I've powered one up with no coolent and blown a PSU also. Hier me.
Nothing gives me more plesure than watching it choke trying to work with my maths technology though.
Theres nothing like seeing somthing so powerful it can't handle it well and dreaming of high compression and other technologies that would actually need more Cores and core design depth to be fully utlised.
this is a single Intel Core 2 Duo microprocessor. This tiny chip has two cores on it. If you look closely at the shot that zoom into the chip near the beginning of the video, you can actually see the two cores side by side on the top half of the chip.
Dont them things give a health hazzard? Or is that just in the process of manufacturing.
Anyways, looks cool! Is the surface flat or bumpy? And why dont you make them twice as big, and put twice as much stuff on them so you have a super core :D
haxmuch, they went from big to small beacuse the bigger the more costly for them to produce and us as the consumer to buy. Not a 40 to 50 dollar difference, a hell lot of difference. We are talking hundreds to thousands of dollars difference. Besides, now they can fit more in the small space. Smaller better, less heat, less cost, less fricton less money spent and better performance
They are all von Neumann machines though.

Props to the new Intel :)

by the way, it is smooth, there is a protective covering over the cores because they are extremly delitcate. "Delicate" sorry. They are smooth

is that really a single microprocessor or just a core?

Yes, and it is so damn fast ..
Quad core uses two of these.
