a couple years ago my parents planted lots of plants that would get dug up by squirrels, my fathers solution was to hang the plastic sacks from walmart from steaks on the ground around the house. it was kind of embarrassing.... good luck with the squirrel maybe you should use that cage trap in the attic with nuts and see if it works good luck!

My husband is an ole phone man. He used to have to crawl into attics to pre-wire houses. They ran into lots of things, even snakes. Someone once told them, he kept squirrels out of his attic by putting fox urine into the attic. His exterminator poured it onto old rags and left them in the corners of the attic and they swear they had no more squirrel problems. I think you can call exterminator or get the urine from Sporting good stores.

You didn't mention finding any droppings.
