Congratulations to the Aggies, for a much deserved win, but we all know Tech was supposed to win that game. They destroyed K state the same team that destroyed the Aggies, but getting snobby and underestimating opponents is not the way to progress, or advance toward future championships. Never quite understood some Aggies' penchant for history.After we miracle'd them in the Insight Bowl, we didn't get talked up by Minnie for their nice run back in 50's. We don't really get it from OU...most Sooners have the grace to say "good game," or at least make prognostications for next year's game. No one remembers that one, because 1.) Many Aggies tend to quickly forget their own faults, despite being quick to point out the faults of others and 2.) There was no violent incident because Rice's band did not respond to the aggression, instead choosing to sit in the stadium for four hours until the mob dispersed...unlike many of the Aggies in the 2001 incident, who sat and watched the crowd drag the goal posts all the way across the field and still tried to "defend" "their" section.

They weren't trying to hurt the Aggie fans. They were trying to take the goal posts out of the stadium and to the Will Rogers statue as they had done in the past. Tech officials had blocked off the tunnels and that particular section was the easiest way to get to street level, but a brawl ensued when they tried to take the posts through it. I'm not excusing their actions, as those fans had no business being in that area, goal posts or no, but they weren't trying to start a fight.

And no, you wouldn't have heard about the Rice incident. The difference is that most people know that groups of fans sometimes do dumb things, and also know how to let those things go. It's mostly an obscure story bordering on myth now, but it did happen. But my money says that in 30 years Tech students who haven't even been born yet will be painted as classless clowns because an enraged horde of them once beat Aggie women and children to a pulp with a blood-stained goal post.
