  • This game was horrible, I gave it to my nephew and I think he tried to flush it down the toilet. Fitting end to such a garbage game

  • i loved this game, once you get past that outlaw in the woods.....

    good soundtrack too

  • Quest N64 WAS ONE OF THE BEST GAMES EVER! nough said

  • @SighingPlek OK then.

  • its a good game

  • This game sucked ass back in the day

  • This game has unbelievable nostalgia value, and it's still amazingly fun XD

  • Worst? Hell no. I love this game. Still do ^_^. I wish they remade it.

  • In my opinion Quest 64 is a good game on the N64 even for the fact that it's the first RPG. The first time i played this game i thought it looked and played similar game play as The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of time. These game came out the same year as Ocarina of time but i don't know which game came out first. There was also a game fan magazine cover article saying (Better then Zelda? Quest 64 T.H.Q's 64 bit adventure!) I will always remember Quest 64.

  • @mariofan96

You didn't just compare the best Zelda game ever made and one of the best games developed for the n64 to this piece of crap? Except for the fact that the player controls (kind of) a dude and runs throught a more or less open world these games have nothing! in common.

I liked quest64 (or holy magic century, as it's named here) though. nice battle system

  • I fucking loved this game back then. I used the rubberband trick to max out the speed. xDDDDD

  • I don't give a fuck. I nostalged. I'm gonna keep on playing that game, and have my kids play it when I grow up.

  • NEED QUEST 64 SEQUEL! COME ON QUEST WII U!

  • From what I've read, this is a Cult Classic ._.

  • @callumplaysguitar It's really not.

The term "cult classic" gets thrown around everywhere nowadays, when it really should only apply to games that have ACTIVE fans. Sure, there were a lot of people who enjoyed Quest 64- but it's not like we're seeing fanfilms or campaigns to bring the franchise back.

  • It's not that bad a game. I would like to slap those critics who slammed it. They also probably sing praises about WoW. People like that make me want to kick them in the forehead!

  • I was about to buy this but my brother told me not to be a fag.So I got Pokemon.

  • quest 64 is a good game but the main points i dont like in the games you'll get lost every easily and the bosses was too fucking hard and even though you have enough elements and items you'll still lose

  • ps i found the game in a store a few weeks ago "used but working" so i got it :-P

  • i remember the first time as a kid i ever played this game. i knew nothing about RPG's and only had platform games like super Mario to play so i sucked big time at it lmao. now i could probably go threw it like FF7 lol

  • harry potter....on crack!

  • this game was so much fun!!!

  • Oh and BTW when he did his victory jump, he always faced where he was going before the enemy showed up.

  • @Duo44Maxwell I got lost sooo many times, im sure that that's not true..

  • @tomaswolstenholme it always seemed to work that way for me, the only time i got confused about the direction was when i escaped a fight.

  • i cant see how you can rate a game down for recoloring sprites, a lot of good games do that, like the tales series and even final fantasy has done it. Other than that it was an overall decent rating, but i still love this game and have since i was 10. First RPG i ever played and beat.

  • I'll never forget renting this and wondering what the point was. I remember encountering some lady in the beginning of the game and hoping she'd give me the ability to jump just so my weekend wasn't completely destroyed.

  • I played this game when I was like 12 and totally loved it, now, 11 years after, I'm playing it again, and found myself playing 4 - 6 hours straight. Almost finish it in two days.

This game lacks MANY basic elements that makes an RGP great, but it somehow managed to stay as one of my all time favorite games, and I loved Ocarina of Time, as well as Elder Scrolls' Morrowind and Olvibion, as well as Grand Theft Auto games so you can have an idea of how weird is that I love Quest 64...

  • nice review

  • come to think of it now, Final Fantasy mystic quest kinda reminds me of this now

  • I left out the word suck at the end of that last post

  • Dude, this was one best games on the n64 for me as a kid, alongside with super Mario 64, ocorina of time. But I was like 5 or somethin and haven't played it since, so maybe it did, idk

  • ***I just really wish they would of made a sequel to the game, a real one, the atmosphere, music, and just general world and theme are what i loved so much about Q64...

