Geoff Tate and the other guys in the band are not gay!! And just FYI: Michael, Scott, Eddie and Chris formed a band called The Mob and they recruited Geoff to sing for them. They released a demo in '81 with four songs on it. One song on the demo was called "Queen of the Reich" and that song inspired them to change their band name to Queensryche.
Whoo hooo! wararrows proved he is a homophobe. gay is gay. it's not good or bad. Fantastic music. Back when the popular look for bands was looking gay for the girls. something wrong with that. i wonder if he's singing to a gay band member. I like this song so i hope not. but then again who cares. I was transformed to be homophobic by my strict school and homophobe family. thank god it didn't backfire on me enough to ruin me.

@XxCr33p3rxX cause it was begining of 90's, some style of 80's was still alive (like rockstars wearing wrestling attires and boots). And Undertaker had other gimmick that time. He had gimmick of biker.
Another GREAT band. Why can't we have music like this today? Whatever this shit that's around these days is disturbing and I hate that my kids like it. None the less, they still love the great bands I listened to back in the day!
the first time i saw them was at the lakewood amplitheater in long beach cali. and the concert was operation mindcrime awesome show.this was back in the early 90's when i was in the navy...glad the navy shipped me there!
What a great song. The video ruined it a bit for me based on intension or rather the undertone/overtone of homosexuality. Aside from that it's a killer song. The faggy shirt on tate just has to go lol. I guess we all make up the meanings to the lyrics of songs for ourselves so i wish i hadn't seen this.
Wow! How I miss the intrinsic lyrics and aura! Chris DeGarmo and Geoff Tate together are second to none and irreplaceable and the vibe and music they create together will forever reign in my heart, my soul and my life till the day they spread my ashes......
I saw them in 1995 for the Empire tour and they played several songs from that album and then took a break and came back and played the entire Operation Mindcrime album from beginning to end. That was the best show I've ever seen!
I certainly got my money's worth that night. You just don't see concerts like that anymore!
This video was finished filming in the Spokane Coliseum Jan./91 and I am in the back of the crowd with my friends. This is still the BEST concert I have ever been too. The tri-ryche logo was designed by my best friends brother in law Wes G. way back in the day. If you cant tell I live in WA state. LOL
@TheBrizz71 ...That is way cool. I wish Queensryche would get back together for 1 reunion tour and thrill us fans just one more time as the original band. Thanks for sharing.
Is anybody listening in the Youtube ilk? Youtube throws rap crap at someone that wishes to listen to rock and roll, and rock and roll at someone that wishes to listen to rap... can Youtube or its handlers please stop trying to persuade people to think other than they already think and allow people to just be people, free to think and choose as they will? I mean seriously folks...
I have been a fan of them for a long time and back in the day my band played this song and I was the lead vocalist. Mr. Tate still kicks the shit out of most vocalist
Wow, I have not heard a "Queensryche" song for a lot of years. I absolutely LOVE their songs, and yes, I had them on cassette tape way back when-in another life time, it seems. I did a "YouTube" search for a few of my favourites, and found quite a few of their songs:-) So thank you, to those who posted the video links. This song in particular is definitely a multi-layered one....having far more than just one, surface meaning-if you know how to read between the lines, that is...
@meetmeinthebackseat3 Me too! :) I saw them in concert for the second time last night, they are so inspirational. Thank god my dad listens to good music, I'm so glad I was raised to such awesome music.
Got my tix to see them in Detroit in August, and I can't wait!! They have been my favorite band for 25 years, there is no beating QR live!! Saw them on the original Mindcrime tour and have been hopelessly in love with Geoff Tate's voice ever since!
I love Queensryche... Empire was this big mainstream album and this song definitely helped bring that on. For the new fans out there... pick up Promised Land.. it doesn't get praised like Mindcrime and Rage (both awesome!) but imho is their BEST album. Enjoy!

