    1989 - FRANK SINATRA - MY WAY

    by Frankie S. himself....

  • Folks, stop the non-sense.

If Paul Anka stole a song, than so was Rogers Hammerstein (in One Day when We Were Young),. Elvis Presley (in Its Now or Never), Simon and Garfuken (in Al Condor Pasa), Authur Fielder (in Jealousy), Connie Francis (in When the Boys in Your Arms is the Boy in Your Heart), whilst Marni Nixon stole My Fair Lady from Julie Andrews.

The list can go on and on and on and on.

So, stop behaving like children. If you do not like it, go for Lady Ga Ga.

  • Paul is a true legend. He has been filling venues for 50 years. Watch his performance in London honoring Gorbachev. Truly magnificent!!

  • french people sucks

  • Paul's not at his best here.

  • Please check my performance folks... You won' regret to check it I hope :)

  • Sirs, the music its an universal art. Please, silence and all see the clip, thank you.

  • paul anka does primarily cover songs similar to richard cheese...theyve both made a killing exploiting other peoples songs, however copyright laws were followed...some of their remixes were better than the original

  • This guy is a real fake. He has lived off this song - which is a composition of Claude François.

  • @hommefriday You are a typical frog

  • @andofock racialist remarks like this are what causes problems around the world. Do you have a list of similar obnoxious names for Germans, Irish, Blacks, jews, Arabs and other peoples you cannot communicates with? My comment is based on fact. The song was written by Claude François "Comme d'habitude". I hope YouTube eliminates people who cannot have a human exchange of opinions. By the way I am not European and was born the other side of the world.

  • @hommefriday Your comment is incorrect. There is a difference in "written" and "composed". The song was composed by Claude Francois, Jacques Revaux and Gilles Thibault. Paul Anka wrote a new text in English, called "My Way" for Frank Sinatra. Result: The song "My Way" was written by Paul Anka and composed by Claude Francois.

  • @hommefriday OH my god stop taking it so seriously. France is the most racist country in the world, they hate blacks, Jews and Arabs, and Englishmen, and they hate immigrants, and now we can't poke fun at the French who have in recent history have shown exaggerated heights of cowardice (Vichy)

  • @xpo50 I agree with you regarding the state of France. I can see the problems in Paris and in other cities of France. But you must now this guy (hommefriday) is a bit strange. As you can see, Paul Anka is a Lebanese. He did most of his business life in a Jewish music business. Actually I'm taking it seriously if people change trues into fakes.

  • @andofock Actually Paul Anka is Lebanese-Canadian-American.

His parents were Lebanese, he was born in Canada, and now has dual citizenship I think.

  • @hommefriday if you look into it, you'll find that paul acknowledges that he took the 'rhythm' from the song you state and sat down and wrote the song for frank after frank had said he was thinking about ending touring soon.

  • @hommefriday yes you are right and the frogs are verry good, Claude françois don't like it but it's not a problem. By my frend

  • @hommefriday...... Wrong, Anka wrote this for Sinatra.....No Fake .....

  • Your right. Both of them did it whatever Way the mafia told them to.Why do you think they got away with so many stolen royalties.

  • @hommefriday He did not claim composition of this song. He simply wrote the English adaptation which became a hit. What is wrong with that?

  • @hommefriday

u no nothing of Paul Anka. One of the best singers and writers of all time.

  • @hommefriday Paul Anka bought the rights to publish it. He didn't copy it. By the way, how many songs have you written asshole?

  • @hommefriday Writer: Paul Anka

    Composer: Claude François, Jacques Revaux

  • @hommefriday Estas muy mal, es composicion de El, si no sabes, mejor callate

  • elvis singd this song also

  • never forget seeing him live was AWESOME, his kid anthea has a new blog came across it earlier today pretty cool

    antheaanka. com

  • i love you paul anka i love you . i love you , i love you

  • how did he do it? :O the suspense is killing me lol

  • Para mi hija, un recuerdo de los dos en el festival y la memoria de ser quien fui y soy ahora

  • Hmm not only christians. I know Lebanese Muslims who consider themselves Phoenicians also. "Arab" shouldn't be used for people from countries that were conquered by Arabians. It's like if you call a Mexican "Spaniard", he is Mexican, no matter what language he speaks. Some Lebanese may have Arabic genes but, it's still a minority and still, they are Lebanese.

  • Hey folks take a look in my video singing My way watch?v=0jOBwF8WC0A

    Thanks

  • Vitaly Bianki was a popular writer, a prolific author of books on nature. Biankis first published short story was titled Whose way is better? (1923). Also he was a lesbian.

  • this guy sounds like paul Anka.

