Its funny that you said that you Can't unlock the cpu. Actually you can, A Dualcore CPU is basicly a FAILED Quad Core cpu, AMD just turns off the other cores becasue it is considered unstable, ASUS Figured this out, they made the ASUS Core unlocker, You can actually go in and unlock the other two cores. But the downside is that the cores are unstable, therefore it can make your whole system unstable, so you may have to do a little tweaking and ALOT of stress testing to make sure it'll be ok :)

i went with a gigabyte 880gm-ud2h board. Even tho at that time it was kinda mid level. It seems like a perfect budget build for my first pc. Glad to see someone learning the hardware on computers at a young age. I'm finally doing my first build at 17 cause i'm buying it piece by piece with my own money lol. But i liked the layout for the 880gm, and i wont be doing any crossfire any time soon. But im doing this setup: phenom 965 x4, 4gb vengance ram, amd 6870, same case, and 1tb hdd.

Its actually in reality a bad idea to pick your motherboard up by the CPU. You could losen the thermal paste, and affect its cooling performance.

Nice nice not to bad, please tell me you got a better video card. Okay i'm just partial to NVIDIA, harware comparsions aside, because there comparible in diffrent aspects obviously. But drivers, honestly before AMD got there hands on ATI there drivers were abysmal, I know there a lot better but I still think at least driver wise NVIDIA does a good good but again it's a gamer prefrence at this point. Nice stuff, should grab a black edition if your looking to upgrade and maybe an overclocking mb.

Maybe it would be a good idea to go for a phenom ii x4 955 BE 3.2GHz and a Radeon HD 5770, maybe two of them. Also 4GB DRR3 RAM. Were you on a budget or was it because this is a year ago?

dude thats a bit bottlenecked, the phenom 2 is good but your video card kinda bottlenecks it. You should have went with 2 hd5770's or a gtx460

AMD Phenom II x4 965 Black Edition, Radeon HD 5770, 4 GB DDR3 RAM, Corsair H70 Water Cooler, ASUS M4A89GTD PRO/USB3 AM3 AMD 890GX HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard, Windows 7 Home Premium. That's about all i have so far, not sure how big the case should be, i'm thinking about getting a ssd along with the hdd just for the os alone. Anyone, Please give feedback!
