  • People blame Gorham for introducing 'smack' to Phil around the time of their mega album Black Rose.

  • @renegadeexpress1983

Yeah, but Phil would have ended up doing it anyhow. Heroin use amongst musicians exploded around 78/79. There were lots of heroin users in music at that time, and Phil was taking everything else. Considering the people he hung out with it would have happened eventually.

  • hahahaha Scott playin acoustic XD

  • robbo is like a vampire haha!

  • That's right I do know them personally, I roadied for Grand Slam for 18 months and later for Brian Downey in Talk to Strangers etc etc; go fuck yourself you useless lump of shit. None of them talk to Jim Fitz only Phyllis !! They were always on different sides of Philip's friend set up. See fool , I am one of the few who does really know his shit!

  • and phils friend set up really helped him when he needed it???? at least jim made an effort, jaysus even gary moore tried to talk sense to phil! and he only cares bout himself hehe

  • Whether or not you were a roadie for Grand Slam 25 years ago is irrelevant. I doubt very seriously that you would have any inside information regarding the band or it's former members. I'll take the word of Jim Fizpatrick over some dumb douche on youtube. Not only did you misunderstand my comment, which resulted in your getting upset, but even after I explained to you that I never claimed that Robbo is bitter you've still got a bug up your ass.

  • Btw, the next time you hope to respond to someone try using the reply button. The only reason I even saw your idiotic reply is because I clicked on the video to watch it again. Otherwise I would have put you in your place as a moron a month ago. I can read the songwriting credits on the back of a Thin Lizzy album and see that the band isn't being credited (and paid)properly. Regardless of whatever inside information you claim to have just because you were a roadie bitch 25 years ago.

  • Lizzy are without doubt one of the greatest rock bands ever. Each individual brought so much more to the band than they were trully credited for. Its sad that those who contributed were'nt given the same share of the royalties as the others. The truth is were all robbed.

Lizzy who should of been a super group,

and the true royalties credited to each member.

    Phil of his life.

And us as fans, that there is no more new Thin Lizzy songs, or performances.

  • Robbo is really pissed off because it was HIS fault that Lizzy didn't become a huge huge act. It was Robbo's fault a couple of big American tours fell apart. If he'd have kept it together who kows what could have happened. Lynott/Gorham/Robertson/Downey surely had the ultimate LP inside them post Live & Dangerous.

  • Phil got hepititus, that wasn't Robbo's fault at all. They were still able to tour the states after the Robbo incident when Gary Moore filled in. Besides, truth be told, as far as the music is concerned, Robbo did most of the writing.

  • Phil got ill on the Jailbreak tour. Robbo was at fault for a later American tour and breaking up that version of Thin Lizzy. As for Robbo who "did most of the writing", hardly. It's an insult to Lynott's talent adn memory. Robbo may have come up with riffs and licks but Lynott was the leader, he saw the bigger picture, he was the craftsman. You may have read that Robbo mis-information somewhere . Lynott was the writer, obviously. Truth be told.

  • Lynott was only one part of the writing process in Thin Lizzy. Thin Lizzy were a band not the Phil Lynott show. Yes, Phil wrote most if not all of the lyrics but neither Phil nor Scott knew music theory. It had to be Brian or an outside source (music producer etc) who contributed any ideas rooted in music theory to the band. Phil leaned on Robbo, Gary Moore and Darren Wharton bc they knew theory and they could arrange using theory. I'm a music producer, these things are obvious.Truth be told.

  • Not knowing music theory never stoped anyone from creating rock songs. Lizzy were not the Mahavishu Orchestra. Sure Lynott bounced ideas of all Lizzy members, of course he leaned on all lizzy members. Just like most musicians bouch and work off other musicians they work with. I know, Im one myself. But arranging a song is not the same as writing one, Truth be told.