  • the bad part about Q64 is just that there isn't a lot of replay value to it, its one of my favorite n64 games, but its definitely not a game i can play through, beat, and then immediately jump back into for a second play such as mario64 or zelda; once i beat it i usually don't jump back into it again for maybe a good several months to a year or two, I feel if the game just had some actual side quests, and mini games, it could of been more well received.

  • I remember this game, I played this just a few months ago and thought it was a pretty good and addicting game. Thank you very much for making this review. :)

  • i loved this game...

I cried when we first got it cuz i didnt think my brother would let me play

i beat it in 3rd grade or 4th grade.

but have never gone back to it.

had no idea everyone hated it so much.

when you go back over old games you find there not quite as fun as they used to be..

  • @skinnyguinea1234 You said it. I remember having this game when I was like ten years old, and I quickly fell in love with it. Years later, in high school, I looked it up and saw all this hating towards it. Needless to say, I was surprised! I have the game on my mac now, and my opinion on it hasn't changed. I won't deny that there are some things I would have done different, but the overall result for me is that this game is worthwhile.

  • @rootedinjesus Exactly ive loved this game since i was little and i too was surprised it got such bad ratings. People see it nowadays and say its bad but for its time it was awesome.

  • I remember playing this game, despite how shitty it was, all the way from beginning to end just because I was so starved for an N64 RPG. Other than the graphics, man did "Quest 64" suck so much.

  • I always have been a big RPG fan. I was so dissapointed when I got this when it was first released. Such a boring game.

  • To be honest, those sound clips at the transitions and at random points you find funny don't belong here. It's kinda like telling a joke with bad timing,.... it's just not funny. You'd probably be better off being serious.

  • OMG..........I REMEMBER THIS GAME lol i remember trying 2 play this game wen i was a kid and i had no idea how 2 play this game. this didn't make any sense 2 me

  • 1:00 rofl sry bro but you fail, he does exactly the opposite of what you just said. thats a small thing to help the player, he jumps back the way he was facing.

you kinda should have done more studying about the game before you made the review, many things u said were completely wrong. i'm not insulting you, just saying, this is why ppl downgraded because they don't understand how this game can be great. I would LOVE if the game was remade, with some differences made to appeal to ppl.

  • So many memories X3

  • still one of my favorite games for the N64. yeah there was a lot areas that needed improvement, but overall i think it was one of the best games of the era

  • Your transition sounds make no sense, when reviewing the music it would be great to ACTUALLY PLAY SOME MUSIC FROM THE GAME, and if you think every frame looks like it came from a cartoon then the only cartoons you've been watching were made by Video Brinquedo. If this really took a month to create, then you must be factoring in the video capture because this looks like it was slapped together in 15 minutes. Sorry to be so harsh, but this isn't really a good review. Keep trying, you'll get it.

  • Hated that game when i was a kid, i still hate it. I kept the cartridge so i can remember its shittyness

  • ah what a great game and what a great video

  • I actually liked this game as a kid, but I never understood what the hell was going on

  • This was a game I thought of getting but never did. Since I was 13 and never played mainstream games like Final Fantasy, I most likely would've taken a likely to this game.

  • this used to be my favorite game for the system.

  • I still love this game. It's fun and addicting. :D

  • good review, of the few n64 rpg,s i had aldyn chronicles, which was to be honest crap, it did have paper mario, sequel to supermario rpg, i loved both of these games, i never played this game though.

  • Urg, I remember this game.... I hated it when I was 6, and I still hate it now. I came down with a sudden case of stupid last week and decided to replay it, thinking that maybe I'd simply forgotten the good points of this game over time, or that being six years old, I didn't understand some of the finer points of the gameplay and story, but nope. Still shitty.

  • @GameSpazzer feel the same way, worst way to spend 60 dlls back in the day

  • BRIAN!!!

  • i remember renting this game from blockbuster when i was 5 too! lol but then i had no idea how to play this game lol

  • Had an N64 when I was 4. Played this game till my eyes got sore.

    GREATEST RPG FOR YOUNG CHILDREN!

