Richard Childress brought the 3 back in the truck series for his grandson Austin Dillon, who is now in the Nationwide Series running the 3 after winning the championship in the truck series last year. The youngest grandson Ty, took over the #3 truck ride. Richard's also talked about possibly running the 3 again for Austin when he moves up to the Cup Series too.

We had tickets to Darlington and the Brickyard, and heck, we even advised our oldest son that if he planned his wedding for the last week in March, we wouldn't be there! LOL! But, after Dale died, my husband watched &recorded maybe 3 or 4 more races, and he hasn't watched or recorded a single race since then. It truly just hasn't been the same...

This commercial was never bannned! They stopped running it after the passing of Dale Sr. Kinda hard to run this commercial after his tragic death! Even as a #24 fan we miss Sr every race! What would nascar be today with him. He would tell some of these cry babies to shut up and race! Earnhardt was not a talker he spoke with his driving! Lets face facts (which Dale fans don't want to do) he was about done. Look at all the drivers he raced against at the top of his game they are all gone except Mark. I think he may have had that 8th championship in him. But we'll never know. And no driver is superhuman. Dale Earnhardt will be the face of the 80's in NASCAR, and, along with Jeff, the 90's too. The Patriots, The Yankees, etc, All anyone did was say Earnhardt would never be as good as Petty. In the 90's when Gordon was doing amazing things, no one gave him much credit except his fans who were few. They always said that he'd never be as good as Earnhardt. This was nice...and sad at the same time...to watch. I remember the whole race live from my TV in Texas (before i moved to Europe and became an F1 fan). The race was bittersweet because i lost a hero and another favorite won.

After this event, and much later when my all time favorite Dave Marcis retired...NASCAR had changed forever. It has become something more of an event in between sponsor commercials with little teenage drivers who will never match up with the great guys of the past. Ever.
