I got this problem on my sp 505 where if i have too many samples in the same pattern they start to cut each other out. do you know why this happens? Any way around it?
thats because of the 8 voice (mono) polyphony limit on the 505. if u use stereo samples then there are only 4 samples that can be played at the same time. so as you can see your best bet is to use only mono samples. and if still it is not enough use the resample feature and layer your sounds and resample to save those precious sample voices.
I got a problem wit my sp-505 where if I have too many samples in one beat they start cutting each other out. it's driving me crazy and it seems like the older the box gets the more it does it. I'm reduced to kicks, snares, highs, bass, and maybe one or two samples. Any ideas?
i think sp-303 and sp-505 work at 20 bit, a good sound, sp-404 work at 24 bit, a little flatter sound.
anyway, could you save your sample via Digital in (optical or coaxial port)?i mean there are no way to save .wav in sp-505 so could you record (or send samples) by the way i told?
no, there is only a digital in not out. only way to record your beats as far as I can remember (I dont use 505 for more than a 1/2 years) is to use RCA outs into your recording hardware/software.
i tried sp-404 after trying sp-303. i find the sp-404 harder and less precise than the sp-303. could you tell me if sp-505 pads are more all less like sp-303 pads?
when you hit auto chop it chops automatically and if you do not like how it chopped in auto mode you just hit 'manual' and add/remove change chops manually zooming in and out of the waveform and placing markers. just like on mpc.
if you want to record it as sample through RCA incput then yes of course! But if you need to record MIDI messages then you need to know that MIDI on 505 is quite useless as you can basicaly only trigger samples from an external gear or play & stop patterns or songs. look for something else like MPC if you need good MIDI functions.
Synths are very cool in the 505, this is the machine that Chris of underOath uses for a lot of stuff. He records from his keyboard as well as cds and records.
of course there is. this is a sampler and the main purpose of samplers are to record sound data. I just loaded drum loop because I found it online rather than dug it up in old vinyls. otherwise i do always sample drums from records.
you always will need mixer for vinyl because mixers have preamp that makes sound from wax louder - otherwise it is too weak. but if you are sampling from a CD, computer or any other digital sound source then you can directly plug your RCA's into 505 and sample that shiiit quickly. 505 has even a digital sound input connector I don't use it but if you have the cable then you might try it too.
yo, i was wondering if there is a way to load drum kits other than using smart media card and actually sampling the Drum hit , any advise ,let a brother know thanks
Yo fam does the swing only work on drums that were quantized at 16th notes or can u still swing 16.3 drums??

no the 555 doesn't have the pitch function like 505. 505 currently is the only one to have it.

for me the 505 pads where softer and smaller than 404 pads, so i guess they are the same on sp 303.

Can you record a synth into the sequencer of the 505?

can you just straight up take out drums from a song? or do you need a mixer.
