I've worked with students like Eva and her behavior is a typical shield. She knows the school and teachers are hard, so she's going to be harder. She's going to be judged, so she'd rather be judged for her harsh attitude than her talent. Its almost a thug mentality. To be expelled as a tough guy than be seen as stupid. Teachers can try to say or do anything to these kinds of students, but ultimately the choice to rise above their own attitudes is up to the them.
first of all, it's obvious that she's exaggerating the lack of turnout. nobody would get into a company school without being able to do a proper retire, and it being as horrible as hers was when she was being corrected. and notice how during the actual exercise in the centre they weren't showing her feet? second of all, the teacher's not being a bitch. she's being a teacher. ballet is a cruel world and you need to be pushed and tested like that to see if you have what it takes to make it.
This is SOOO inaccurate it isn't funny. Eva would have gotten chewed OUT and eventually thrown out for her lateness. Also, she would have gotten thrown out in a heartbeat with her attitudeand swears. In the Nutcracker I just danced in, we had professionals dancing the hard parts, and the girl who played the Snow Queen reminded me of Jody-not the best fit, and not the most technically perfect either, but she wa just one of those dancers that you couldn't take your eyes off of. Just goes to show that technique is NOT everything!

you do not need to be tall to be a dancer or a ballet teacher - e.g. gelsey kirkland was really tiny and short and an AMAZING ballerina - and she is now a really good teacher. Also when many dancers retire and become teachers they can put on weight. Look at footage of quite a few ageing legendary ballerinas - they may blimp out but they have much to pass on to younger stars.
they would never have taken Jody IRL...no way would they take a girl with a turn out like that. you can't teach it at 16 years of age, can you? they make it very obvious what they are going to do here from the beginning with the teachers

I don't care if she's from Sweden, with hair as blond as blond can be, and skin as fair as snow. you do not need to be tall to be a dancer or a ballet teacher - e.g. gelsey kirkland was really tiny and short and an AMAZING ballerina - and she is now a really good teacher. Also when many dancers retire and become teachers they can put on weight. Look at footage of quite a few ageing legendary ballerinas - they may blimp out but they have much to pass on to younger stars.
