  • So, wait... he's "callous" because he says that he's going to help her out individually before he explains why he's against nationalized health insurance? It's too easy to throw the switch "YES" to spending your constituents' money. If Coburn thinks that government shouldn't intervene to do SOMETHING about the ridiculous per capita cost of medical care in the U.S., that makes him kind of dumb, not callous.

On the other hand, not much dumber than the commenters here who've missed that point...

  • Coburn is a scumbag like the rest of the republicans.

  • Comment removed

  • WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW...I can't believe he said that. "The goverment is not the solution for our problems?" Well then the citizens are not the solution for the goverments problems, and if that is the case pay for your own damn deficit instead our (the American People) tax dollars paying for it.

  • In a just world Tom Coburn would be strangled to death by a homeless man.

No, wait, in a just world the chances of any of us meeting a homeless person would be drastically reduced because people like Coburn wouldn't be in positions of political power.

  • health insurance is a fucking scam.

  • @canisdormit

The entire American society has been counfounded by the addiction to money , dumbed down to utter stupidity by

american Idol , Wives of LA , Marilyn Manson , and various other sundry idiocy. We are become STUPID and

intellectually lazy . Read a book for god sakes ! Heres a start : The Cancer Stage of Capitalism by Prof.

    John McMurtry .

  • coburn is a terrible person, disgusting excuse for a human.

  • @Silverweed

No , he is just a Republican whose purpose is to conserve wealth and the status quo for his class . The Dems might do something to help ordinary ppl , if they are not co-opted by corporatism . the problem is concentrated

wealth which has led to unaccountable power , arrogant power , a power which demands that you bail out

their irresponsibility while preaching the " personal responsibiity mantra .

  • Motherfucker needs to pull himself up by his bootstraps and heal himself *hops on my giant eagle and soars off to a foreign country to bomb brown people*

  • This is truly one of the most despicable things I've ever seen. I cannot believe the number of people who would cheer for this asshole.

  • Goddammit, these vile antics won midterms for the Republicans. How the hell didn't they scare everyone away?

And Obama bows to them while spitting on the people who voted him into office at every possible opportunity!

  • shit, i'll just move into the trashcan next to his house, remember him about that speech...

  • I never liked Coburn to begin with, but he's earned my disgust right now.

  • None of MY neighbors are speech pathologists. Some may have PHDs, but they are also all disabled and poor, so my neighbors can't help me.

  • The title makes it sound way more calloused than it was.

  • why the fuck are people clapping, are people seriously that mental???

  • @KangaKucha There are a few people whose job it is to clap really hard when they say certain prepared talking points. That gets the whole crowd going.

  • so let me get this straight, huge military spending: yes.

    healthcare for americans: no

"A nation’s greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members."

  • Colburn and his fellow Republicans (and some Dems) oppose public healthcare for ordinary people but are quite happy to use it themselves. That makes them hypocritical scum of the worst kind.

  • he is right about the inaccurate part

  • So who in the audience went over to her and offered her help, those that applauded.

Is someone going to help feed her husband?

  • Also point out that Coburn has government run health care himself.... Can you see the contradiction there a little bit.... republicans are inhuman bottom feeders....

  • 50 years ago, before modern medical technology and innovation exist, the Dr. just simply tell you: "take your tablets because there is nothing we can do". Nothing is free.

  • I'm guessing no one in that room would give her more than $20, and only after being put on the spot. My neighbors would NOT shoulder my medical costs, there aren't many neighbors on the planet who would pay their neighbor's healthcare costs. Get real Senator, you effing idiot!

  • Excellent comments! Spot on.

  • I live in Okla. and he's a crook that worships Satan. He HATES women and even fixed a woman during surgery extra that made her sterile WITHOUT her consent! I hope GOD sends him to hades soon with the devil...we have too many crooked criminals here-state and city!

  • I live in Oklahoma and I am embarrassed of both senators from my state. It is becoming more obvious to me why this state is in such horrible shape worst schools, lowest paying jobs, no unions 3 point beer meth meth meth.

  • Can we talk about how the neighbors giving money to help their neighbors kind of exactly like people giving money to the government so that THEY can help their neighbors?

