Remember that the French Revolution was the first to consider gay rights (1789).

Even if it could actually be proven that a child does better in a household with a mother and a father the right answer would not be to prohibit same sex marriage, it would be to prohibit same sex couples from having children.
Its been proven over & over again in some of the biggest studies ever done over the last 20 years. These problems not only affect children of same sex couples, but of single parents too. Why should we intentionally raise kids at a disadvantage? My wifes mom died young leaving young children at home. Her dad remarried. What reason do we have not to expand the legal definition of marriage? I can understand where people are coming from (I don't agree) when they say having both a mother figure and a father figure is important and gay couples can not meet those criteria, but that is an issue seperate from marriage.

Definitions do change all the time, but not the definitions of words like marriage. Take red for example. It's a color, but many years ago it also came to mean operating a business or budget at a loss. "They are operating in the Red." Also new words are created all the time. What's your source for the 86% quote? ELLE did a non-scientific poll where 64% were for gay marriage. But the TNS-Sofres survey put it at 45% FOR & 51% AGAINST same sex marriage & only 35% were FOR gay adoption.

Hey why don't you try watching the video and listening to it? The video presented the findings of research done by the French Parliament two years ago. It didn't say what their laws are now. Yes France has civil unions, but it is blind to the parties involved. Meaning that it is not in place to accomodate homosexuals. Siblings can enter these pacts, as can foreigners. It is basically a contract with the benefits of marriage but without the commitment.
Oh I already did. The research wasnt conducted by the French Parliament for starters. It was conducted by the president of the French National Assembly. Second of all, since when civil unions are exclusively for homosexuals? In CA straight people can enter into civil unions as well.

There are many people who were born gay who later in life developed opposite-sex attraction. Not that they became bisexual, but they are no longer attracted to sexually to the same gender.

As religion, mariage is "out" in France, where the majority of children born outside mariage. For legal reasons (taxes, heritage, etc) you'd better get married, but that was consider unfair. From the late 1990's, you can have a "PACS" (kind of mariage, but without the decorum). Largely use by heretosexual, it can also be use by gays. Remember that the French Revolution was the first to consider gay rights (1789).

K10star doesn't seem to realize the implications of his interpretation of France's decision. Per his interpretation, heterosexual couples who plan to have children are just as "bad" as any gay couples or single parents. From what he has stated in his video, it seems France was more committed towards supporting children whose conception was unexpected. Theres a difference between the age appropriate teaching of kids about sex & homosexual indoctrination. My happy kids learned about sexuality at an appropriate age! They know which friends & family are homosexuals & heterosexuals. They recognize that we don't treat any of them differently.
The key is indoctrination. Many studies have found that children of same-sex couples are significantly more likely to become homosexuals than kids raised by heterosexual couples. Its a learned behavior.

Out of all my personal queer and lesbian friends/family only a few say they really feel they were born that way. Many studies have shown that being gay appears to be the result of ones social environment and upbringing. Studies also show that children raised by gay parents are far more likely to choose a gay lifestyle. Some say up to 7 times more likely.

Adoption has been legal for gays and lesbians in CA since the 80's and whether marriage is legal for gay couples will not change that. However, shouldn't the gay couples that do adopt have the benefits and protection that only marriage can provide?
And for everyone's information, because you're Christian does not mean you are against homosexuality. Prop 8 actually took away the freedom for many churches to legally marry their gay and lesbian congregants.

Even if it could actually be proven that a child does better in a household with a mother and a father the right answer would not be to prohibit same sex marriage, it would be to prohibit same sex couples from having children.

Its been proven over & over again in some of the biggest studies ever done over the last 20 years. These problems not only affect children of same sex couples, but of single parents too. Why should we intentionally raise kids at a disadvantage? My wifes mom died young leaving young children at home. Her dad remarried. I know that it's not always easy, but I feel parents should put their kids before their own personal desires. Ive been married 27 years. When we have problems we work them out.

