  • What is the vhs tape in the box and is tg16 related

  • @deathmasterx7 Hey there! Honestly, I haven't watched this vid in so long...I can't remember. Where was it in the vid? Thanks! ha ha.

  • I still have my original box, too. I don't know the date, but it was probably about 91 and I also got the free game deal. I chose Blazing Lazers from the list.

I have to brag a little that I still have the styrofoam inserts that came in the box though. lol

  • @bellooz Excellent!!! Thanks for watching!

  • I remember my Uncle having 1 too Keith Courage in Alpha Zones Scared me as a kid but I actually have a Turbografx-16 Emulator and I also got the game with and find it awesome but I also have a wii and alot of Turbografx-16 Games on it too

  • @TheSegacampGamer Very cool! Thanks for watching!

  • @spida1a but I have to be honest Keith Courage is good it was a Anime in Japan also known as Mashin Eiyuden Wataru or something like that but the Translator weren't thinking Straight when they Translated it to the Turbografx-16 System

  • @TheSegacampGamer Hey, that's cool. I always thought it was an average game at best. But....I know a lot of people who like it. :)

    Thanks again!

  • Sweet Jesus, LMAO!!! I've been watching your TB16 reviews for a while and after seeing your face for the first time your nothing like I pictured you from the sound of your voice. I always pictured you as a 350 lbs man with thick glasses and completely bald.

  • @cathedral94 Well.....I definitely have some weight to lose (and have started that plan!, ha ha). But, I appreciate it! :) :)

  • I just got a Turbo today! I fell in love with the system after playing the games on an emulator and now I'll actually be able to play the real thing! It came with two controllers, a turbostick and a turbotap so as soon as I get some good multiplayer games I'll be good to go. I especially want to get Double Dungeons so I can do the two-player game with my niece (I already love the one-player game and I've been dieing to try the two-player).

  • @bartsimpson83 Thanks for watching!

  • @bartsimpson83: You love Double Dungeons? ...

    ...

  • @LanIost Yeah, what's wrong with that? It doesn't have a lot of depth to it, but it's fun to run around a dungeon beating up monsters. I think the reason most people don't like this game is because to get the most out of it, you really have to use your imagination and a lot of people don't seem to have one.

  • @bartsimpson83 Dungeon Explorer is better. And that one supports up to five players.

  • Nice video. I am currently selling my Neo Geo AES and have a offer were it is part trade. The seller is offering a TurboGrafx-16 with a complete Bonk 2, loose Bonk 1, turbotap, two controllers and a after market AV cable that attaches to the back. What is your opinion of the system. The buyer is also offering 115 plus the system for my Neo Geo AES with controller and one game.

  • @ATARI800XLfan Thanks for watching!

  • ha ha ha... i use to write down the dates as well...that is so odd.. i thought I was the only one who did it..

  • @Retrocool74 Sweet! I'm not the only nut job! :P

  • I remember choosing what to get for my bitrthday back in the 90s a turbo grafx 16 or a sega genesis. I went with the sega genesis which is the model 2 that came with sonic 2 game. I still own it and it works great still. I wish I got the turbo grafx 16 but I liked sonic more. Might pick up a sega nomad if I do then im going to do a screen mod on that cause the original screen is pretty bad.

  • @DJWrath1 Thanks for sharing!!

  • @spida1a The Turbografx-16 is a good system, but it isn't a great system.

Pros: You reviewing this good system, and the many great games we never heard of (i.e. Bonk's Revenge, Dungeon Explorer II, Devil's Crush, etc.)

Cons: Too bad the Turbo had poor packaging, and design (i.e. Keith Courage, No RCA out, no reset button, and no 5 controller ports out of the box)

Overall: The Turbografx would have been a great system if it had a better fate in the U.S., and the games in Japan came to the U.S.

  • @IvoryGecko1993 I agree with you on some of those points, yes. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. ;)

  • id do him if he was gay.

  • @axlr4 This is the best compliment I have gotten in a while. :) :)

  • @spida1a holy crap!!! thats awsome you responded you totally leveld up in my book .

  • @axlr4 I try to when I can. I appreciate my friends here on YT....I need this stuff in my life. :)

    Thanks for watching!!