  • xorasel: Yup, it's a great idea. Now say that you've got a white neighbourhood and there's a black house in the neighbourhood and they come into tough times. Or even just one white guy percieved as an asshole-- let's say he's a clever guy, and a bit of a contrarian. If he's for whatever reason in trouble and needs help from the neighbourhood, is it not going to be played out by the neighbours as precisely a humiliation, and a proof of their superiority?

  • Somebody needs to tell "tiesto" that I don't know or care who he is, will never enjoy random beeps as music, or appreciate him interrupting my TYT...

  • Don't worry about bashing, I totally respect your opinion. :) Apparently I got a bunch of thumb-downs though, oh well.

Anyway, I agree that it's a horrible thing to ask for and that's one of the reasons I don't really think it's a good system (or at least why I don't think the idea would work).

I know he said his government office can help, I just took it differently than I think most people took it.

  • Let's see which of my neighbors in walking distance have an emergency-trauma room set up, and a surgical operating room set up in their homes. NOPE! HAVEN'T FOUND ANY! I SUPPOSE WE'RE SHIT-OUTTAH LUCK! (The "Party of No" strikes again!) it was reported that American citizens' average life expectancy WENT DOWN during the eight years of the Bush Administration. This jobless recession that Bush and Cheney created -- our life expectancy continues to go SOUTH.

  • Hopefully you'll be the first in line.

  • Why? Because suicide clinics are too close to reality for you? Let me tell you something, this sham of a HC plan is never gonna pass. And even if it does, the republicans will destroy it once they get into office. In the mean time the rest of the sick population will just go on dying. Ask yourself this. Wouldnt you want to be able to end ur life with dignity if you were sick w/o the means to get treatment, knowing full well youll probably die? Why do ppl get angry at assisted suicide.

  • Shouldn't you ask yourself that question? It's your solution. I'm just hoping you'll test it out first. Make sure they work properly.

As for me I'd rather try to find cures for my illness, but then I like my life.

  • i have asked myself, and i have said yes. Youd rather find cures, and thats fine, but w/o health insurace, you wont reap the benefits of those cures. For those that cant afford cures, the only viable option are suicide clinics. Its a sad reality.

  • hence why we won't healthcare reform... duhh

  • You're crazy if you think HC reform will ever come. Maybe some laws might make HC a little more consumer friendly, but it will hardly cover everyone, or in the way most want it to. What im talking about is the inevitable result that will come of this HC sham, that no ones really serious about solving, but rather just perpetuating the argument. I, as posted before, forsee suicide clinics in Americas future.

  • The funny thing is, government never seems to be evil to conservatives when its buying guns and building up a military the size of the Soviet Union's forces, but whenever it tries to spend money helping people, then it suddenly becomes evil. The Republicans are fine with government telling you who you are allowed to marry, what medical treatments you can and cannot have, and tapping your phones, but to use that money for healthcare, THAT is what makes you a Nazi to them.

  • I agree. This debate is really over what our tax money should be spent on. But in the end it doesnt really matter. I think the republicans, when they get into office again, which they will, will destroy whatever obama puts into place. Theyll be back to spending money on what really matters: WAR!

  • OUTSTANDING COMMENT. I could not have put any better. When I think about republicians and conservatives, 3 words come to mind, Ignorance, Hypocracy, and Brutuality.

  • More jars with coins and people's sad pictures on them in gas stations.

  • Wat pisses me off the most is the entire audience clapped. If I were her I would stand up & say then I can expect money from each of you RIGHT??? In which the crowd will turn their head and say oh, that's right, I don't agree with what he just said because now it's affecting me..

If he had it his way her husband would be dead since an ambulance is government intervention and he had head trauma which almost certainly needed to be responded to by 911 which is......

    yupp you guessed it GOVERNMENT

  • Actually some misrepresentations. Conservative Republicans have been documented to donate more to charitable causes than people of other politics. Also, this was not an example of someone getting 'kicked off" but one of a type of care not being covered. Has anyone demonstrated that the "public option" referenced will cover speech therapy? It was not demonstrated here, only assumed that it would be. Of course, that assumption may prove untrue.

  • They give money to churches who don't really help the poor.

