Gun fires. My first thought(after picking my asshole up off the floor)was that im pretty damn sure if an elderly person wouldve been here,id be doin chest compressions! Yep it can penetrate about 40mm of armor ina short distances,

Still would make very fine anti-material rifle today. AFAIK some new South African and Hungarian sniper rifles use the round still. They probably could penetrate any modern APC save heavy models derved from MBTs (Israeli ones done from T-55)

Although it's main purpose was an anti-tank rifle, it's cousin rifle the PTRD was known to have scopes attached during the Korean war, giving the rifle an effective range of 1500 meters. Also during the battle of Stalingrad the PTRS was used as an anti personal rifle. I can't find any articles saying that the PTRS was ever used as a scoped rifle