  • @spida1a you should do a shirtless review...........just a suggestion.

    while reviewing dynastic heroe................

  • @axlr4 Ha ha. Maybe when I lose about forty pounds...... :)

  • @spida1a aww!! thats what so nice about you!

  • @spida1a Hey, the NeoGeo had the option for a free game along with the AES system (either Baseball Stars, or NAM 1975 just to name a few...) except Magician Lord (the Pack-In Game) was a MUCH better packing than Keith Courage in Alpha Zones.

  • Have you checked the box of your CD-Rom for the cover of the console? Maybe you put it in there back then when you just got it...

Also, I recently bought a PAL TurboGrafx mostly because of your great review videos :-). It came with Blazing Lazers and now it seems that sooner or later I'll have to get a US one to "properly" play the games in 60Hz and to have the chance to use the CD Add-on...

  • @Sebion1980 Unfortunately I don't have the CD-ROM box anymore. I'm not a hundred percent where it went. Sigh! :)

    Thanks for watching!

  • What room is that in the house? 'Cause I see Pin*bot there. It's not your gameroom, is it?

  • It was toys R us btw for the free game.

i jumped from a sega master system to the tg16 later buying the nes lol.

so it was like backwards for me lol.

that and when EB actually stocked Neo Geo carts lol

the final selling price of the tg16 retail was $49 ... it was a sad day.

  • @Stevespeeze Interesting. I couldn't remember which place I bought the system from. Ha ha. Thanks for watching!

  • God, if you only seen mine lol...

I only knew two other people that had more than me.

Im looking around your room for a PCFX or Pcengine LT and i dont think i see one sir.

My story was featured in "FOUL MAG" videogame mag out of NY.

  • @Stevespeeze I don't collect anything non-American (the PC-Engine titles were just extras I picked up). But, thanks for watching! :)

  • @spida1a

The turbografx was made overseas,, but sold here.

    better bring it back lol.

  • @Stevespeeze Well, right. I am very aware of this. The PC-Engine was WAY more popular there than here so...there isn't really as much stuff to collect from the US. Since I am from "America" (hence the name "Turbo Views" not "PCE Views," LOL)...I have no nostalgic ties what-so-ever to anything from over the ole' seas. ;)

  • @Stevespeeze

No it literally was made overseas and shipped here lol.

    ACTUALLY LADIES AND GENTS...

The turbografx was the first home console to utilize a cd add on based platform as well. It also came in a case like the tg16 but much larger and had the handle.

TTI use to have a club and magazine (which i subscribed to) that sent Turboplay mag and various promo videos and items. It also uses a booster and booster plus. A/V and memory upgrade to the console.

  • Dude your memories of the TG are exactly like mine, the promo tapes at toys R us, the price drop. The CD ROM was still out of my range though, lol

  • @mogul1265 lol. Got ya'!

Very cool my friend. Thanks for watching!!

  • We had a used TurboGraphx 16 a long time ago. If we do have it still, it doesn't work anymore. I played it for only a brief period, but I really loved this system. It had its charm, and I liked the format of the games (being a thin chip). I liked the design of the system, as well as some of the games I played including Dungeon Explorer, Devil's Crush, Splatterhouse, and World Class Baseball. I do have some of the games on Virtual Console, but I feel like owning the system once again.

  • @InAnimateGamer Thanks for the great story and for watching. :) :)

  • So the TurboGrafx-16 CD-ROM required its own Power Adaptor?

  • @Riddler95 No, only one adapter for both to work. Which was awesome! :)

  • A friend of mine lost his TG-16 in a house fire :(

  • Ugh. That is a shame. Sorry to hear. :(

  • I was looking through some boxes and found my moms old TurboGrafx16 but I like i'm missin some wire or something can some one please tell me where I can find out the wires it needs.

  • never even heard of this system. growing up i was a fan of nintendo and sega. then sony and microsoft via xbox but never ever heard of nec or this turbo 16 thing. seems like it was a lot of fun though

  • I liked it. Most of my friends were Nintendo and Sega Genesis ONLY. You know? So, it was fun playing the underdog. Ha ha! :)

  • Good to see that you still have your original console.

