Check out Attack in Black's cd "Marriage" (from Ontario) and Ladyhawk's (not ladyhawke) cd "Shots" (from Vancouver). Those 2 definately have that Canadian Indie feel to them. Also you can check out The Gaslight Anthem (from New Jersey) they have heavy Springsteen influences. Hope that helps.
You're looking for Loomer...Scott Loomer...Songs of the Wild West Island. The most underrated and virtually unknown talent in music today. Don't have a clue what's happened to him. Matt's great...Loomer's better.
@nielyoungisgod im 16 and snuck into a bar in the chi to see him play and i got to met him before he played , best concert ive ever seen other than neil young when i was 12
This is much better than the album version. I don't really like the album version that much. I'm I the only one who thinks building a boat is one of the best songs he's written? Don't understand why tall trees was the single
Matt Good doesn't compare to Matt Mays. I think this music is an example of what every good musician could become if they stay honest and work hard. Just like Neil Young! The best of all time. But Matt Mays is right up there, not just as a "Canadian" songwriter (whatever that is).
I would give my left nut to have Matt's talent. I have all of his albums, amazing music, listen to his tunes daily, and I recommend everyone else as well!!
I used to think that about matt good until one day at work a co-worker told me about how his brother was dying from cancer and matt good took him out for a day...
We dont know these guys at all.
Some people we think are the best are the biggest losers and some are the greatest people ever. It is never fair to judge anyone until you meet them
Matt is so good live as you can see. If anyone has a chance to see him and the band play, DO IT. Saw him in RedDeer few years back and it was incredible. Actually ran into him longboarding before his show and he is a down to earth guy with zero arrogance like some musicians may have. Good ol' Canadian boy, That's all.

the only thing better on the album version is the very start. Its pretty original and sounds awesome

building a boat live is the best, completly overproduced with the annoying synth beeping on the album.
I think he made a poor choice for producers on this album.
