As for not being able to pass through other people, the game itself was originally designed to drain you of your hard-earned money. That's why the game is largely inconvenient compared to today's standards. If you're wondering why there's so many damn traps everywhere and you can't strafe, and two people can't fit in a hallway, it's because it was designed that way on purpose. In fact, the arcade versions slowly drain your health over time.

I hate to say it, but this WAS on the PSX, just more content.

I somehow have a feeling that you didn't play this on the N64, PSX, or Dreamcast. I think you'd have an entirely different view of the game if you had. This was way before we had defined MMORPG styled classes, or MMOs for that matter. There's a very specific way to play this game and that is to grind endlessly, sell ALL your items (keys, pots, temp weapons), maximize gold and spend it all on stat upgrades, THEN fight the bosses.

iv played both the ps2 and gamecube version of this game. and i think the ps2 version plays closer to the arcade version

I remember getting this game when it first came out.

It was a lot of fun.

It has everything that the N64 game had, but became so much better. Too bad the graphics weren't as sharp as the Arcade.

Excellent review! I remember playing this game with my cousins. They would have the super overpowered characters (because it was their game), and I'd be stuck with a weak character, but I'd still be able to do stuff in the levels, and help out against bosses. I agree with you on the graphics, but I still really liked the game overall.

Decent review Frequenczy, but there is a few things I must mention. You don't have to repeat a level to get some items, you can do some deep searching to prevent it. Also, replay value is added when you start a new game as the same save profile, but when you change characters and trying to get your characters the highest level possible in the game.

*in Uncle Chan's voice* One more thing, *end uncle* there are secret levels in the game where you can unlock more characters.