  • It's amazing how much of this game I remember! I really loved this game as a kid, even though I could never beat it because I always got lost in a certain forest. If I still had my N64 (my parents threw it away one Christmas because they were convinced it was broken beyond repair, but we later found out it just needed a new adaptor cable) I would try and beat it now.

  • Actualy, i found a way to point the character in the exact direction that they where once heading at- which prevents from getting lost as easily.

Just hold down B, it seems to always make the character jump in the exact direction that he was heading before the battle started. Sure glad they added that, because navigation would have been very hard otherwise.

Either way, i loved this game back then- and i like it now. Not love, but like.

  • Hey, you need to equalize your audio clips with your voice overs so they aren't so much louder.. its annoying.. good review though.

  • I think you gave it a fair review. Personally, I liked the game as a kid, but my teacher for 4th through 6th grade was a huge FF nut who even installed SNES emulators on the class computers, allowing me to experience the greatness that was the old FF series. While this game still holds its charm to me, it pales in comparison to later RPGs released within its generation, such as Ogre Battle and Paper Mario. Thanks for not bashing the game into a bloody mess like many others have.

  • n64 RPGs: There aren't many, but they are all great :)

  • in my childhood I had this game, and say something .. I really like =)

  • I like it, Im playing it as I'm typing this. I'm in the icy realm,

  • I was quite young when I played this game and I loved it. If it was meant for a younger audience then I'd say it did its job.

  • incredible with many available strategies and effects. The game wasn't some Lufia or FF from the SNES but it certainly was not a crappy or mediocre game. Look at what were its contemporaries. This game was very extensive and enjoyable among the games that were released up to that point.

  • Firstly, when you win a battle you are redirected to the direction you were facing when you got into the battle- always. It's when you run that you simply remain facing the direction you're looking when you leave the battle. This game isn't as bad as people make it out to be either. It does have a terrible encounter rate and a bare bones plot (but how did you get "alien" from puppet?) but the game had very good graphics and was a fun adventure exploration game. The spell diversity was

  • lol i guess it looks like i trolled unintentionally

lmfao ijs.. its funny that you review a game only people over 20 really can relate to lol

  • why the hell do younger players have a funner time finding items instead of buying them!? that just makes the game MORE difficult.

  • That "random direction" that he jumps in is simply the direction he was facing before the battle begun, unless you fled the scene.

  • Ok, cut out the sound effects like "Oh boy! I'm so hungry, I can eat an octo-rock!"

That really is, ear rapingly annoying. Otherwise, keep making videos and you'll naturally get better with your oratory skills. Its a fair review over all though.

  • Why are there so many dislikes when this was a fair review?

  • i never got this game as a kid. but i still loved it

  • While I agree about the story and the lack of items, I found that the battle system was very good. I liked the movement system as well as the spell system. I also must comment on the graphics. It is easy to scoff at them now, but when they came out it was beautiful. It seems to me that if they would take the basic combat system and add story, items, and a bulding map, they could make the game fantastic.

  • Not a bad review. Personally i njoyed Quest 64 (once i learned how to play) but i stopped as soon as i found out that i was stuck half-way through a cave with no way of finding out which way would lead me further into the game rather than lead me to the entrance.

  • I actually had fun playing the game though I must say all of your points are very valid.

I do wish they had continued it I believe that it was highly original in the way you used the Elements =)

  • A wii remake would be sweet, and amke it co-op guntlet style that would be sweet

  • @Ashnar That's quite the statement. In spite of what you may think, classic games are very relevant. Thanks to e-commerce sites like eBay and Amazon, buying "old" games is no more difficult than buying modern games. This review is not late, it is simply a review of a classic game.

  • @natlinxz

I don't usually login to youtube much, but I was viewing this video I read this and had to login to post.

    Ashnar got owned.

  • @natlinxz You do not have to use Ebay or Amazon, use Project 64, and if you like it, play it, if you don't, then don't play it and hate it and forget it and everyone is happpy.

  • @Ashnar You're a FAIL for calling classic old school

game (who are USUALLY better) reviews a FAIL.

  • @Ashnar Looks like he beat you to the review by 12 years, then.

