  • My first pistol. I moved to a Kimber after the Ruger and have always missed my old reliable. Very good pistol and was well worth the 300 bucks I paid back in the day.

  • i'm a very happy owner of the Ruger P95. never had a problem with it. that matched with the crossbreed supertuck is a great investment :)

  • I was dead set on getting a brand new P-95 as my first pistol, but when I got to the gun shop there was a flawless P-89 sitting in the display case and ended up buying it. It's a great gun for guys with huge hands. It's a full size service pistol, holds 16 rounds, weighs less than a 1911, conceals well in the custom leather holster that came with it, more reliable than my chevy, and accurate to boot! I couldn't think of a reason NOT to get it. Now I'm looking to get a P-90.

  • @randomvalleydude P90's are awesome...built like a tank and will last a lifetime.

  • love your channel and my p89

  • Love the vid man and I agree they need to bring it back I hate plastic guns love the p series I have a p90 and now I'm looking for a p89 love the old school guns the best can't beat old school

  • yea Ruger went the way of the striker....not a fan of striker triggers..with parts they can be great...but my main bitch is i dont like striker pistols...i like seeing the hammer up or down...

  • Nicely done vid, very well articulated comments. Straight to the point. One Thumb up-vote.

I have an early 'P95'polymerr w/o the molded pic rail, too bad Ruger will not sell me a copy of the newerpolymerr. I wouldn't think there would be an interchangeable problem.

  • I've had absolutely no luck finding a Ruger P89 or P91. I found a P95DC (DC I would heavily prefer) but it was so beat up and I'm just not interested in another polymer gun, my SR9c fills that role.

  • My first gun was a P-89, loved it, still regretting selling it. I now have a p-95, love it too. Tank is a good work to describe the P-series pistols. It's a zombie killer that will take a serious beating and still function.

  • @flightoftheunknown same here buddy had a nice ruger p 89 w houge grips, and a cheaper than dirt 30 rd mag, sold it to buy a springfield xd 45 service size, not regretting the springfield, just getting rid of the ruger, i now have a sr 40 and am having "issues" with it, of the 450 rds ive put through it ive had 4 jams, and it wont chamber a hp unless the triger is reset before i chamber a rd, debating weather to send it to ruger or get rid of it...

  • I've been carrying a P345 from about 2007. My only complaint is finding holsters for it. It's as reliable and accurate as any of my Sigs. I probably have 4500 rounds through mine. No problems.

  • I agree, I love the P series pistols. I'm a big Ruger fan also. I own 10 altogether. I have 2 P90s, a SR9c, and a SR40c. The SR series are nice, but I find myself carrying my P90 all the time. I'm looking at getting the P97DC and seeing how you have one, what do you think of it? The P90 is nice and heavy and I can just make the front site dance on target. How does the P97 handle? I see it is about 7 ounces lighter.

  • Seriouslt not an insult in anyway i own a P89-DC and recently purchased an SR-9 OD and in no way should the bring the p- series back hold an sr-9 in your hand and you will see why one it is a 17plus 1 slim profile grip light weight and accurate the p89 is 15 plus one with a fat grip its heavier and less accurate believe me p89 not an ideal carry pistol either compared to the slim sr-9

  • @69JuicyFruit your missing a point...i have big hands and holding a glock type weapon feels loose...the p95 fits my hand great, actually had to get a hogue grip for it so it would really filll up my palm...people with big hands need guns with fat frames...

  • No issues with my P345 :)

  • I could not agree more! I love the P series!

  • I think you should go out and purchase a Kimber, or a Colt, or a Sig Sauer. I have learned that when it comes to firearms, You Get What You Pay For. If you only buy 300.00 guns then thats all the quality you can expect. Is Hi Point your favorite manufacturer? Please do a review on a Kimber stainless Raptor II full size and you will see Quality, or a Sig Sauer P229 Elite, or a Colt Gold Cup. A firearm is no place to sacrifice quality for price.

  • Be sure to fire an SR9c or SR40c....I got my SR9c for 398$ out the door, and you can tell the difference for the 100$. So far I'm up to 1500 rounds with only one stove pipe that was an ammo problem.

  • I love that P89.

  • Millerusaf do you ever have problems with that mag release? For example the mag accidentally being released during firing or draw in the pistol?

  • I have a P95 and never had 1 problem. Fantastic weapon. I will not ever sell it. I couldn't be happier. Now if Ruger would bring back the pc9/4 carbines, I would be a very loyal customer.

  • own the p-89, its heavy, buts it has to be one of the most reliable handguns ever made.

  • i have a P345 and it shoots really well..never had a problem out of it either!!!

  • nice vid man..im a ruger fan too!!!!!

  • I have a p91-dc/.40 s&w with a hogue grip. it was mt first handgun, a 21 birthday present from my father. i have never had a prob with it since i have owned it. i wont ever sell it either.

  • The same p97 but with the SR series safety would be awesome, imo...:)

  • I love carrying my P97 but then it feels almost like I'm cheating on my Glock. I put an Uncle Mike's slip on grip sleeve on it and it feels perfect and natural.