  • That is the most insensitive, close minded, ignorant thing that I have ever heard. You not only have no idea about the problems in the current health care system you are also stupid enough to believe that the solution is something as simple as switching you job. I pray that you or someone you love doesn't get cancer so that you will never have to experience first hand the problems in our current health care system.

  • if the govnmt is incapable, why pay for it?

  • Muslim communist? That just shows how much you know and how you believe.

  • So???

  • Well first of all. You hurt your argument with the all name calling at the end.

What makes him a communist? Oh and with out the stimulus bill, the jobless rate would have been at 15% 4 months ago and still growing. The econmy is getting better and growing.

The right sure are worried about the deficit all of a sudden. That thing bush used to pay for everything for the last 8years. But bush was no commie.. Cus you voted for him right?

  • Are tax payers not neighbours?

  • we are already a nation of beggars

  • Government isn't the solution to our problems? Then what's the point of government if not to solve at least SOME of our problems?...If government is so incompetent and evil, then why do these politicians ask you to vote and then vote them into office?!?! HYPOCRITES!!!

  • Well, don't you thnk Government is the solution to SOME of our problems? National defense? Police? Firefighters?

FDIC, aren't you glad we have that? FDA, aren't you glad we have safe food, and we test drugs?

The question is what things will the government do well, and whats better left to privite enterprise. I think there is a good case to be make for healthcare. There are a number of reasons that the free market doesn't work so well for it. Can you "shop around" when you are injured?

  • I'm all for a pubic option AND I do not believe that the free market should control critical elements of the community, but I'm curious about these %'s. Overhead does not equate to waste. A private company wants maximum profit so its overheads should be lower because they are constantly scrutinizing. 3% is absurdly low in any organisation govt or otherwise - it'd be interesting to find out the real overhead make-up

  • (dot) pnhp (dot) org / facts / singlepayer _ faq (dot) php #i nsurance - overhead

  • Good questions. From what I've read about economics, Insurances has some big overhead that WOULD be considered waste , from the POV of the consumer.

The legal efforts they go thru to keep from paying claims, for example. The effort they spend giving you the run-around when you try to get them to pay normal claims is another. Both of these cost money, and neither benifits sick people.

  • Good Points. But consider that a company will fight a claim only if the cost of winning is less than the cost of losing (taking into account any precedents that the win may give rise to). A govt organisation probably wouldn't "fight as hard" so to speak. Plus, lush bonuses wouldn't occur.

  • The government isn't the answer my ARSE!

I'm going to borrow part of Cenk's opening line.

"Coburn is a deeply conservative MOTHERFUCKING WORTHLESS SACK OF SHIT!"

How dare he? Happy to take taxes for business, but not to help anyone. BAH!

To paraphrase the Duckman episode, it SHOULD be the HEALTH, NOT healthCARE.

The industry should be there to HEAL people, not to watch people die and do nothing about it.

The hypocratic oath is as dead as dinosaurs that right wing Christians don't believe in.

  • This will sound awful, but I honestly thought that was Mickey Mouse talking before I looked at the video.

Awful joke aside, yeah, she needs help.

    What a callous prick.

  • The government isn't the solution, the people are the solution. It's time for the people to rise up and take this country and make it the democracy its supposed to be.

  • If someone breaks into my house, I'm not calling "the people", I'm calling the government. The police, they too are part of the government.

When the levees break, I want the government to step in a that care of people. Thats why we need GOOD government. And leaders that think its there job to do something. "The people" did what they could, but it wasn't enough. The government did nothing, and we all saw the disaster.

  • riht wing folks are so cold and very distructive to the progress of this country

  • Going to your neighbours for help is SOLCIALISM! I thought the Republicans were against that. I'm pro socalism, but wow... that's incredible irony

  • Is asking for or offering help "socialism"? Not dissing you at all, but that logic sounds strange. I really need to get up to speed with the definition of socialism.

  • Of course not, but believing that you are entitled to your neighbours' help is in fact, in my opinion, socialist... because in socialism, everyone looks out for everyone. For some reason, the republicans enjoy demonizing socialism for that very reason.

