Basic CPR - you have only minutes to save a man after he loses his pulse. I'm surprised that the RCMP is more concerned with killing people/using deadly force than saving me, cause CPR should have been started immediately right after he went under, whether EMS were there or not.

@mahalcat I was trying to keep the doors open. They are motion sensitive doors. He tried to keep them open by putting things in front of them. He obviously didn't try to barricade himself in there because one could get through pretty easily. He put the chairs right in the middle, where the infrared sensor was to try and keep the doors open. I imagine he was going nuts after 10 hours and was feeling claustrophobic.

I'm also pretty sure one of the police men said something like "put your hands up/behind your back". I know a police man who got tasered for testing and he said he lost almost all control of his own limbs so he couldn't walk or use his arms well.

Has the medical examiner been able to prove that the Taser caused his death? Lots of people have heart attacks after getting irate over trivial things. This man was sweating profusely, was overweight and very excited. One of the officers had his full weight on the guys throat. I doubt a battery operated Taser alone caused his death. It was more than likely a combination of factors and extreme physical exertion caused by his irate behavior.

He was obviously scared and disoriented and yes I know how Tasers work because my wife and I both own one as a safer alternative to a firearm. We live in a city with lots of crime and I being a violent crime survivor know how brutal people can be. I can say this truly as i have been that criminal ex. being held in mobile a k-9 units cage with fecies on the floor while there where 5 other cars i could have been put in. Another time i found myself hog teid to the floor of a holding cell after being pepperd through the bars. the point being i was already in custody and there was no reason for this.

Because the RCMP officer granted such permission before he properly entered the scene and assessed the situation, it is clear that the action to use a taser on Dziekansi was premeditated. Therefore the RCMPs involved in this should be charged to the fullest extent of the law; incarceration should be recommended. Anything less should set off alarm bells in the Canadian justice system. The video evidence demonstrates a cold blooded murder. What more is needed?

You cannot witness something like this without asking questions about the training the RCMP are giving their members. We as a community have an obligation to demand extraordinarily standards from people who we give weapons too, and ask to keep the peace. And we have to do it, because they are not going to monitor themselves appropriately. It's just what's so. People in authority and power need to be given a wake up call occasionally. Thanks to Utube and the guy holding the camera, that happened.

Two different things we're talking about:1. I think it's important to communicate outrage at mismanagement of a situation which has caused a dreadful result. 2. Regarding the 3 officers who did not pull the trigger: Anyone who is witness to an unwarranted use of force, (bullying) and does'nt attempt to intervene shares culpability. I respect the RCMP, always have, but there's something going on here that is wrong. The guys are not asked to use common sense apparently. That needs to change.

If you have ever been arrested, your hands restrained behind your back, and bodily forced into the back of cramped squad car, you know how terrifying that experience can be. The terror, helplessness, and indignation, Robert Dziekanski experienced when he died, had to have been magnitudes greater. The use of this weapon, in this situation, was so over the top, so utterly uncalled for, that it cannoy be considered to be anything other than a devise of torture. We must commuicate our horror.

You shouldn't be breaking the law in the first place. Be honest, if you were a cop, would you get a baton that you have to wack the suspect 10000 times in order to subdue them or get a tazer out and just taze it and it takes less than 2 seconds. I've seen many videos where baton's don't work. tazer works great. they would not take it off just because of 6 deaths and 329865239672398623 saved deaths because tazers is an option instead of a gun. Has the medical examiner been able to prove that the Taser caused his death? Lots of people have heart attacks after getting irate over trivial things. This man was sweating profusely, was overweight and very excited. One of the officers had his full weight on the guys throat. I doubt a battery operated Taser alone caused his death. It was more than likely a combination of factors and extreme physical exertion caused by his irate behavior.

the question is; should he have been tasered? the answer is a resounding NO. i'm sure the militarized police training taught the mounties otherwise, just as it has done in many other countries, but it is NOT RIGHT. being tasered TWICE is excessive force. a taser shock puts a person on the ground with almost no problem at all. tasering him after he hits the ground is disgusting. they should have hit the kill switch after the first few seconds. look up how tasers actually work.

I agree with you. I believe the officers should have talked to this guy longer. He was obviously scared and disoriented and yes I know how Tasers work because my wife and I both own one as a safer alternative to a firearm. We live in a city with lots of crime and I being a violent crime survivor know how brutal people can be. I myself would not have used the Taser so quickly if at all and I would have talked to the guy. However if you take Tasers away from the cops there will be more shootings.

an interesting thing to bring up: civilians cannot buy tasers as powerful as the ones law enforcement is given. and even more DEADLY ones (yes, tasers are deadly) are being manufactured. they really are taking all their cues from 1984 it seems. look out the window and you just might see a concentration camp being built or one of the homeland security murder vans.

1.If someone has gun/knife, and IS a threat

2.If someone is attacking you barehanded/ with less threatening weapon
-tazer should be used
3.If someone is NOT attacking, just refused to follow order
-Essensial physical force (not violent, such us hurting vulnerable parts (neck, etc)) would be adequate.
Tazering more than once has potential to kill, depending on someone's age and heart condition.

I have a pacemaker. Because of this, I would not likely survive being struck by a Taser. These are not non-lethal weapons. This man should have been offered a chair, and been smiled to while someone called for an interpreter.

Dont defend the rcmp if ther anything like the OPP then i know its not uncommon for them ot exert there power over the criminals they catch. I can say this truly as i have been that criminal ex. being held in mobile a k-9 units cage with fecies on the floor while there where 5 other cars i could have been put in. Another time i found myself hog teid to the floor of a holding cell after being pepperd through the bars. the point being i was already in custody and there was no reason for this.
