  • where did you order you henna?

  • @kdnbella I ordered it from Mehandi.com :) . You need to make sure any henna you buy is BAQ (Body Art Quality) and not a compound henna. Compound hennas have other "things" added to them. There is no such thing as color hennas, those are compounds.

  • hi...i suggest mixing with yogurt instead of

  • @HairLikeMyDaddy Thanks!

  • Nice results. I think its the acid in the lemon juice making your hair dry rather than the henna. I read that some people use chamomile tea instead.

  • hi reshon, i do my hair with henna n indigo too and i know what you mean about the dryness... but in my experience if u add oils/shea/cocoa butter to the actual mixture it decreases the uptake of colour on the greys and roots. i reckon its better to do oil treatments etc in between the colourings. But in a way the feeling of dryness is a separate thing from the strength issue cos there is definitely less hair breakage after using henna :-)

  • Hi! It is nice to meet someone else that uses the indigo with the henna. How are you adding the oils and butters into it? I need help please (lol)!!! The strength is awesome, but i hate my brillo pad feel :(. Always good and bad to everything (sigh).

  • You subsitute another type of acid that will be less drying than lemon - diluted apple cider vinegar and distilled water (not sure of exact measurements but twice as much water than the acv should do). Also recently I've tried diluted red wine and that has worked great. I also heard orange juice, green/black tea can be used but I have not used those.

  • Thanks for the great tips!! I had said that i would never do another henna, but you got me rethinking it (lol). I love the color and the fact that it is natural, but the dryness was the thing i hated. My hair already felt kinda dry so i was not trying to make it worse. I have been debating it though. I might try it with the vinegar/ water or maybe the orange juice. I will post my results if i do! Thanks again :)

  • I mix mine w/ olive oil and cider vinegar instead of lemon juice and I noticed a big difference in dryness. Let me know if u decide to sell yours. I will gladly buy it. I was going to order some tmw anyway.

  • Omg, i never saw this til today! I have been so out of it so i sincerely apologize. I ended up using it, i added olive oil to it and mixed it with orange juice and i loved the results! I am so sorry to be getting back to you this late!

  • reshon, what was the henna/indigo you used? I am interested in trying different brands. I Love what the henna/indigo I used did to my hair. I came out sooo soft, felt thicker holds shine much better and finally I can get a great curl pattern. My hair is much shorter than yours tho. watch my vid my first henna to see what I did. and let me know where you got yours. Thanks!

  • You know it never occurred to me to deep condition after i henna'd, I was so stupid i raked through the super curls i had and lost so much hair. My hair was a little dry but I read up on the package that the henna was supposed to condition..I think I took that to well to heart LOL.

I moisturized with shea butter and glycerin afterward *after redetangling my hair and losing so much* I wish i knew I had to do deep condition again before the ordeal. I may not henna again.....i'll see.

  • Well it is confusing because everything i have ever read says that henna is suppose to condition, but i have used it at least 3 times and it never fails that my hair is dry afterwards (even after a conditioning). I have just decided to leave it alone. I think my hair will thank me for it. It is still recovering from a henna i did not too long ago. I am sorry you lost some hair due to it :( . I know i didn't like it, the color was nice and natural, but it is also too messy and too long to do.

  • I figured you would still want sum info on why your hair is so dry after a henna treatment. Henna is a PROTEIN treatment... meaning it is supposed to add strength to the hair. If your hair is already strong and has all the protien that it needs added protien will result in EXTREMELY dry hair You can actually look this up on youtube Its called protein overload I hope I helped!

  • Hi Mzbarbie06! Thanks so much for taking the time out to send me a message! Actually, i did another henna not long ago and i was pleased with the results! Yeah i know about protein overload but this time i added olive oil and my hair has been fine! Just have to tweak things sometimes :). But thankyou for your help :). It is appreciated!!

  • hey reshon..i've been thinking of doing a henna and indigo treatment.(am going for a jet black look)..my hair is relaxed and has never been colour treated...but i'm not sure of the exact measuements in doing this...my hair is neck length, if it helps...plz send me the measurements that u used..and i mean avery little detail..lol...and 1 more question...by adding olive oil does it make the colour change or will my hair still turn out pure black??

  • You should do a deeeeeeeep condition after: i.e. Mix olive oil, shea butter, coconut oil, a lil honey, apply with a color brush, cover in plastic & let it set a few hours and rinse. There's a tutorial on here...I just forgot the sis' name though (type deep conditioner).

  • Thanks so much! I will try it. I don't think i am messing with henna again though, my hair is still recovering.

  • Beautiful hair!!!!!!!

  • Thank you so much :)

  • I was contemplating doing a henna/indigo treatment but I was fearful of the dryness my hair may experince. Have you found a way around that yet?

  • Honestly no. I figured that doing a really deep conditioning treatment would make a big difference, but i use all natural products and i think that they sometimes don't compare to the conventional ones. I hate to say that, but i think it is better for your hair (natural) just may take a little longer to get use to. I saw a video where olive oil was added to a henna mix. That may have made it better but i forgot about that. This might be my last henna though to tell the truth. My hair is dry :(

  • You look so beautiful! I want to try the henna...one day :-). I love the wrap also, I have been looking at a couple of colors I want to buy. Looking at your wrap encourages me even more!

  • Girl i may be selling mine for the low low if i can't return it! I just think my hair doesn't like it. Don't get me wrong, it is awesome and i love the naturalness of it, but my hair is so funny acting. Lol, believe it or not, the wrap is a thermal shirt! I couldn't find my regular scarf so i had to be creative. Go for it!!

  • Cute viid!

  • Thankyou! I appreciate you watching :)

  • Where did you get this henna from?? I want some??? Great video, girl! Keep doing you!

  • ooh, i love it!!! your hair has come so far reshon...you are simply glowing now, confidence is really hard to hide..lol and you have it ! indigo black, huh...beautiful!!

  • Hey girl! funny cause i was just thinking about you (lol). Yeah, henna and indigo makes your hair a beautiful jet black. I need to post the pics, but you might not be able to tell since it isn't a dramatic difference from my normal black. But thanks so much for all the support and kind words! I feel pretty good about where my hair is going and where it's come from. I can't wait to get that ponytail though (lol)!

  • I recall when you sent me a message taking about wanting to get a perm. You should be glad you didn't cuz your hair looks good, girl!

  • LOL!! I remember that like it were yesterday, i was just so confused about my hair and i didn't have a clue what to do. Some days i still don't (lol), but i will NEVER get a perm. Thanks for talking some sense into me friend!!