  • wiki:

Socialism refers to various theories of economic organization advocating state, worker or public ownership and administration of the means of production and allocation of resources, and a society characterized by equal access to resources for all individuals with an egalitarian method of compensation.[1][2][3] Contrary to popular belief, socialism is not a political system; it is an economic system distinct from capitalism.

  • everbody that has access to a video camera should upload there ideas and suggestions to youtube so these politicians know the majority of americans want Real Reform with a public option pay for it by taxing candy, cigerattes and sugarlaced softdrinks that will pay for it and stop a lot of bad habits.

  • if she lived here in Britain her husband would be looked after for free by the NHS and she would get help and guidance on ways to help him- it's so sad that a country that was once the greatest in the world allows so much suffering- Americans don't mind spending trillions to kill people in the middle east but they don't want to spend a cent helping their own citizens- seriously pathetic

  • Well said!

  • Outstanding comment, thats what I mean by right wing HYPOCRITES. They yell about about being pro life but then support an illegal war where innocent Iraqis die everyday because of the U.S. presense in the region.

  • Outstanding comment. But you know whats the worst part, when u see working class people defending the rich and the insurance companies. Good lord dont they know the insurance companies or the republicians dont care about their physical well being. Its a really sad time in the U.S. right now. 4 the first time in 8 years we have an intelligent progessive president taking action to improve our health care system and all u have are right wing HYPOCRITES attacking his every action, what a shame.

  • @as2711 I am a UK citizen and I find it heartbreaking to see a woman with absolutely no help and unable to care for her husband.. In the UK he would be rehabiliated, I live near to a hospital that specialises in brain injuries, it is NHS too.

  • @as2711 May I move in with you in your country? I am deeply ashamed of mine.

  • Comment removed

  • @fastfords

No motherfucker we don't like YOU . You get the FUCK out !

  • @as2711, absolutely correct. We're all paying around $3,000,000,000 per month to kill people on the other side of the world, yet these idiots get duped by Republican spin doctors into thinking that several million a year to subsidize the cost of a public option is evil.

These fools, that may not even own the shirt on their back because they bought it with a credit card that they can't pay off, are tricked into spreading a disease called "conservatism" to empty headed dreamers.

  • @as2711 agreed, lets stop every abortion first and foremost....i mean you claim to "care" about other people, i cant think of a better way to help people then granting them the right to exist. After every human is permitted to exist THEN and not only then can we debate and discuss how to help those on this earth.

  • So the insurance companies are screwing the public and have bribed the politicians with "campaign contributions". Where is the outrage ? Why are the people so selfish as not to want to provide health care for those who cannot afford it ? What's wrong with helping/loving thy neighbour ?through proper health care. All the people are your neighbours/comprenensive public health care system is the only "christian" way. Yet the Republicans are religious hypocrites and self obsessed greedy bastards

  • That's the problem with republicans. They think capitalism and Jesus are the solution to everything...and if you disagree with them you're a "socialist devil"!

  • Jesus would support national healthcare, but right wing christians don't want to admit that

  • my question is he says ask your neighbors .....and everybody claps? whats everybody clapping about?

  • everybody is clapping so that the "other" neighbor helps out, but not them

  • LOL!!!

  • One thing that public option supporters don't usually talk about is what kind of role the government already plays in health care, and what effect this has on those without insurance.

When driven by emotion, vagaries play best; the omission of vital facts is effective when you supporters are sheepish.

  • OK, you've called us sheepish.. Thats nice. So, what are these vital facts that have been omitted. My everyone else...and you.

  • You want to hear how the government's stepped in on health care?

How about we talk about Medicare and Medicaid being the best health insurance companies, supported by Republicans and Democrats across the board and being government run?

It's effect on private insurance? Not enough money they'd like perhaps. But maybe that'll inspire competition to quit peddling off American lives for profit and revise their system. That's what Capitalism is for, afterall.

  • Medicare is bankruptcy bound, BTW.

The focus should be why the cost of medical insurance is high. We shouldn't call for a government solution to add to our very high deficit spending while assuming we're starting from square one, because we're not.

Furthermore, don't you realize certain companies stand to make large profits if a government plan becomes available? So far I've seen pro-reform adverts sponsored by Big Pharma and Wal-Mart.

The answer is in our past mistakes, not our future ones.