  • As for Robbo writing hits.Great music doesn't touch the surface unless it has commercial viability.Spice Girls had countless hits; doesn't mean the shit they had put out demonstrated great musicianship. They can't fuckin' play a note or sing a note in tune.Quality music means nothing these days unfortunately. It's real shame. If I built a house from scratch & someone put some windows in it but was praised for the entire build, I would be fuckin' pissed off, wouldn't you? I rest my case.

  • very true. One lick does not make a song. It's a real pity some people actually want to believe that robbo was some kind of later day genius. He was not. A good guitar player yes, a heavy boozer yes, a clever song writer? never.

  • I think you've misconstrued what I was implying about the house. It was a metaphor. I use to talk to Robbo back in the day. I know that the others and himself who'd contributed alot to the melody of the songs we love today, hardly got any credit. The inception of a song usually came from Phil, but the finish product we love was a collective input from all members but yet one person is merrited. Four people build a house together yet one is praised. See my point? Lizzy demise was fate. :-(

  • Maybe, but Robbo has been making noise about this only since Phil died and Phil's not around to give his side. Sure he contributed and he has some credits, but did ever come in with a full song? Silver Dollar? Wasn't that actually written by Lynott, as well as Ballad of a Hard Man, because he wanted both Robbo & Scott to have a writing cred??? It can be extrapolated for anybands songs in some form I guess.

  • Whether he came up with a whole song or not is irrelevant. If he extrapolated Phil's basic idea's, and I suspect very strongly that he did, then he deserves writing credit and royalties. I think you can safely infer that any Thin Lizzy song circa 74-78 that incorporates theory, even in its most basic form, is a Thin Lizzy song co-written by Brian Robertson. That would include the Boys Are Back In Town. Arranging is a critical part of the writing process. Truth be told lol...: ) Robbo Rules.

  • If Robbo had such good ideas then where are his solo cd's with all of these hits he can write?

He's a bitter Scottish drunk who would have got some limelight with Motorhead but he insisted wearing girls clothes. I love his playing but hate the way he talks about Phil.

  • What him being Scottish got anything do to with being bitter? Why highhtlight his racial background & just say he is bitter instead.Him being a drunk, I don't think you can say this unless you are someone who doesn't drink.R u a Muslim?. It comes across as hypocrisy. He did come up w/many Lizzy's signature riffs &like the other members, didn't get credited. As for Robbo, I have hang out with him back in the day, and boy is he down to earth! Most musicians are up their arses! Best Lizzy era 74-78.

  • If Robbo is bitter, he certainly would have reason to be as Phil's douchebag widow (who didn't help him with his heroin addiction) is spending royalty money for songs Brian Robertson largely wrote. The Boys Are Back In Town has a hook chord progression (ie the chord changes) which were likely written by Brian, as was the harmony guitar part. Brian was screwed by Phil and Chris O'Donnell....Jim Fitzpatrick is right for saying Thin Lizzy Ltd. should pay the man.

  • You are taling out of your ass about Caroline and Robbo's royalties! Philip bought the publishing rights and his 'widow' got them handed to her. Yes she is a bitch but Robbo is not bitter about that, he is bitter because Scott went on with the name and made money off it! Get your facts straight.

  • Oh, and I'm sure you know the "facts" because you know them personally right ? According to Jim Fitzpatrick , who I'm sure knows more than you, Robbo isn't receiving any royalties from his time in Thin Lizzy. Also, if you had read my comment properly you'd see that I never said Robbo is bitter at any point. I merely said that if he is, he would have reason to be as he's getting ripped off financially. Talking out of my ass huh ? Get your facts straight b4 you criticize someone, idiot.

  • I just read through everything I had posted and I can't figure out how you could possibly have misunderstood any of my comments and gotten your panties in a wad. I made a comment about how unfair it is for Robbo to not be getting paid his share and then quoted Jim Fitzpatrick who shares my point of view. Then things somehow got twisted in your mind and you believed I was saying that Robbo is bitter bc he's not being paid...You must be dumb.
