I am originally from Punjab and not a sikh per say...but have tremendous amount of respect for my sikh brothers, sisters and elders.
Sikh brothers/sisters also should not forget what punjabi hindus did for them, in my family we never ever ever said anything negative and have respect about sikhism
I am originally from Punjab India, grown up with my sikh friends, it is total shame, any one making fun of Sikhism, I am not Sikh per say, but this religion and sacrifices of the great Gurus are very dear to me.
But sikhs should not forget Punjabi Hindus, treated them like their brothers too, I still respect and love my sikh friends mother and sister more than I do mine.
It is total shame in Punjab now, when we were growing up in 50, 60, 70 never ever we thought we are two.

It was Hindus (with some Muslims) who adopted Sikhism in the Punjab in 15th century. Even today, Jat Sikhs alone comprise in between 50-66% of Sikhs. As I am a Jat, so I know that until recently it was a tradition for Jats to marry their elder son to Sikhs - mainly to increase their population. Sikhs originated from Hindus - with other reasons - to protect the Punjab from invaders. So, the girl in above video sounds very idiotic when she tries to project Sikhs as foreign messiahs for the Hindus.

Secondly, ancestors of Sikhs were Hindus; later more & more Hindus converted to Sikhism to fight Islamic invaders. Also superstitions weren't in Hinduism but in ignorance of Hindus about their religion. And Hinduism was way of life in India & Muslims unsuccessfully tried from 800 AD onward to eliminate it. But Sikhism was in a small patch of India & would have been surely eliminated had Sikhs not fought.

You forget that it was the Marathas that destroyed the Moghul empire, and NOT the Sikhs. It was the Marathas that marched 1600 km to Panipat to face Abdali, while the Sikhs were hiding in the jungles. Sikh Chief Ala Singh invited Abdali to India. The Marathas destroyed moslem power in the north that finally allowed the Sikhs to rise, not the other way around. Respect to Shivaji, Peshwas, Vijaynagar, Rajputs, Surajmal, Hemu for saving our religion.

The fact that Bhagat singh (a sikh) is respected by Majority of hindus is because his contributions are being taught to kids in school.but he is shown in cap not in turban , and he is not shown representing sikhs , he is just another fighter.
So may point is if children are taught in school about sikh contribution than hindus in large will start respecting sikhs, but that is too much to ask form people in power.

Does any body know the fact that the new breed of sikhs in USA and Canada like countries cannot even pronounce the name of their religion. They pronounce the word Sikh as "Seek". They while speaking english call themselves "Seeks". You can also check the latest version of Oxford Dictionary for it.

No friend, this is not because their accent but because they have adopted it. When i asked my some sikhs in UK and USA they told me that they pronounce SIKH as SEEK because latter is the correct version. And finally the pronounciation of SIKH as "SEEK" got place in oxford dictionary.

Insulting a religion is not a difficult job. If others can insult Hindu religion then we can also do the same thing with pleasure. And it will be more difficult for others to listen those insults. So stop insulting each other's religions.
No where it is provided that name of a religion should be mentioned in its holly books. A name can be given to a religion for any suitable reason. By whatever name you call our hindu religion but it is the greatest religion. Sikhism is a religion founded by great saint Baba Nanak & we have our living Guru in Granth sahib ji and our central place of worship is Darbar sahib Amritsar. This is like many other religions such as Christianity, Islam, Budhism, Jainism etc..You could call a crow as cow it wouldn't become that

Every religion has some name for its identification. Such names are given to religions for one or other reasons. In Punjab, hindus have always showed respects to the gurus and when the hindus saw the massacre of sikhs they decide that they will convert their elder sons to become a sikh. And by this way hindus saved the sikh community from extinction. And today if you sikhs try to find your roots many of you will come to know that their ancestors were either hindus or muslims. And whatever you are saying today is the history concocted by your historians and nothing else.

