No, it's a 1.8T out of an Audi TT 225. Of course big turbo....and he's also running nitrous. It's AWD converted.  This guy is very popular in the UK.

yes it's hard to do, and yes it's damned expensive. £10k-£15k should get you somewhere near to building a 4WD mk1 golf running either a 1.8T or an R32 Turbo set-up. You need in the region of 400-500BHP to go sub 11 seconds, even with 4WD

wrong its all about hp/weight ratios. dont need 400+ hp to run 11s, take for example Atom or any sport bikes.

och i tunieing and parts are exspensive , too , (love this moter ,, tbh) ive done a home made idea , nothing too good , fitted a 2.8 /24v turbo 4motion caddy , for a bit of fun ,, i just hope it holds out for a few runs , lol , if i get a 13 ill be very happy as ive 12.750 sat in it ,,

Hi mate,its not expensive if u do your self but its hard as it needs flor pan from mk2 syncro,haldex contrroler etc.look at my video clips ,my mk2 quattro 1.8t 20 valve.

most racing teams have sponsors. And it is not that hard to make mk1 with 4 motion all you need t-boned r32 /cry, that way both trans and motor/computer are in good shape. worst part is rebuilding mk1 shell to handle all that torque and fit r32 block+turbo under hood. that y its common to drop motor in hatch and make it rwd.
