if you`re going to london for the shopping. you`re better off going to the suburbs where they`re far less crowded.

although, i do find that there are more specialist shops in central london. but you might need to stray off the usual shopping route though.

The cheaper ones are usually located on the edges or outside of London. The central ones are expensive and you are better off getting a hotel on the outskirts for the same money. try hostelworld and tripadvisor before choosing a place to stay :)

Such a shame about Borders going; soon to be replaced apparently by an extension of the clothes shop next door (as Oxford Street is clearly short of those!). Apparently, yet again, we can thank greedy landlords for Borders' decision to go. From what I heard they hit them with a huge rent increase which the company weren't prepared to pay. That's why we end up with the 'diversity' of Starbucks, Pret a Manger and MacDonalds.

To any prospective tourists watching this, as a Londoner I really wouldn't recommend visiting Oxford street. It's got heavy traffic, it's always crowded and hence difficult to get about on the packed pavements. Camden market is a much more interesting experience, more varied and less corporate.

You will definitely find it much better, although just as crowded! I would recommend focusing your camera above street level if you go there as the buildings in Camden High Street tend to have some interesting things stuck to their outsides. The people around Camden tend to be less mainstream as well which is another point of interest. Good video by the way, with some interesting points made (and the comment about the pasty shop is so true!)