What reason do we have not to expand the legal definition of marriage? I can understand where people are coming from (I don't agree) when they say having both a mother figure and a father figure is important and gay couples can not meet those criteria, but that is an issue seperate from marriage.

But definitions do grow and change, English is a living language. There are actually respected dictionaries today that cal safe sex marriage valid. I'm not sure about the word gay, I thought the sexual connotation was fairly new, but I'm not sure. Definitions definitely do expand and change in any living language though.
I can't speak for all gay people based on my experience, that would be an overgeneralisation. The gay people I know only want to have the same rights as every other person.

Definitions do change all the time, but not the definitions of words like marriage. Take red for example. It's a color, but many years ago it also came to mean operating a business or budget at a loss. "They are operating in the Red." Also new words are created all the time. For example, not many years ago prioritize didn't exist. But instead of saying "put the list in priority order, someone coined the word prioritize. I agree most gay people only want to have the same rights. But they are blindly following the activists that want much more.
I bet your gay friends are NOT the ones who vandalized, slashed, spray painted and stole my Yes on 8 signs or parked their van in front of Prop 8 donors homes painted "A Bigot lives here."
Between Prop 8 and Prop 22 I had about 100 signs stolen or vandalized but nobody touched my neighbors No on 8 signs. (Note: I only had 2 Yes on 8 signs in my yard at a time.)

I don't think there is a concrete definition of marriage, but it still essentially is discrimination to say that everybody needs to adhere to a definition that only defines heterosexual couples as being able to marry. By definition a homosexual is a person who is exclusively attracted on a sexual and romantic level to people of their own gender, saying they only have the right to marry people of the opposite gender is almost like saying they are not allowed to be gay.

Actually, it is my objective and independent opinion that not allowing homosexuals to marry is discrimination. Marriage is something you can observe in many different cultures and there is a lot of variation between cultures regarding its definition and purpose. The only thing marriage has in common between cultures is that it bonds people together.

Nothing can prevent anyone from being gay - gay people seem to be the ONLY ones that understand this basic fact. However, it sends a heinous message to people who think it acceptable to bash gays. Legally defining marriage as a union between 1 man & 1 woman is NOT tantamount to declaring open season on gays but asking voters to restore the definition does seem to make it open season for gays to vandalize my property, violate my rights and call me a bigot. Actually, France recognises Civil Unions. And as from July 2008, it recognised gay marriages that are performed abroad. For example - if you get married in, say, the Netherlands or Sweden, the French government is now obligated to recognise your marriage. Also, 68% of France agrees with same-sex marriage. It is only church conservatives (as usual) holding back progress, but - as I have shown - time is running out. Freedom is coming. Europe is not America.

What's your source for the 86% quote? ELLE did a non-scientific poll where 64% were for gay marriage. But the TNS-Sofres survey put it at 45% FOR & 51% AGAINST same sex marriage & only 35% were FOR gay adoption.

They enjoy "Dating" but are NOT sexually active.

CA Civil Unions provide the same benefits as same-sex marriage. If 8 had failed gays would still NOT be eligible for federal benefits or benefits in other states.

That's not true and there are valid studies to prove it. One APA study showed kids raised by lesbians were nearly 24% more likely to try a homosexual relationship than those raised by heterosexual parents.
Most studies are not that drastic, but schools are noting that peer pressure is also a strong influence and right now being gay is becoming very popular.
At age 5 kids don't need to learn about homosexuality and bisexuality but that's part of the gay agenda, and it's ALREADY happening!

Hey why don't you try watching the video and listening to it? The video presented the findings of research done by the French Parliament two years ago. It didn't say what their laws are now. Yes France has civil unions, but it is blind to the parties involved. Meaning that it is not in place to accomodate homosexuals. Siblings can enter these pacts, as can foreigners. It is basically a contract with the benefits of marriage but without the commitment.