I am originally from Punjab India, grown up with my sikh friends, it is total shame, any one making fun of Sikhism, I am not Sikh per say, but this religion and sacrifices of the great Gurus are very dear to me.
But sikhs should not forget Punjabi Hindus, treated them like their brothers too, I still respect and love my sikh friends mother and sister more than I do mine.
It is total shame in Punjab now, when we were growing up in 50, 60, 70 never ever we thought we are two.

It was Hindus (with some Muslims) who adopted Sikhism in the Punjab in 15th century. Even today, Jat Sikhs alone comprise in between 50-66% of Sikhs. As I am a Jat, so I know that until recently it was a tradition for Jats to marry their elder son to Sikhs - mainly to increase their population. Sikhs originated from Hindus - with other reasons - to protect the Punjab from invaders. So, the girl in above video sounds very idiotic when she tries to project Sikhs as foreign messiahs for the Hindus.

Secondly, ancestors of Sikhs were Hindus; later more & more Hindus converted to Sikhism to fight Islamic invaders. Also superstitions weren't in Hinduism but in ignorance of Hindus about their religion. And Hinduism was way of life in India & Muslims unsuccessfully tried from 800 AD onward to eliminate it. But Sikhism was in a small patch of India & would have been surely eliminated had Sikhs not fought.

I am also of the view that a religion can develop under the umbrella of a culture. And a culture can also develop under the umbrella of a religion.
So if someone says that Hinduism is a culture then there a religion has also developed under this culture for the last many thousand years so you cannot say that we don't have a religion because sometimes a religion and a culture cannot be separated.

You forget that it was the Marathas that destroyed the Moghul empire, and NOT the Sikhs. It was the Marathas that marched 1600 km to Panipat to face Abdali, while the Sikhs were hiding in the jungles. Sikh Chief Ala Singh invited Abdali to India. The Marathas destroyed moslem power in the north that finally allowed the Sikhs to rise, not the other way around. Respect to Shivaji, Peshwas, Vijaynagar, Rajputs, Surajmal, Hemu for saving our religion.

The fact that Bhagat singh (a sikh) is respected by Majority of hindus is because his contributions are being taught to kids in school.but he is shown in cap not in turban , and he is not shown representing sikhs , he is just another fighter.
So may point is if children are taught in school about sikh contribution than hindus in large will start respecting sikhs, but that is too much to ask form people in power.

Does any body know the fact that the new breed of sikhs in USA and Canada like countries cannot even pronounce the name of their religion. They pronounce the word Sikh as "Seek". They while speaking english call themselves "Seeks". You can also check the latest version of Oxford Dictionary for it.

If someone insults our religion, it doesn't mean we should insult their religion too. People are bad, religions aren't. So do not insult any religion please, specially Sikhism. No friend, this is not because their accent but because they have adopted it. When i asked my some sikhs in UK and USA they told me that they pronounce SIKH as SEEK because latter is the correct version. And finally the pronounciation of SIKH as "SEEK" got place in oxford dictionary.

No where it is provided that name of a religion should be mentioned in its holly books. A name can be given to a religion for any suitable reason. By whatever name you call our hindu religion but it is the greatest religion. Every religion has some name for its identification. Such names are given to religions for one or other reasons. Thousands years ago Hindu religion might have some different name & during such long period if our religion was started to be called as Hindu religion then it is no body's business & not a big issue which people of other religions are trying to exaggerate. If a person try to get married outside his community or religion, many people don't like it. Marriage relation is one of the most historical & sacred way of enhancing relations with others who are actually the same people. I want that hindus and sikhs should promote inter-religion marriage to strengthen their centuries old relationship. This trend is increasing but still very slow. In Punjab, hindus have always showed respects to the gurus and when the hindus saw the massacre of sikhs they decide that they will convert their elder sons to become a sikh. And by this way hindus saved the sikh community from extinction. And today if you sikhs try to find your roots many of you will come to know that their ancestors were either hindus or muslims.