  • @Ashnar are you kidding me? lol think before you post. thats all i say.

  • @Ashnar go fuck you, people can make reviews about everything and anytime

  • @Ashnar fuck you, people can make their reviews anytime about everything

  • @Ashnar oh tell us holy reviewer of games.....when is it officially too late to review a game? Whats the cutoff? Are people not allowed to play a game once its more than a year old?

  • @Ashnar You are an idiot.

  • @Ashnar id think they had youtube in 1998 -_-

  • i personally love this game nothing bad about it but thats my opinion

  • I loved this game as a kid, and I replayed it recently and it's still as great as ever. I guess it's because of the colorful graphics, great atmosphere, and world exploration, that I can forgive an incoherent story. Oh, not to mention the unique battle system. This game wouldn't have such a bad reputation if expectations hadn't been so high at the time. I'm really sad that they never finished the improved version, I would have liked to have seen that...

  • i had this when i was like 8 .... it was gay

  • dude I played this game when I was 8 and I HATED it.

  • I used to rent this game all the time when I was like 6 and I loved it. I never really knew what i was supposed to be doing but I just liked the feel of the game, the colors and the music. Damn, I miss the 90's

  • when i first played this game i upgrade most of the elements except the water one...i hate blue w/ a passion

  • Like many others have said here on the comments, I played this too when I was 5-6 years old and that time it was fantastic, such charming, I don't remember it as bad at all, just charming and fantastic!

  • @sebbef Believe me, I LOVED this game as a kid. I even considered it on par with Zelda OOT! The problem is that there are no bad games when you're a kid, every game you play is awesome (unless it's REALLY bad). When I went back to play Quest 64 years later, I was really disappointed to find that it wasn't a good game after all. But everyone is entitled to their opinion, and you're certainly not wrong if you say it's a good game.

  • @natlinxz I can agree. I just downloaded this game for my computer (of course it was legal lol) because I played it whe I was young. NOW, it's just ok...keep in mind I will beat it though. But the greatest example is, I played Star Wars: Shadow of the Empire when I was younger, and I LOVED it. I bought it from a pawn shop not too long ago, and there areso many things wrong with that game. Lol, to be young and iggnorant.

  • @natlinxz i bet if you got stoned and played it, it would be just as amazing to you as it was when you were a kid ;)

  • worst rpg ever? bullcrap, this game is awesome. and it doesnt jump in a random direction, it DOES point you in the direction you were going. and when you level up it gives you a spirit.

  • really??? "often regarded as one of the worst rpgs ever made"? did you just make that up? theres TONS of worse rpgs

  • Why give credit to someone just for making a game? It doesn't matter if it was the first RPG on the 64, they dont deserve creditfor making a bad or mediocre game.

  • Man, you sound JUST like Navgtr. uuugh

  • all true. i played this when i was 6-8 and i loved it!!

  • the third game you mentioned is almost entirely a Mr. Do clone, just for the info.

  • that dude's walk is hilarious

  • Heh...2:50, "Helping people oot."

  • he does not jump randomly he walks the way you ere walking when the encounter started

  • hell me and my brother liked that game.lol

  • I never finished this game. The enemies were too powerful too early and It took WAY too long to get to one place to another. This got really troublesome when I was low on health. This made most of the game for me a run for my life.

  • This game looks awesome! I remember my brother playing it, and it seemed cool. It's probaly because I LOVE any RPG game

  • Nice review, you've really improved since the first reviews alot

  • Hey long time no see (or type).

Great review, this looks like it would be fun to play occaisionally, or at least at the time when it came out. People probably like it less nowadays because they compare it to RPGs like Elder Scrolls, Dragon Age, etc.

  • I'm pretty sure you reviewed this already. Awesome video none the less (<= idk if that was the correct way of saying that lol.)

  • @ZeroStrikr Thanks! Yes, I reviewed this game already. Looking back though, I wasn't very satisfied with the result. It was an unscripted review (I basically improvised), so I wanted to remake this review properly.

  • Nice Review, Keep em coming :) I always wanted to play quest 64 but wasnt sure. I think ill pick it up now actually, it doesnt seem half bad.