  • Claude François was a French pop singer and songwriter. In 1969 he wrote "Comme d'habitude, in collaboration with Jacques Revaux (music) the original version of "My Way." Paul Anka reworked it for the English-speaking, in "My Way" was used only the music of the old version.

  • Paul wrote it, Frank made it a big hit, but the

    Elvis version rules

  • nice work PHOENICIAN666able, but also,Anka is just one letter short of the colloquial term "wanka" aka "wanker", which has no bearing on the performer , but could be used in reference to the guy filming (or his friend, whichever it is ) who is putting the Axe through the song by singing, My experience at a concert is let the performer sing, after all, its what you want to hear !! ( no harm intended)

  • Paul Anka is indeed Lebanese! Anka is in Lebanese YANKA. So wake up people not all people who speak the english language are english. We speak bloody arabic but we are Pure Lebanese from Phoenician backround! (F.B.D. Delta Force UK).

  • A Canadian, of course !!

  • anka is the swedish word for the english word "duck" xD

  • doesnt matter, hes a great entertainer, as along as hes not blowing anyone up, hes cool with me

  • i prefer the english version for what it says

  • il a raison

  • one of the greatest artiest ever he spoke french due to his Lebanese roots ...............

  • Wouldn't he speak Arabic due to his Lebanese roots? He's Canadian, and french is the second language in Canada, so I would say that's why he spoke French, haha. :)

  • Incorrect, most Lebanese people identify as Arabs, only some call themselves Phoenician, and the majority are Christians, yes but that has nothing to do with the language. Since the 15 century Arabic is the make spoken language of Lebanese people. My Christian Arab Lebanese friends speak Arabic. Since he was born and raised in Canada, English would be his first language (I would assume), and his second would be French because it's mandatory to learn it in school here. And that's that! :)

  • I guess we're going to have to agree to disagree because there is such a thing as a Christian Arab whether you like it or not. I mean Paul Anka's full name is Paul Mustapha Abdi Anka (which is Arabic name) and he's from Lebanese and Syrian decent. The main disagreement was that he spoke French due to his Canadian roots, not his Lebanese roots, and it turned into something more. Have a good night. :)

  • in Lebanon french is spoken mainly by Christians not the muslims majority of christian got Cristian names,if Paul was born to a muslim Lebanese family his name wouldve be something like hassan or ahmed,Paul is a very common name in Lebanon like many other christian names, you still confused between language name and your roots ,I'm Lebanese my name is ray i speak french and Arabic but I'm still Lebanese my blood is not Arabic very few Arabs are Christians and they are originally from Arabia

  • Paul anka parents are Lebanese from north Lebanon ,not syrian ,his name is Paul anka not mostapha ............mostapha is a muslim name ,i haven't met any Lebanese christian with a muslim name sometimes they use Arabic name but not a muslim name, and the same applies to the muslims they don't call themselves a christian names ,.............

his family name anka is not arabic at all

its a Lebanese christian old Aramaic name

  • you can see my video its me who sing you search la donna e mobile de salvatore and its the second video thank you

tu peux voir ma video cest moi qui chante vous tapez la donna e mobile de salvatore et c la 2emm video merci

puoi vedere la mia video cerca su youtube la donna e mobile de salvatore e è la seconda video sono io che canto

    grazie mille

  • Paul Anka wrote the song and is one of the best songwriters of all time. Give him the credit due.

  • He just wrote the LYRICS - NOT THE MUSIC. The orgin is a FRENCH love song, he bought the song and wrote a different, new, english lyrics!

Anka schireb nur den TEXT, nicht die Musik. Das Original ist eine franzöische Liebesschnulze, erkaufte das Lied und schrieb einen neuen, anderen, englischen Text!

  • las personas estan equibocadas.esta es una composicion de paul anka

  • Comment removed

  • Hey guys, listen to Michel Sardou singing this...........Claude Francoise did write the original and I still think it sounds better in French! but for sure Sinatra did the best job in English - for me that is

  • Now...this song (melody) is written by Claude Francois and it's called "comme d'habitude". Paul Anka wrote the english lyrics version. Now, the song is called "My way" and whoever sang it, whether sinatra, elvis, etc....sang it definitely Their Way.

  • I know he wrote the song butt i like franjs virsion better

  • dont forget paul anka wrote the song... still frank is frank.

  • Did Frank write any of his songs?