@hermygagala Geoff Tate and the other members based part of their sound on Judas Priest....Journey? Are you kidding me? I like Journey but comparing them to Queensryche is like comparing a crawfish to a lobster both good but one way more superior in taste and complexity then the other!
@kellskeltic I know, I completely agree with you. Queensryche are one of my faves and I just started listening to them, which is a big statement. Queensryche is on a whole different level than Journey (much better, by far). I like Journey, but I would never consider them one of my faves. Queensryche is fucking amazing; we are on the same wavelength. However Nazareth is my favorite band of all time and will never leave that position. I am a hardcore fan of Nazareth.
@kellskeltic I respect Queensryche a lot and it is fine if our opinions differ, on a favorite band. However we clearly both like good music. Queensryche are moving up the ranks in my books, as I just started listening to them. I by no means think that Journey influenced Queensryche, as Queensryche are far better. However Geoff Tate does Cite Bruce Dickinson and Rob Halford as influences; (from what I've read anyway). Whether or not that is true, I am not sure.
To some of the comments, I agree that Queensryche's videos behind their music is a bit off. Other than that, this is what music is about. Relating to the lyrics, while enjoying the Bass, maybe a Rythem guitar, a Lead guitarist and don't forget the Drums. Queensryche, you rarely can beat the music they can produce. This coming from someone, who wasn't fond of them at first. Certainly never hated them though.
I love these guys. I have since the 80s when nobody knew who they were. I got to see them a few years back and they played all their old stuff. The only let down was the loss of Chris Degarmo. The new guy couldn't hold a candle to him
@ved76 Like a charity pilot? If so, that isn't so bad. That would be a great thing, other than being a guitarist. At least he wasn't a traitor, was where I was going at. :)
The finite point in which mine wee 'ittle brain was introduced to what I call rock!!!!! If it wasn't for them, I'd never have listened to any other, soon to become, metal!!!!
Geoff's range is amazing and each Queensryche song is something of an elaborate art form; a combination that is growing increasingly rare if not dying entirely.
@AggromanLives I hear ya... Great, intricate Rock tunes are rapidly becoming extinct... Along with the craft of actually being able to lay down serious singing ranges!!! Vocalists like Geoff, Paul Rodgers, Robert Plant, Robert Cray, The Wilson Sisters... Singers with passion in their voices...
@Nicke1beck They are indeed. Just too bad we haven't heard anything from them in the past 19 years. They are one of those bands that has incredible talent and depth to their songs which I guess a lot of people don't understand. And Geoff Tate is amazing. I love a man who can sing, and he definitely hits the mark.
@Jrsarver "haven't heard from them in the past 19 years????" Have you been living in a bubble? Queensrÿche is still around mate. They made a alot of records over the last 19 years. Good ones aswell like Operation Mindcrime part 2.
Better get your info straight before you start informing ppl.
Queensrÿche never broke up.These guys are alive and kicking .
@Aggostino For sure They did American Soldier and before that Operation Mindcrime 2! Def still going strong in fact have seen them literally 8 times in concert. Without a doubt in my mind they are the best band ever
Hey man why are you wearing knee pads, string shirt and a jock? Because I'm Geoff fucking Tate that 's why......

@kellskeltic A fan like yourself, who has known of them for longer, would probably know.

@Lordrage36 What happened to Degarmo? Did he die, or worse?

@drmattisinthehouse Became a professional charter pilot!
ved76 1 year ago
@ved76 Like a charity pilot? If so, that isn't so bad. That would be a great thing, other than being a guitarist. At least he wasn't a traitor, was where I was going at. :)

The finite point in which mine wee 'ittle brain was introduced to what I call rock!!!!! If it wasn't for them, I'd never have listened to any other, soon to become, metal!!!!

Geoff's range is amazing and each Queensryche song is something of an elaborate art form; a combination that is growing increasingly rare if not dying entirely.

phets1969 5 months ago
@AggromanLives I hear ya... Great, intricate Rock tunes are rapidly becoming extinct... Along with the craft of actually being able to lay down serious singing ranges!!! Vocalists like Geoff, Paul Rodgers, Robert Plant, Robert Cray, The Wilson Sisters... Singers with passion in their voices...

Up yours Justin Bieber. Why are you on a Queensryche song?

Fantastic, brilliant combination of a guy that can sing and metal - Queensryche are a rare combination of talents
Nicke1beck 1 year ago 3