  • I agree...My first handgun was a Ruger P89. I have put more rounds down range with that gun than any other gun I own. NEVER had one single problem with it. Always preformed flawlessly. I liked it so much I bought the rest of the P series family. I will never part with any of my P series guns. For the price you can't beat them! Hell my P89 was 269.00, I bought a few guns in that price range and they were POS's. Wouldn't fire reliably even after coming back from the factory for repair.

  • Can you please post this vid in every gun forum and send them this vid? PLEASSSSE? LOL

  • I don't know if I totally agree here. Everything stated in this video is true, however you really need to try something in the SR line. Had a p90 for years, it was great, but my sr9 is much nicer and much higher quality.

  • Ruger Makes Damn Fine Pistols! I have a 44mag Super Black Hawk, P97 DAO, & a 17HMR Red Hawk! Love Them! I also have a 1911 Colt but I hardly ever shoot it because I had rather pickup my P97!

  • The way things look right now I wont be surprised if Ruger discontinues the P series entirely in the next few years in favor of the SR series.

People love those light weight striker fired pistols, and I'm one of them. My Ruger SR9c is such a fantastic pistol.

My interest in Ruger has tempted me to find a good P series pistol, however I don't want any pistol with a manual safety that deviates from 1911 style.

    Up safe, down fire.

There are decocker only P series.. would like to find one.

  • I concur 100%... Great shooter great value

  • I agree 100%.

  • my buddy bought one new it was a ok gun after he shot about 350 rounds through it never accurate enough fer me though.

  • i love ruger i own p345 and p95 and love both especially the 95

  • Thanks for the vid. I'll keep my eyes open at gun shows.

  • I loved my Ruger P95 I had, I wish I never traded it fir the three long guns I got for it I had the money right now I would go trade for another1

  • My first ever handgun was a P85, I have no comment on it.

  • @semiautoriflelover1 Was it a pre-MkII model?

Those did have some issues when they first were brought out on the market.

  • @millerusaf Yeah, mine was very early, my Mother told me not to say anything if I didn't have anything nice to say lol. The guy at the gun store tells me I need a 9mm because I wouldn't be able to handle the powerful .45ACP in a Colt 1911. I traded the P85 in after a few weeks for a Colt 1991A1 and fired it 8000 rounds that year.

  • @semiautoriflelover1 That is why I'm glad I have the P89 model. I wouldn't mind having a P85 down the road just for collecting purposes.

  • @semiautoriflelover1 your back. your like me, you keep changing your name.

  • Good video - you say what a lot of us are thinking. Ruger needs to get in touch with it's owners and bring the P series back. You simply cannot find a better 300 dollar ball bark price gun made in the USA. Even the older Police P series turn ins are still running great. Keep up the good work that you do for the fire arm community sir.

  • i am a big ruger fan as well they make great firearms at good prices. i absolutly love my p95 its built like a tank and will fire anything i run through it. great american gun makers! imo

  • My first pistol was a ruger p85. Never had any problems with functionality, but it was a little too much of a tank for me. I dont think they should bring them back, but instead redesign them and bring them up to date.

  • Love my P95 and would love to own a P89 and a P90.

  • I think they should reintroduce a new design rather than reverting back to the P-series. I'm amazed they haven't come out with a double stack 45 yet. There are a lot of things I'd like to see out of Ruger before any of that though.

  • last year i got my 1st pistol, a P95 & recently purchased my 2nd gun, a norinco SKS. Keep up ur vids, its very educational. Thanks.

  • I've been looking for a p89 for awhile locally and they sell fast.

  • I have a lot of the P-84s and P-89s in 9mm in storage. I get great deals on them and stock up. I liked the alluminum alloy frame for these. A tip I can offer for the P-Series owners looking for a good holster, the M9 millitary surplus ones fit the P-Series pistols perfectly.

  • @Jesses001 If you have a junky P85, feel free to send it my way :)

  • @millerusaf Hum, I do not think I have many junk ones. Even the ones that are scratched and a bit beat up work great. The only junk one I had was A P-97 that was in a house fire. All metal parts were in good working order, but the frame was melted. I gave it to someone who had just a frame so he could make himself a new pistol out of the two.

  • Miller... they have the SR9 and SR40, plus the P95 still... if you want cheap buy used...

  • @SuperR3volver Oh, and I forgot the P345

  • I like Ruger the P series as well and want to get a P90. a used one I was checking out was built like a tank.

the SR9 I've got has run great after a year and a half. a few misfeeds during the first box of ammo, but now its dependable and I like that its slim and 17+1

  • I totally agree. My main gun is a Ruger P95. I want one of the .40's. A wicked round for defense with the heavier bulky profile= manageable power house!

  • I currently have a Ruger P97DC, and I like it. I used to have a P95 and I miss mine, too!!

  • I miss my Ruger P95!

  • the customer service of the RUGER company is great

  • Great video and couldn't agree more. I love my P95, and after putting a little over a thousand rounds through it, the trigger is VERY smooth. People have lambasted me for saying this, but I would carry my P95 on duty instead of my issued Sig P220 if I were allowed to by my department. Truly well made, robust, and reliable pistols for a combat or defensive application, and affordable for people without much in the way of disposable income.

