I was in Highschool when Ace and the original Kiss were huge, and Ace wasn't any different. Tommy's just trying to play like Ace, when in reality, he's probably much better than that. In all bands, personel come and go, and Kiss is no different.You can't possibly think that the original members would all still be together 36 years after the fact? I would've never thought the whole band would still be together this long!
It's not who's better at playing the guitar... It's all about the band that creates the music. Ace Frehley belongs in KISS. There simply is no substitute for the 'real thing'. Tommy can't just put on Ace's costume and be his own man... he's an Ace 'copy' and that's all he'll ever be so long as he is in KISS.

The Space Ace did not just happen to be Ace Frehley. The Space Ace IS Ace Frehley. Up until now, no other member of KISS has ever done this except for Eric Singer of course as the Catman Peter Criss. When Eric Carr joined the band way back, they gave him a completely new design and character. When Vinnie Vincent joined, he had his own character. Gene Simmons may own the rights to the characters, but that doesn't make what he's doing right. They are an extension of the individuals.

There's no such thing as the "proper" way to hold a pick, some of the best players in the world hold it a unique or unorthodox way. Check out Marty Friedman. Also, I really don't know what you're talking about him making a bunch of noise, this seems pretty clear to me. Any noise would probably be caused by technical issues like the camera or the setup he's using.
Easy off boys. Tommy's always had a supportive and helpful relationship with Ace Frehley. Tom's been hired to fill a role Ace doesn't want anymore. Thayer does a killer job; looks great in the gear, etc. Great player in this band.
Ace didn't quit because he didn'twant his role(if he didn't why did he make a solo group and make HIMSELF the lead guitarist...)and he quit kiss because after the farewell tour he thought the band ended forever(due to the interview for it) thats why he quit and know theres a alive 35 which kiss needed a new guitarist so they chose tommy....
they put Tommy in way before 35. Tommy has been lead guitarist for KISS for near 7 years now. 7 years in March to be exact. And they called it the Farewell tour because Stanley and Simmons both knew that KISS would continue, but Frehley wouldn't. Ace has always been that little thorn in KISS' side. Ace was washed up all to hell in 81.' Hell he might have been in the band till 82' but by 79' he was already gone. In my opinion they have a better band mate with Tommy Thayer. He wants to be there.
They never called Peter back, besides he's what 60 something now. Ace thought the Farewell Tour was the last, he made some other commitments and couldn't tour. So Gene never called Ace back again. Its probably easier on the payroll to pay Tommy and Eric than 2 origanal members anyway.

Kiss now is a cover band of "KISS". Although I am a huge KISS fan, we can't compare that old KISS to the new KISS. It's still KISS, but different. The band wants to move on and they have the right to do it, you like it or not, they are still KISS. The real reason why Peter and Ace left, we don't know it. We know what Gene and Paul want us to know, but the truth lies beneath Criss and Frehley.
I've said several times that I don't really believe in picking favorites in bands, but I can't help but favor Ace. However, I have to say that Tommy Thayer is better than nothing, and Ace Frehley is better off without KISS, where he won't be spending his life arguing backstage, and having a fake smile onstage. The reason that Ace left was because they were having too many problems with each other. Maybe I'm just sensitive to this because I haven't seen KISS live yet.

last night was my first time seeing KISS. no way to describe seein your heros in person. greatest night of my life. That's true. I guess I really don't blame Tommy. He was after all Gene's gopher for a long time anyway. It's just that the whole thing is really pathetic. I remember seeing KISS on the farewell tour in 2000. It was magical! The four originals one last time in my home town! Paul said he didn't want to make a career out of doing farewell tours and he wanted to go out on top. So what the fuck are they doing now almost 10 years later playing casinos and releasing Sonic Boom exclusively in Walmart?

The Space Ace did not just happen to be Ace Frehley. The Space Ace IS Ace Frehley. Up until now, no other member of KISS has ever done this except for Eric Singer of course as the Catman Peter Criss. When Eric Carr joined the band way back, they gave him a completely new design and character. When Vinnie Vincent joined, he had his own character. Gene Simmons may own the rights to the characters, but that doesn't make what he's doing right. They are an extension of the individuals.

Ace couldn't even do Ace. Ace is WAY overated! That's why Ace isn't in KISS. Love the older stuff but, Ace didn't even play on most of the songs he gets credit for playing. Look it up, he even admits he couldn't do it. I'm glad Gene and Paul found willing and skillful musicians and let Ace and Peter oust themselves out. Peter and Ace still get their check and we still get KISS!

There's no such thing as the "proper" way to hold a pick, some of the best players in the world hold it a unique or unorthodox way. Check out Marty Friedman. Also, I really don't know what you're talking about him making a bunch of noise, this seems pretty clear to me. Any noise would probably be caused by technical issues like the camera or the setup he's using.

Ace didn't quit because he didn'twant his role(if he didn't why did he make a solo group and make HIMSELF the lead guitarist...)and he quit kiss because after the farewell tour he thought the band ended forever(due to the interview for it) thats why he quit and know theres a alive 35 which kiss needed a new guitarist so they chose tommy....

they put Tommy in way before 35. Tommy has been lead guitarist for KISS for near 7 years now. 7 years in March to be exact. And they called it the Farewell tour because Stanley and Simmons both knew that KISS would continue, but Frehley wouldn't. Ace has always been that little thorn in KISS' side. Ace was washed up all to hell in 81.' Hell he might have been in the band till 82' but by 79' he was already gone. In my opinion they have a better band mate with Tommy Thayer. He wants to be there.

They never called Peter back, besides he's what 60 something now. Ace thought the Farewell Tour was the last, he made some other commitments and couldn't tour. So Gene never called Ace back again. Its probably easier on the payroll to pay Tommy and Eric than 2 origanal members anyway.

Kiss now is a cover band of "KISS". Although I am a huge KISS fan, we can't compare that old KISS to the new KISS. It's still KISS, but different. The band wants to move on and they have the right to do it, you like it or not, they are still KISS. The real reason why Peter and Ace left, we don't know it. We know what Gene and Paul want us to know, but the truth lies beneath Criss and Frehley.

I've said several times that I don't really believe in picking favorites in bands, but I can't help but favor Ace. However, I have to say that Tommy Thayer is better than nothing, and Ace Frehley is better off without KISS, where he won't be spending his life arguing backstage, and having a fake smile onstage. The reason that Ace left was because they were having too many problems with each other. Maybe I'm just sensitive to this because I haven't seen KISS live yet.
