  • Krisiun no Technical Death metal

  • Necrophagist is the Shit! Technically brilliant & catchy = Long time addiction.

  • Opeth is technical death metal too!

  • ok the singer of wormed sounds like a fuckin pig literaly

  • Pestilence sounds like Iron Maiden....

  • Gojira friend? o.O

  • Thought Krisiun was kinda Brutal Death Metal

  • Decapitated???

  • origin, cephalic carnage, anata, and decpitated would complete this list nicely. Also sleep terror if you consider that a band.

Also think nile and decrepit birth deserve higher spots.

    Good list otherwise

  • wtf???? necrophagist 18??????

  • Uh, Where's Cynic? Or The Faceless?

  • Also a little disappointed in no Demilich or Molested. Oh well :)

  • Comment removed

  • my fav list: decrepit birth, nile, quo vadis, arsis, atheist, cynic, morbid angel, death (not necessarily in that order...)!:-))

  • decrepit birth should be right at the top of the list! these guys are in a league of their own!

  • one good, i dont see you have is Rings Of Saturn or are they deathcore?

  • Thanks for posting this. I just found Neuraxis a short while ago, and have been on the lookout for similiar. Going to take your suggestions, as well as the others in the comments here. Thanks all

  • These are all very good bands on this list but my favorite ones are Krisiun, Becoming the Archetype, The Faceless, Quo Vadis, Psycroptic, Cryptopsy, and Vital Remains.

  • Justin Bieber disliked this video.

  • U sir, have very good tastes.

  • Decapitated is missing....very disappointing..

  • I love a lot of bands that are referred to as "Technical Death Metal," but I dislike the term as it reminds me of bands like Brain Drill who are technical just for the sake of it. I like bands like Obscura, BTBAM and Blotted Science, who are insanely technical as a result of their unwillingness to compromise their "compositional integrity," not as a focus of the writing process. Bands like that often write the music before they even know how to play it, which is probably why they sound so good.

  • NECROPHAGISTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT

  • brain drill?

  • Pretty good list dude! But some bands shouldn't be in this list and some should be added, but also the bands that are 'none technical death' that u used are great.

Hands down on Wormed. One of the sickest bands on earth!

I made a top 20 best death metal albums of the year 2011. Watch it if you like! Think there are some bands in you might like!

  • Gojira aren't technical)

They are great altoigh, especially their last album.

And yes, where's Obscura and Theory un Practice?)

  • Isn't Wormed more like a Brutal Death Metal band?

  • @Powermachine123 I think that it's probably both tech and brutal death. The drumming in particular is highly technical, and the lyrics are more obscure and philosophic than graphic or violent. Neither label is good enough by itself, so I'd personally consider them technical brutal death metal.

  • @Eupator5 I see. Come to think of it.

  • @Powermachine123 Im not sure but I always think about wormed like a Brutal death metal band, not technical; despite of the experimental and innovative that wormed is.

  • this needs Fleshgod Apocalypse, Obscura and Decapitated but other than that its a kick ass list

  • @Weetodd1000 Fleshgod and Obscura are fantastic IMO. Personally though I've never thought Decapitated was especially great, just that it's a pretty good band. I'm thinking I really need to give them another chance. What would you say is their best album? I've heard the First Damned BTW.

  • @Eupator5 Personally I think Nihility is their best album, but I'm sure many people would disagree with me on that. If I put them on here I would place them right behind Decrepit Birth.

  • @Eupator5 I'd say to give Organic Hallucinosis a listen and then maybe Nihility or Winds Of Creation.

The drumming in Day 69, Post Organic and Visual Delusion will grab your attention.

  • @Eupator5 Check their first Winds ov Creation and Nihility

  • @Eupator5 As when it comes to brutal, listen to the 'Winds of Creation' album.

Then go and find their albums Organic Hallucinosis and Nihility. They really show how much different they are from other death metal bands

  • Krisiun isnt Technical Death, neither Lykathea Aflame, Becoming The Archetype no way, pass you Wormed for lyrical theme, Gojira neither, Augury its Progressive, Vital Remains dude? fuck man you should learn a lot more about Metal before classifying bands.. where are the really great bands? Obscura, Beyond Creation, Entrails Eradicated, First Fragment , Monumental Torment, Viraemia, Brain Drill, etc.. Please learn.

  • Great list, man, really. I absolutely agree with you, but Lykathea Aflame at 16 ? It deserve better position ;)

  • No Decapitated? That's kind of a problem......

  • Äeon of Horus??

