seed in it's cage if it eats it your ok , if not go to petco (or the like) and buy "exact" or "k-tee" hand feeding formula and a syringe, read the instructions and and start feeding , soon , it will die in a couple days without food.

  • CRISIS!!!!!!!I just got one 3 weeks and a few days old baby girl!(zebra finch.)will she be able to feed herself without anyone helping her?PLEASE answer soon!!!!!!!

  • maybe , offer seed if it doesnt eat you will have to try to hand feed

  • really cute, it gave me memories of my handfed zeb finches, but they all died,

im gonna try it with canarys and other types,

p.s they sound like they're baby crows

  • very cute! =)

  • hii this guy came to my dads store and brung him a baby finch without a mom and it has food but its not old enough to eat solid food do u have any recipes about making that baby bird food my dad cant go to the pet shop and he dosent want it to die he tried feeding it and i feel bad for it please reply right when you get this message asap please before it dies :(

  • If your dad cant go then Someone has to get feed for this bird asap. It will die from starvation in 24 hrs, exact is what I use , petco etc sells it, making your own requires many ingredents has to be cooked up. and new batches constantly made. exact only needs hot tap water, In a pinch you can grind up unsalted crackers and mix with water but this is only a emergency measure and used for only a few feedings.

  • yes, this will shut him up. :)

  • Hello,

I partly hand fed my zebra finches to help the parents who had 8 of them but it did not make them tame.

Is it because I left them in group, with their parents?

At what frequency do you feed a baby finch if hand-fed alone.

They say "when the crop is empty", how long does it take to empty itself?

Thank you for your answer. Cute video :)

  • All birds digest differently, also temp and humidity, the brand of food will play a factor. as a rule of thumb the first 3 weeks the feedings are approx every 2 hrs around the clock, Resist the urge to over feed, allow them to empty, if 2 hrs went by and the crop is not empty you should wait till it does. Hand feeding is a delicate balancing act, and something the amature should not jump into without fully knowing what is involved

  • Cute bird. :)

  • aww little birdies are the only animals that dont annoy me.

  • uhm... ironicaly little birdies are VERY annoying they demand atention and are very noisy..... but whenthey grow up its not that annoyin anymore!

  • How do I mix the Exact for Zebra Finches. My female is sitting on eggs and I'm taking one to hand feed so I really want to know

  • The container has pretty good instructions on it , but I usually mix it a bit thinner than they recommend, I found that they tend to digest the thinner mix easier and you have less chance of dehydration but it increases the amount of feedings.

  • thanks alot nonskids that really helped :D ty! and one more question, where do zebra finches come from?

  • they are native to Australia

  • And how much do u feed them plz reply to both of my comments

  • till the crop is extended but not overly full.

  • where do u get the formula for the baby zebra finch? and how do u make it?

  • you can get "exact" at most pet stores inculding petco and petsmart, the instructions are on the container.

  • how many times a day do you feed them>>

  • I feed by how long the crop takes to empty about every two hours when first born then gradually the length of time increases as does the thickness of the formula, check out my "Raising 3 sun conures music video" to get a idea.

  • where do you get those syringes? Mine are too wide at the end... air gets in the crop.

  • At a local breeders supply store called "north point" but I'm sure you can find them online.

  • i have a pair birds finch, and they have now eggs, can you pleaz tell me when should i t ake them from their parents and how and what sould i feed them and how and when plz plz plz plz plz plz plz plz your so kind plz plz plz plz and thank you so much !!!!

  • you can let the parents sit on them till they start growing feathers , I feed them with "exact" hand feeding formula ( petco , petsmart, etc sells it) . you will be able to see the crop feed, any time it totally empties.

  • so when you feed him that you dont need to feed him water?

  • The bird baby formula is mixed with water.

  • how does it learn to eat seeds when it grows up?

  • they eventually wean them selfs, they start to beg for food more and more offen. it will go from 4 feedings to 10 and it will be like some times ur feeding them and they just spit it back up and then a hour later beg again and do it again then after about 1-3 days they will beg and shut their mouth b4 u can feed them and their weaned.

  • lol ok wow very funny

  • Very cute and lively. Good job raising it!!

  • how do you learn thehandfed babies to eat seeds??? and when they are how many days old??? i raised 2 from day 5 to day 40 and they died both andi think that happend cause of tha wrong weaning time.

  • I personally never forced the wean, what I do is cut millet into 1 or 2 inch lengths and have it always offered along with fresh water.

I keep hand-feeding until it either rejects formula or the crop is full of seed and I have observed it drinking water.

My hand-fed birds usually wean in the 50 to 60 day period but each bird is different and a parent raised will wean much faster. They will wean when ready , please don't force it , my personal view is that forced weaning is cruel

  • whats the food you feed them? i need some quick please pm me asap thank you

    sincere bencints

  • that baby is cute

  • what do you mix to feed it? cuz my zebra finches sometimes don't take care of there babies an they die so the next time they do it i'ma hanf feed the babies

  • I use "Exact" hand feeding formula. but you have to be sure that hand rearing is something you really want or can do, It requires feeding every two hours around the clock, the chick must be kept very warm at first, around 90 deg F, formula must be mixed fresh at each feeding and cleanliness is paramount. If you can do it, it can be the most rewarding thing you do. if not than it will be bad for you and the chick. good luck.

  • Oh my word, that is absolutely awesome! Cool little bird! Noisy though. Whenever it sees you, does it come over to you and hang out with you?

  • It does, It knows when I am mixing baby bird food and hops over to be fed, It enjoys being with someone and is very content to sit in your hand while I watch t.v.
