Is their much difference in SOUND between the "High Energy" 268 and between the "Xtreme Energy 268H? I've thought about rebuilding my 289 with this cam or the XE284H.

i've equipped my 67 fairlane 289 with the same cam!! " love it" ported heads w 351 valves wieand dualplane & 600 holley C4 , 4:11 with 10.5x28" m/t ...launches hard and smokes ricers!!!!

This should be a torquey motor right off the line. The 268 is the upper limit of the mild cams. Anything with longer duration, lift and Less LSA would be much to radical and you'd lose port velocity due to overlap of valve timing events.