  • I watch those kind of lists just to find bands haha :)

  • Good list, but...WHERE THE FUCK IS OBSCURA??

  • DUDE THIS IS THE BEST LIST EVER!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @MetalReigns2 Thanks, I'm glad you liked it.

  • becoming the archetype its good but christian shit lyrics sucks u_u

  • @XxYamiHiroshixX No argument here. Some of it is just bad marketing, but self-avowed "Christian" bands (especially metalcore ones) often seem like half-assed ripoffs of much better secular bands, and with awful lyrics to boot. Becoming the Archetype avoids it better than some IMO, but they still suffer from it.

  • 1 deathcore fan see the video :)

  • KRISIUN - 4EVER

  • brain drill and decapitated, anyone?

  • @brentbanaagbaab Very agreed. Decapitated revolutionized Technical death metal and Brain Drill are probably the most brutal and technical band in death metal today. RIP Vitek \m/

  • DEATH!!

  • i like to sudjest an other:

    ORIGIN!!!!!!

  • What's the name of The faceless's song at 6:32?

  • @websterx9 Leica. The songs are listed in the description.

  • @Eupator5 Oh Oops xD i never read the description :D sorry man thanks anyway

  • awesome list there! question: how did you avoid copyright? pls answer. thanks

  • @Tripletblast I've had some videos blocked for violating copyright, and this one almost was. Apparently youtube just blocked the videos because someone claimed it violates their copyright, but in this case I argued that this video qualified as fair use (brief song snippets used to facilitate critical discussion). Youtube told them my position, and they didn't pursue their complaint (otherwise it would have been taken down no matter what), so they must have found my video acceptable.

  • Cephalic Carnage mate

  • @Liamowers Hell yes

  • @Eupator5, wheres, hour of penance, fleshgod apocalypse, origin, paths of possession, (new school) cannibal corpse, (new school) deicide, hate eternal, dying fetus, and severe torture ????????????????

  • @stevvvvveperry Fleshgod Apocalypse, Hate Eternal, and Hour of Penance almost made the list, I don't particularly like Origin (though I don't dislike it), I don't personally categorize Dying Fetus, Cannibal Corpse, Deicide, or Severe Torture as tech death, and I haven't heard Paths of Possession (though metal-archives calls them melodeath, so they probably wouldn't qualify anyway). In retrospect I probably should have put Brain Drill somewhere on here, but apart from that I have no regrets.

  • @Eupator5, paths of possession, are a mix between tech and melo deth, u wouldnt exactly call them straight up melo deth, and u cant really put, nile, death and atheist on the list, without putting cannibal corpse, dying fetus, deicide or severe torture on there, atheist are more melodic deth if u ask me, nile have to much of an old school thrash/death metal sound to them, to be accepted as full on tech deth, the same goes for death, cc, and deicides new stuff, is as tech deth as u can get really

  • @stevvvvveperry I strongly disagree that Cannibal Corpse or Severe Torture qualify as tech death under any meaningful definition of the term (though I nevertheless like both bands), though perhaps Deicide & Dying Fetus might. As for Atheist, they're light because they combine death metal with jazz and latin elements, not because they fuse death metal with NOWBHM. I agree that Nile isn't a perfect fit for the genre, but Death is almost as important to tech death as atheist and cynic.

  • @Eupator5, i would agree that wen chris barnes was the vocalist of cannibal corpse, u couldnt really call them tech deth, but wen corpsegrinder became vocalist, they became as technical deth as any other technical deth band, and severe torture arnt exactly strait up brutal technical death metal, but they do fall under the genre of tech deth, i reakon u cant get alot more melodic than atheist, but ur rite they do have some tech deth elements.

  • @Eupator5, and u mite of been able to call death technical death metal 20 yrs ago, but compared to some of the bands now, their hardly even erelevent

  • @Eupator5, and brain drill suck.

  • @stevvvvveperry To quote the Dude, "yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion man!"

  • isn't Becoming the Archetype deathcore?......on the other hand very nice list.....but......I have to ask.,......where is Origin?

  • @sicksatan666 I don't consider them deathcore. Their first album was straight-up metalcore, but since then they've been doing prog-influenced death metal. Technical deathcore would be stuff like Born of Osiris or Animosity, and while I like both bands, they sound nothing like Becoming the Archetype IMO. I'm not that into Origin, I find it a bit formulaic and boring, if rather virtuosic. I much prefer something like Cephalic Carnage or Wormed, because for me deathgrind should be a clusterfuck.