  • cost are so high because its strictly profit driven

  • Why do I not get a choice in insurance? Because my employer can offer a plan for cheaper than I can get myself. Why is this? Because they will get a tax deduction whereas I will not (unless I spend over 7.5% of my gross income on insurance which is more than what I'd pay through my employer). Why? Tax code.

  • As long as my cost through my employer is less than my cost would be as an individual, I will choose my employer. This gives whichever insurance company my employer chooses an opportunity to avoid competition and thus raise prices. It pits the employer against the employees.

  • I am from Oklahoma City, and I can tell you this!! Oklahoma is a place were corrupt politicians live. Oklahoma City for the past 10 years now have been trying to keep newly graduated university students in the state and in the city to help it grow, but the problem is young people don't even get the chance unless they are from really wealthy families. So must young okies leave the state once they get their degree. Oklahoma is like a bonified banana republic.

  • This debate is nothing but Lies and spin.. Its sad that the white house cant do its job and get ppl informed. When a town haller stands up and Screams "Get your gov hands out of my medicare".

The right is working for health insurance Companys, And the white house just cant get the truth out. They say with gov option we will wait in line and ques for hours days or months. That this will some how kill Big biz... When you can still pick Public or private. The white house needs to drop the gloves

  • ANd start making idiots like coburn and the rest of the idiots who do nothing but use talking points from these astroturf groups. Crush them with the facts.. Every time sarapailin opens her mouth about Death panels or Heath care rationing. Have a pres confrence talking about how she ACTUALY did ration health care in her state and how her medicare plan for Alaska had End of life Doc to Pat talks in it. Show these fools for who they are.

  • they are paid to do. On a final note, when it comes to the question of health care, this debate would not be taking place today if these insuranace companies did what people were paying them to do, which is pay for medical costs. This debate is not about left or right, it is about compassion and humanity. To the people of Oklahoma, shame on you for electing that piece of shit COBURN.

  • Coburn is scum as are the hillbillies who applaud his go beg for money comment. If only he was the one dying with brain damage that would be fantastic!

  • Amen Bro. But you what is the worst part, that parasite coburn is a medical doctor and he wants to kill health care reform that will provide insurance to the uninsured. This freaken guy is really a piece of work, but i tell you what, if hell does exist, this fucker has a first class ticket. One more thing, about the hillbillies that support him, its so sad because in the end they'll be the ones getting screwed over by the health insurance companies when a medical emergency arises.

  • The problem is not government trying to take over our lives. The real problem is greedy corporations screwing us over to make a profit, if that woman's husband dies, his death will be on the hands of the health insurance company, talk about death panels. My question to all you so called right wing conservatives is where is your CHRISTIANITY, your compassion, your humanity, people are dying in this country everyday because health care insurance companies are not performing the tasks

  • To the last comment, are you serious? please tell me you where joking around. If one gets sick they should ask their neighbors for help or assistance. One question, what happens if the neighbors are poor or the money collected is not enough to cover the expenses. It tore me up when i saw that poor woman crying about her husband and their current situation and having that piece of human feces coburn brush the main problem with health care insurance aside and place the solution with neighbors

  • Cenk, your being a royal cunt for dismissing folks at the town hall meetings.

Senator Coburn is RIGHT, ask local neighbors, church, find support groups.

  • It takes a special, inbred kind of stupid to be a republican in todays political climate! Seriously, how dumb do you have to be to keep coming back in support of their policies, to keep believing the massive overt LIES the GOP is based on!

The type of mob stupidity the repubs have become are what got us Bush!

We want them deciding whats best for our healthcare now?!

  • Funny how we're required by law to insure our cars.....but not our bodies. I guess we know which one the gov. finds more important.

If you're not wealthy, the republicans are less likely to give a shit about you. Coburn is a good example of that. Ask your neighbors for help? What if you live in a low income neighborhood where everyone's struggling? What then?

  • What an asshole.

  • Well, the reason why healthcare is so expensive is specifically because government has its hands deep into the healthcare pie.

Aside from that, government only acts by initiating violence. To say that someone should hire a band of gangsters to rob their neighbors is immoral. Not to say impossible by your example. You say, what happens when the sixth neighbor begs for help? Well, what happens when the sixth neighbor uses the state to initiate violence against her neighbors?