Too bad about the dust cover being gone but, hey, it still works and that's all that really matters.

I eventually sold or traded mine then missed it so badly that I forced myself to buy some games so, that I'd *have* to buy the Turbo Duo when it launched.

There's something about the TG16 and it's games that draw you in and make you want more.

Silly as that sounds it's true and I just don't know any other way to describe it.

  • Great job with the review of this wonderful, awesome and nostalgic machine! Black looks so much cooler than ugly grey (do you hear that, Nintendo!). Anyway love the review, love the system. Thanks man.

  • Hey, thank you. I"m so glad you enjoyed it. Hope to do more very, very soon!

    Thanks again!

  • Its me or it is a whole new PCE/TG-16 fever? suddenly everyone wants to have it.

  • I got my TurboGrafx back in '91 at Montgomery Ward! THEN, I was stupid enough to throw it away?! THEN, I bought it like 3 years ago for more than I paid for in '91! PATHETIC!

  • Nice collection! I still have my TG-16, all my games, and the CD-ROM add on. Keith Courage was the game that drew me to the console! But my favorite game on this system is CHEW MAN FU. JJ & JEFF is also a favorite of mine. Y'S BOOK I & II, and FIGHTING STREET were my favorite CD titles. Wish I picked up the Super CD System card so I could play the Super CD games, but alas I never sent away for one. Oh well.

  • Hey cool! Yeah....I know what you mean. I ended up getting all the American games eventually. You know? I can't explain it.....I just LOVE the system. Hee hee.

Never cared for Keith Courage much. But, the other games you mention I absolutely love. Nice to see another J. J. and Jeff fan (one of the games I reviewed that most people didn't seem to like).

    Thanks for watching! :)

  • I remember the loops they would play at Toys R Us. Thanks for making me feel old!

  • Ugh! I hear you buddy. :(

  • Excellent!

I've just found out about you series of Turbo videos. I still don't know much about the system, I have only played the really big games, such as Ys, and I'm now discovering a few gems on the system. Thanks!

  • Hey great. Thanks a lot for watching!

  • I have to say, you do a really solid job with this entire series of videos. Your passion for the system and its games really carries through each video. Thanks for posting all these.

  • Hey! Thanks so much.

I have such a nostalgic tie to the system, you know? I know that I am in the "minority" (especially being a fan back in the old days as well). But, I can't help but look back fondly on those times. It's a fun side-hobby and I'm glad that I can do it.

    Thanks for watching!!!

  • I always wondered who the kid was on the box. Related to the marketing team of NEC? Child ond hit wonder star? Who knows?

  • That's your's truly.

  • neat little video! now i'm wondering where i put the box for my PC-Engine Duo..... if I ever got it...

  • Lol you look like the guy on the box.

  • Lol. Wow. I can honestly say I have never been told that. Lol.

  • Great video, I'm subscribing.

  • Awesome. Thanks! ;0

  • Thanks! :)

  • Great TG-16 system overview. Well done.

    I just subscribed.

  • Hey, great. Thanks so much!

  • Ahhh good ole' memories!

  • Indeed! ;)

  • I got this system off ebay and couldn't figure out where the darn AC adapter plugged into. Thanks to your video, now I know. Thanks! XD

  • And knowing is half the battle. Hee hee!!

I am glad I could help...and thanks for watching!

  • You should get a turbo express handheld. You can play the exact same games but anywhere you want. I definetly recommend it.

  • It's a great little machine. I'll cover that in another segment sometime. :)

  • Zack Morris approves the TurboGrafx(looks on box)

  • LOL! Ha!

  • wow, what a classic system :)

  • Hee hee. :)

  • Do you happen to have a Turbo Express? You should review it.

  • I do have it, yes. I'll put that on the list. Thanks for watching!

