I know full well that he has said he doesn't relate to it anymore, but it's lyrics, written by Johnny Rotten, were about attacking the established system in the UK (subsequently changed to USA), nothing to do with religion. The reasons he gives for not wanting to play it, imo, don't make sense for those reasons.