  • yeah because the gov is going around buying hospitals...wait no ti is not, it is expensive because there is money to be made

  • Hi. I'm from the UK and I don't really get how the US healthcare system works. Can someone please explain to me a few things? Like, if you break your leg and go to ER, do you have to pay in order to get treatment straight away? Or do you get billed after? Is all health insurance private? Do you have to pay for all prescriptions you might have? Are they subsidised by the government? Thanks

  • You get the bill afterwards, and its usualy like $14,000 for a pregnancy test and a cat scan. (Yes, personal experience).

Public "servants" such as politicians have "government "run" healthcare, which they absolutely love but don't believe the rest of the lowly population should have.

Unless you're on medicare, you have to pay for all of your prescription medicines.

  • I can't even get health insurance because of my epilepsy and my mom can't get health insurance because of here problem..we need to atleast f-ing regulate insurance companies....we need something!!!

  • I've gone through ER once and I was billed 10,000 dollars for them to say I have stomach virus(which I really had pnemonia), and tell me to eat crackers. Of course I was able to submit my insurance info later, but usually they expect that kind of info as soon as you check in. luckily I only paid the 50 dollar CO-OP charge of my insurance, but now they don't cover me as often when I get sick oo my mom spends 800 dollars a month for it.

  • This is what is Fuck up about America right here

  • The best part was when Coburn turned to the woman and said, "And the workhouses, are they still in operation?"

Tom Coburn, a man who champions the cause of the rich and powerful, God bless you.

  • When natural disasters happen in other countries, the United States seems to be the first country to offer help. How much money has this country spent to help other countries? I don't have a problem with helping other countries in need, but shouldn't the people of this country in need get help also? Is health care only for the privileged? I certainly couldn't choose between two children that need medical care and only one child has medical coverage and the other child doesn't.

  • I love the community responsibility thing, and then the hypocracy of extending that community charity to the entire nation being a bad idea.

I supose its ok for him, because his neighbours are all rich types who have thier own health insurance.

Also, i thought this when Obama did the same thing, but: Government officials shouldnt be handing out charity to a tiny percentage they see face to face, they should be passing laws to help the majority.

    Damn publicity stunts.

  • great irony-

    most republicans hate socailism.

"Go Ask Your Neighbor For Help" is the whole base of what socialism was built on.

  • Lying, hypocrite Repugnantcons can't say one paragraph without contradicting themselves. As long as we have giant corporations donating to (buying out) congressmen we will always be slaves to them and greedy, souless, cold-hearted zombies like Coburn. Our illness is their gain. The "gang of six" are probably all on the take. So in effect we have representatives of the insurance companies ruling on our healthcare, instead of representatives of we the people. It's all a big sick joke.

  • A long time ago I was reading about biz strategies and tactics. It said there is nothing wrong with asking for things. To request discounts, talk to the manager, look for free things, see what's out there, take a chance.

Anyway, I really needed a car for really cheap or free so I wrote an ad on craigslist requesting a car in my price range which wasn't much at all. I needed it for my family and for my small biz. Conservatives reponded to my ad, cursing me out and called me a hippy. Fuck them!!!

  • may be we could all be neighbors and take care of each other like a national health care plan. assholes

  • ... and you call yourself a Christian nation? ... you're a bunch of zombies repeating government = evil ... wake up you idiots ....

  • That audience clapn 4 this hyperbolic Senator's response was like watching a cult in action.Like Nazis or Soviets in pure propaganda lockstep. Its truly frightening& I'm glad I moved from US 2 the UK,where I spend less of my check in taxes2get really good healthcare.Paid about $16for a filling in my tooth&in Florida in my20s I had 2rot out of my mouth&paid$50 out of pocket 2get THEM YANKED.2all u conservativePIGS,GO F*URSELFS!U godam liarsR torturing people& Uknow it,it's right there on film.

  • I asked my neighbors for help. But all of my neighbors are broke. The only thing we can afford now is revolution. So we're going with that.

  • people need not to be selfish n reach out

  • There goes those pesky Private Insurance Death Panels deciding who lives and who dies. The right conveniently ignores that health care rationing.

