why did you havn't mounted P 90 on this one ? it's the best to replace the crap chineses pick ups or you can mounted US dynasonic pick up. with yours pick up you loose all of the great gretsch sound.
Guitar and p/u mod sounds good. Did you have to drill new holes for the p90s? I'm curious about any install experiences you had. Did you use the existing (or need an additional) p/u spacers? I'm considering a used 5120 and would probably need to use p90s as I'm not a Rockabilly guy.
To be honest I had them installed. But I do not see any new spacers. It looked like they just dropped right in to the existing holes. If you play a lot of Rockabilly, TV Jones may be better for you.
They sound awsome! I just posted another video of me playing the same guitar with a little more drive to it. Look at the video with the Guitar Center backing track. I find myself playing this guitar more than my Les Paul.
They sound great! Not as much twang as you get from a normal Gretsch...but a much more versatile sounding P/U. You can distort it and get a great rock sound or play clean for a nice soft sound. It does both very well. I am playing with light distortion, gives me a soft bluesy sound. I find myself picking up my Gretsch over my LP all the time now!
please tune the fuckers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