  • i really miss my P89

  • I HAVE A P95, LOVE IT, GOT A GLOCK 17 as well, its not a glock but it's is a damn good back up 9mm. good video

p.s. i have no problem with polimer.

  • Bring back the P-Series;i'm w/u on that,Sgt! Bud'sgunshop.com offers wide seletions/affordability on Rugers. Will add Rugers 2 my collection. Watch ur 6 Sgt & thx 4 ur svc!

  • my p95 is awesome...

  • Had two. A P89 9mm and P90 45. Tanks would be the best way to describe them. Yes there bulky, abit on the heavy side... But man are they shooters!! im with ya miller bring back the P

    -series

  • I had a p89, loved it wish i'd never traded it off.

  • Ironically, it still shoots well with 20 year gunk build up where it hasn't been cleaned.

  • My father has a P85 in 9mm that he purchased in the early 90s. It has Glock-like reliability in function and wear; however, it is a flaming pain the butt to take apart and reassemble for cleaning purposes. I remember him getting it apart shortly after buying it and couldn';t get it back together.........had to take it to the dealer and even the dealer had difficulty with it. He's never had that trouble with any other pistols although this one has never been disassembled since.

  • @Machi74005 all rugers are like that, you ever take a ruger mark 1 apart? its hell.

  • The P series was great BUT, the P89's trigger is in desperate need of more hook. It almost feels short when shooting it.

  • The P97 would be a great option for people wanting to shoot 45acp out of a single stack w/o putting out the money for a 1911.

  • Thanks for your vids....

  • Right on, those are the best value guns out there. Good quality too.

  • The main things I would like to see on a P-series would be sights like the SR models and grip and interchangeable backstrap like the M&P's. Then yes a couple longslide versions.

  • blocky...:(

  • I love the P series Rugers..i just picked up a used Ruger P94 in .40 cal at my local gun shop last week. and ive had a P95 for several years. Rugers are very reliable guns...i would buy more P series if Ruger came back out with them. Keep up the good vids Miller

  • I just got a "Used - Unfired" P95 from the local gun shop for ~$250, still had grease/oil from the factory all over it which seems like a great deal. Can't wait to get out to the range soon! And, once it's tested out, it will become my OC carry gun.

  • Indeed, they should.

  • I love my P89DC, it will never stop shooting.

  • Picked up a p95 for 320. While I love my Glock 19 I really enjoy the DA/SA capability of the p95. I can shoot it faster and more accurately. I wish the rear sight was farther back and while I do not external safeties since I can use the safety on the Ruger as a decocker I can overlook it. While I have not had the pleasure of shooting all handguns available the p95 is the one I recommend for people who plan on owning only one firearm and insist on it being a handgun.

  • I love my P95, for the price point it really is hard to beat.

  • Polymer may be cheaper for the manufacturing process, but it doesn't get reflected in the retail market. An XDM is $550-700...Glocks run over $525...I won't even get into Sigs pricing. Sure, Taurus and some others may be saving people lots of money with their poly guns, but I haven't noticed a reduction in prices for the poly vs. metal. Polymer guns have been around for a long time, too; the first Glocks started rolling out in the early 80s... I guess it's like anything else, though.

  • Add more tacticool, improve the ergonomics and give it a longer length barrel. Then put it in between the SR and the 1911 but keep it around 400.

  • They just seem blocky and dated. I think Ruger discontinued them due to declining sales. All about the math and what makes the company money, I guess.

  • theres not much choice in a dependable D/A S/A under 400.00.

Stoeger Cougar maybe? never owned one and cant find one.

I asked my local gun shop about a SP2022 today. They carry several Sigs "above 800.00!!!" they didnt know what the hell i was talking about...he thought it was a .22

  • Good vid and info. The SR9 is the most accurate handgun I have ever shot

  • I love our P95~we've had it forever, and have never had 1 problem with it.

  • p345 was an improvement imo

  • As i've said I have a P345 and it hasn't given me any trouble at all. I might of been able to do better for a first handgun but I sure could of did worse. Mine has been very reliable and buds gun shop has a blued one for 349. I'd suggest picking it up and trying it out it has a very thin profile and would make a great carry gun. To me I think their doing well with the P95 for a budget gun, I dunno about the 345 new being a budget gun they run about 450 new, but the 95 is abit over 300 new.

  • I totally agree Miller. I went to my local range and rented a P95 for the hell of it. I was impressed. I would like to have a P Series in .40 s&w. It was comparible to my Sig Pro 2340.

  • I've never owned one. Never shot one. But I've held them, and they feel REAL nice!

  • I got the P-95 its nice

  • I have a ruger kp345. I love it you can go from driving nails with one end to driving tacts with the other.

  • Most handgun hold up very few people shoot///train enough to wear them out....never seen it except for mil. Hear a lot guys brag about it but never seen it. Kinda like the UFO thats in my backyard.

  • My dad had one for a long time also had good friend that loved his.

  • Still got my old Ruger P89