  • The problem is this Randian notion that people are inherently altruistic, which is absurd because if it were true, there would be no debate over the benefits of socialism; we'd already be a socialist-syndicalist nation without having to convince people or the true mechanisms of anarchy. people who support the unbalanced distribution of wealth in this country are either poor and stupid or wealthy and corrupt, totally ignorant to the inevitable fate of a laissez faire system.

  • "Government is not the solution"

    Love it.

Let's all quit paying taxes too.

After all, government is not the solution

so what the hell are we paying for?

So bought off politicians can rub elbows in Congress and figure who of their rich buddies get your extorted dollars (taxes)?

I would love to hear what Sen Co-Burn would say about everyone saying a big Fuck You to No-Solution-Government and withholding tax payments...

On the other hand....I've got a pretty good idea what he'd say!

  • What we have here is Taxation without Representation...

and a couple hundred years ago, it way a pretty darn good reason for a revolution!

  • conservative = selfish

  • Coburn basically said "your on your own" in America when it comes to health care. You can pay federal and state taxes up the ying yang, have your sons and daughters fight wars and die to protect the profits and assets of big business. And your own government won't even pay one thin dime for your health care.

  • Isn't collectively pooling everyones money together to pay for healthcare socialized medicine, so wouldn't asking your neighbors be socialized medicine. And Couldn't your neighbors help you by paying there taxes and help pay for a public option.

  • Ask your neighbors what is the difference with public option?!? Private corp. only want your money and don't give a fcuk about your health. Wake up America don't get bend over by corp. fcukers.

  • You're right! We're all "neighbors"

  • What amazes me is that elected officials like Coburn and Sanford can get away with preaching the old "boot strap" idea, but when they need the voters help to get re-elected people are actually dumb enough to give them votes!

  • As a Canadian, whose public healthcare system is crumbling around him, I am shocked at the complete naivety of American Leftists who want to throw away the good healthcare enjoyed by the vast majority in favour of the long waiting lines we're faced with up here.

  • Bitch if it wasn't for long lines you wouldn't get medicine with your shit jobs up there you fucking fool. Thats what russians said about food after the soviet union sold out, except its opposite now, now in russia its, We use to wait in line for food. . .but atleast we got food. Count your blessings you little shit.

  • These Republicans are nuts "Neighbors", please that just shows you how out to lunch these guys are on Healthcare. This just shows we need options, there are many people out there like this woman. This was an excellent case in point. I must say anybody out there going behind these repubs are crazy.

  • So do what they do for schools...

    1. Hold fund raisers to help pay for things that should be covered in the budget but doesn't because of increased costs and budget cuts.

    2. Put a mileage increase on the next ballot which will be voted down anyway because people value their own money more than educating the young.

    3. Cut the budget some more because fund raisers can pay for everything that gets cut.

  • yeah...we need to get back to helping our neighbors. just as long as its not paying a little more in taxes so our neighbors can have healthcare... b/c thats something completely different. God i hate these hypocritical pricks. do they even listen to themselves talk? dear Sen. Coburn, please open mouth then insert foot.

  • you just need to have the public option! THIS video explains why... i'm glad i'm not living in the US and A like ali g would say

  • What I've come to realize the kiddie-anarchists and new-right people have in common is a naive fear of any form of human co-operation if it has the name and form of "government." They're fetishists, who will let cities die in want for the sake of delusional principles about how mankind and the universe ought to be.

The PROBLEM is one of long overdue REFORM of government - for indeed, it ought to BE the forum where "neighbors" meet to help one another and do justly by one another.

  • Yeah so where is the neighborhood that will cover my $400 a month prescription bill after i lost my insurance?

    What a joke.

  • cenk is a retard, the answer to health care is neighbors helping neighbors, not the govenrment creating death panels and rationing care so if your an atheist, anti-american neo nazi you wont be the only one treated by the government. can you imagine what obama would have said to her "sorry but i dont believe your husbands life has value, and it will cost us money please just go home and end his life" democrats; fucking despicable

  • there is no fucking "death panel" you fucking brainwashed moron.

Your ignorance is what's wrong with this country.