  • Frank wrote lyrics for a couple of songs

  • Sinatra did it better

  • I agree with you, but every other singer did it THEIR WAY. But with no doubt, Frank's interpretation or presentation of the song is much more memorable and wonderful

  • hey monkkeyz8mylunch if you think elvis versus frank made any song his own then you must think the world is flat senior....i saw elvis in person 32 times which means i really liked him, but wow, THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO COMPARISON IN EVERY WAY OF ELVIS SINGING COMPARED TO FAS....SINATRA HAD ELVIS BEAT IN EVERY SINGLE PHASE OF SINGING...FEELING, OCTAVE RANGE, HOLDING OF NOTES, ETC.ETC.

  • I'm with you there. Elvis was a great rock singer, but Frank had him beat in everything.

  • He'd sure shared his wealth and fame with Sinatra...and he did His way handsomely !!

  • Paul was in Vienna live some month ago and I expected an old man on a chair. BUT WHAT A SHOW!!! My mother and me where IN THE OPERA! on our chairs after 10 minutes - he offered a real Las Vegas Show and all his voice.... we sang so much we had no voice anymore afterwards. if yopu can ever see him live- go there!

  • For quite a part, he sang it like the Shirley Bassey's version

  • Written by Paul for Frank Sinatra, and recorded by many artists over the years, the best performances of this song are by Paul Anka himself!

Especially on his first Buddah LP, "Paul Anka", although the lyrics are best suited for Frank, Paul's delivery is still the best.

  • Just a fantastic song!!!5*****Thanks for sharing!!!I hope you'll like me singing Paul's early songs!!!!

  • he did it....

  • He sings it too short... =/ I like Sinatra's better.

  • Dear Andofock: I can't see your video; can you do something? Thanks

  • anka wrote it

    vicious ruined it

sinatra became a hero singing it

robbie williams did a great tribute of it

and they all did it there way

  • dont forget ELVIS

  • their way

  • I disagree with you, sid was, in his way, original:)

  • Yeah give credit where credit is due,Anka did write it.

    Sinatra mastered it.

    Elvis made it his own,

    and Sid Vicious ruined it.

  • i like sinatras version and ankas version...do you have comme habitude version

  • No, sorry, I don't have it.

  • What was the story behind the writing of 'My Way' and was it written specifically for Frank Sinatra?

Paul first heard the French song, Comme D'habitude, in the summer of1967 when he was in Europe. Although it had different lyrics and a muchdifferent feel, Paul instantly connected with the melody. After runninginto Frank Sinatra, in Florida, who mentioned retiring sometime soon,he asked Paul when was he going to write something for him...so Paul, determined to do just that, returned to New York,

  • Paul wrote it especially for Frank. Burt Bacharach wrote the music (who else can write such great music). Almost everyone who thaught he/she meant something in the biz, taped it. Including Paul himself. But who cab blame him?

  • Burt Bacharach did not write the music and Anka only wrote English lyrics to an existing French song by Claude Francois.

  • I apologize, you're absolutely right.

"Comme d'habitude" is the original title.

    Jacques Revaux wrote the music.

How could I be so misinformed? (I am a Bacharach fan, though ;))

  • Claude Francois' version is also here on YouTube. I agree that Bacharach wrote some great songs as well.

  • Burt Bach didnt do the music of MY WAY..... This was an old folk song in Franch that Paul A. heard at a niteclub.....making the lyrics that night...and immediately called Sinatra with the song....singing it over the phonelines from Paris to NewYork....(from Frank's biography)

  • No se puede negar que es un grande de la musica, lo he visto en vivo y tiene una voz y clase increible.

    Gracias por subirlo.

  • Paul ANKA , mon idole depuis toujours ..Rocky

  • Not many folks know that Paul Anka is a writer/pianist and the orginal artist of the song My Way. Frank Sinatra made it popular and later Elvis made it his life song in the end.

  • Dont you think that Claude Francois +two friends deserve the credit who wrote the song and lyrics many, many years ago? (1967 I think it was) Paul Anka is known to take all the credit for that song! Not fair at all!

  • Just for the recordPaul Anka only takes credit for the translation of this classic and tells whoever wants to hear it that the original was written by a frenchman,

  • Well! Ive heard the opposite. "I wrote this song for a very good friend of mine"! Is that correct you think? No hard feelings. Best regards!

  • No hard feelings, of course not,we just watch different tv channels, ha,ha, take care.

  • does anyone has the song called " PAPPA" by Mr Anka ?

  • great song.brings tears every time i hear it.Tom Jones also recorded it.

  • I like your video clip and have rated it as awesome. Please view my clip of some rare 1940's movie star cards, including Frank Sinatra, Humphrey Bogart, Judy Garland, Ingrid Bergman, Frank Sinatra, Gregory Peck, Errol Flynn,

Ronald Regan, Lauren Bacall, Bing Crosby and many more.

  • Awsome! His voice is still the same as when he was so much younger! Thank you for this video!

  • paul anka still the best