Neither is their civil union, which is actually a PAC (Pacte Civil de Solidarité) & they have been legal since 1998.
You are also blowing this "Recently Challenged" gay adoption law out of proportion too.
It was the European Court of Human Rights that overruled Frances court. Now gay INDIVIDUALS can petition to adopt, but gay couples still can't!

As humans we are blessed with the ability to learn from others experiences. I dont have to be queer or lesbian to learn about the gay lifestyle.
There are many people who were born gay who later in life developed opposite-sex attraction. Not that they became bisexual, but they are no longer attracted to sexually to the same gender.
Many have written books about their life, and even provide professional or volunteer counseling to those who are confused about their sexual attractions.

because they r not sure. i bet they would like to choose. i read a comment on another prop8 vid (a little unreliable yeah but ill take chances) who said his parents were gay, but would choose to be straight if they had a choice.

Marriage doesn't give that to ANY couple. Only to a couple that meets the conditions for marriage. Sexual preference is not one of those conditions and never has been. Therefore gay people are not denied those protections.

Believeit1051, Id suggest you do some research about marriage and the social status of it. Not only civil unions make people second class citizens, they dont offer the protection of marriage in any level.
Sexual preference was never a condition to get married, as you stated. Therefore, gay people should be allowed to get married to the person they love, as you stated as well.

In certain US states, Gays only get the state federal benefits when getting married, while heterosexual marriages get the 1000+ federal benefits.

Thats NOT true! Same-sex "Marriage" is NOT recognized by FEDERAL LAW!
NOT ONE state or federal benefit was lost to gay "married" couples when prop 8 passed regardless where they live.
Get the facts: I suggest you read the last issue of "California Lawyer" it spells it all out.
This whole battle was over the USE of the word Marriage to describe both Heterosexual and Homosexual unions.
Gay activists only HOPE that calling it marriage will lead to additional benefits in the future.

Just read about what's already happened where same-sex marriage is allowed. People are FORCED to do jobs they are morally opposed to or be sued. Kids are being indoctrinated at young ages and parents can't prevent it. Churches are being forced to change their policy or end up in court. People are losing their jobs because of their beliefs. People are losing their jobs for TELLING people about research findings that go against the gay agenda! I have gay friends/relatives, I'm not afraid of them.

Yes, thats true. But theres a limit to what your religion can do. For example, if your religion kills people, you cant do that. So theres a limit.
Because if you are unable to perform the work you provide and discriminate and go against the law, then you are in the wrong biz. You cant discriminate on race, nat origin, etc etc... You just want to justify your homophobia on religion and sorry, that wont happen.

He and 34 others publish scientific research documenting risks of homosexuality. Homosexual advocates complain & he is fired! You think he needs to go back to school and learn a new career? What does stoning people have to do with a person being fired because he donated money to a cause he believed in? Especially since stoning someone is illegal in our society but donating to a political campaign is perfectly legal.

Marriage predates your biased article. The first marriage was actually a Sacred Covenant between God, Adam & Eve. That true order of Marriage has NOT changed, but throughout recorded history there have been people who disobeyed Gods marriage covenants. Even after Christ came, the earth fell into the Dark Ages and Gods laws were totally ignored and marriage was grossly perverted. Regardless, of these twists in God's laws, with few exceptions its always been between opposite sexes.

The only thing thats irrational about this made-up word is its etymology. The word makes absolutely no sense etymologically.
The Greek homo means the same, so literally homophobia means a fear of things that are the same.
So we have a medical sounding word describing heterosexuals as mentally abnormal invented within months of the APA declaring homosexual behavior as mentally normal.
And gay's want us to believe that activists had no hand in the APA changing their tune!!!

Try the last issue of "California Lawyer". There was a great article explaining in legal terms what changes would happen if prop 8 passed or failed. It was written to explain many of the changes regarding family law, tax law etc. that attorneys needed to be aware of. There is actually a 3 part YouTube video by a lawyer & former law professor thats as dry as can be, but he explains it quite well. ProtectMarriageNow is his user name try searching YouTube "Introduction to Same-sex Marriage Law."