  • Haha, yeah cause it was the Republicans who passed the Civil Rights Act, Medicare, food stamps and all that other stuff that helps poor people and people in the margin of society. The Republicans did that. Right.

Get your head out of your a**

  • Please please PLEASE stop with the death panel talk because that has been debunked to the nth degree.

Obama said to the weepihng woman that came to him for help"yes I will help" and not only hugged and comforted her but...wait for it...HELPED her.

Please stop with the Fox News talking points.

  • really, what neighbor would help you if you need chemo therapy. People are not willing to help anyone, and if you have no neighbors, then what? Really, Democrats want to end this woman's life. Read the bill, do not let Fox act like they have read the bill. Nowhere does it say rationing care or death panels. This was concocted by Michael Steelew and many other Republicans who do not care about people like me or you.

  • Yeah, I like to think of myself as a caring guy who'd like to help out, but I don't know the first thing about assisting with traumatic brain injury or trying to get someone who won't eat to do so. There's some stuff you can't rely on your neighbors to provide.

Also, how 'bout that audience freeking applauding that guy's rhetoric just after that woman poured her heart out? Man ...

  • That audience scares me a little. I mean what kind of audience would applaud that. Guess the old saying is true. People are smart individually, crowds are stupid collectively.

  • Ask your neighbors for help, but take the public option off the table. lol.

  • The Government isn't the answer. What ever gave anyone that idea?

That is like thinking the Banks are in business to help you out. Common! Seriously? lol

No, the government does not have the answers nor do they have any authority to do so.

Yeah, people need to rely on themselves and their community.

The Government, HA! Might as well go as the Mafia to help your dying husband. They might actually give a shit. The Government kills thousands everyday - they have no ethic morality or compassion.

  • Banks have a profit incentive. Governments does not. That's why everything they run is non-profit. You made a false analogy and a weak argument.

  • Wow are naive. lol Holy shit. sorry.

You missed the point however everyone in the Government is there for profit - don't kid yourself. You are deluded if you think anyone really gives a shit about you as a tax cow. lol

It is unfortunate that all you slaves think you can't get along without a master. But just because a group of crooks have the monopoly on violence and hit men does not give them authority - it just gives them your life, money and property in the end. Doubt it? Don't pay and see

  • Then why is the Post Office non-profit? Why is the FDA non-profit? Or the EPA? Or the FCC? Or the FDIC? Here's the thing about our government. It's a democracy. If they do not satisfy the people, they are voted out of office. It's as simple as that. You fail to backup your argument as to where the profit-incentive is with regards to any interaction between the people and the government. I just defeated your argument with examples. Where are yours?

  • Try looking at where Bush's entire cabinet went to work after they left office. The Sec. of Treasury is ex Chairman of the FED (private bank), CEO of Goldman Sack (us), The US Government just awarded BP and China 1.7 Trillion dollar in Iraqi Oil. Haliburton made Billions (Ex VP Cheney worked for), Blackwater, Halliburton/KBR, CACI all profiting nicely -

People move in and out of Gov. Agencies and Corps. profiting from them. You are an idiot if you see that.

What fuckin' planet do you live on.

  • You defeated your own argument. Notice you said "after they left office." If they are no longer in office (government aka public sector) then they are in the private industry, which only supports my argument that the private industry is entirely based on profit incentive. Name one government agency that is profit incentive. Medicare? FDA? Post Office? EPA? Come on, name ONE. I dare you.

  • God you are retarded.

The Government isn't 'For Profit' it isn't a Corporation - It generates Profit for its elite members - you moron. God, how can you not see that?

So there is nothing corrupt to you that Cheney was paid $500,000 severance from Haliburton before he left to become VP and Haliburton just happened to be the exclusive weapons and arms dealer in the Iraqi war? That Goldman Sach is the ONLY Bank to show a Profit during a Depression? Get some education - PLEASE! OMG.

  • You fail to prove how government is there for profit. Goldman Sach and Haliburton are in the private industry, dumbass. Give me a government agency paid for by the American taxpayers (similar to the public option) that has profit-incentive. I'm only asking you to name one, and yet you fail to do so. Why? Because there are none. The public option is an excellent idea and will bring down costs specifically because it would be a non-profit organization competing with the private industry.