  • I meant to buy a us turbo duo from ebay and acidently purchased a PC engine duo( japanee duo) it plays all my us cds but not us hu-cards and i dont think there is a converter for the japanese duo. I was thinking to sell my pc engine duo for a us duo since it cant play us hu-cards but i just bought the TG-16( us) to take care of that problem, plus i like the blue coloring on the console button and controllers

  • Wow this was 2009 lol

  • Yup! :)

  • one of my games stores i go to might get one ill get it for splatter house and other great games i have read and seen before

  • Excellent review I am really enjoying them. You got a nice collection there also and I find it cool you wrote down the dates of when you bought your games and stuff. I kind of wish that I had done that.

  • I have NO idea why I used to write the dates down. I was SO excited to have something different than a "Nintendo" that.....I guess I wanted to document it. You know?

    Thanks again for watching!

  • Hey Chris. I remember the Turbo machine as well, and the game I remember most is Splaterhouse. Unfortunately, back then, I couldn't afford 2 systems plus the games so I bought the nintendo like everybody else. Really wanted to play the splaterhouse game though. Can't wait for the review, but really look forward to more pinball reviews. Check out my pinball room vids under indypin gameroom and let me know what you think. After all, you got me into the hobby. LOL

  • Excellent video. I just got a used TG-16 from value village as well as a few games last week. I regret trading my original for a genesis back in 91 so I'm really enjoying games like Blazing Lasers, Alien Crush, Galaga 90, and Bonks Adventure. Keep up the great videos. Really enjoy!

  • Hey, thanks a lot. I'm glad you were able to get your system back after all these years. Isn't nostalgia great? :) :)

    Thanks for watching!

  • hello mate,

great reviews, very professional, im just getting into retro collection and think the pc engine / turbo grafex look great, gotta be honest though im lost lost LOST. i wanna play all the jap and american cards and cd's, how many bloody machines have i gotta buy to do that? lol.

  • Hey there! Thanks for the kind words.

What I would do is buy an American "TurboDuo." That's what I use right now to play and record the games (the original system you see in this review and CD attachment is stored away). Then, get a Japanese HuCard converter (about $100, you can see the one I use in the Ninja Gaiden import review) to play Japanese cartridge games. The American CD will play pretty much all Japanese CD games so...........that should get you covered!

  • thanks a lot m8, your a star

  • Good video.

Its fun to re-buy stuff or collect things you never had, but still owning your original machine is the best.

Ive even kept my original Megadrive even though it broke around 14 years ago.

  • Nice review....

I have the original box for my NES and Atari 7800 as well, w/o the packaging/stryofoam as well. I did the same as you, as I take thte boxes and collapse them and store them inside.

  • love ur reviews man!

  • Thanks!!!!!!!

  • Nice to see someone who doesn't swear all the time and is very informative in his reviews. Very professional sir. I know I enjoy your videos. Keep it up.

  • Thanks so much for the compliments.

I find myself slipping a swear in once in a while (especially when my "Angry Nerd-ness" came out in the Darkwing Duck episode, ugh!). But, I don't feel you need to all the time as long as your information is concise, the editing clean and you always show "why you feel the way you do." You know?

    Thanks again!

  • Living in the UK I've only discovered the system recently through the Wii's VC. I have to say I've gotten fond of it and wish I'd gotten the chance to play it when it was first on the scene. New Adventure Island is one of my favourite games and the shooters have all been great.

It's nice to have someone to refer to when I'm considering my next purchase.

  • Well, I'm glad I can help. And yes, New Adventure Island is JUST great. In fact, it was a "request" by someone and will be coming up soon!

  • Aw cool, I look forward to that.

  • @Looktisme good point - seems like all the other reviewers swear like sailors - not that im offended but damn it gets a bit old and kinda juvenile

  • Is that the Bride of Pinbot in the background?

  • That's actually the original Pinbot from 1986. I keep meaning to finish fixing and cleaning that one up. :)

  • Original Pinbot was fun too but my absolute favorite was BOP!! Man I love that game!!

  • Please don't stop making these videos! The TurboDuo has always and will always be my favorite system and I love that other people enjoy it much as I do.

  • Deal! :)

  • Great Review! As always!

  • Thanks!!

  • You R.O.C.K.!! :D

Seriously, these videos are awesome! Not only do you review the games and consoles, but you also bring that nostalgia factor into play.

As always, I can't wait for more. Very professional. :D

  • I'm a very nostalgic person at heart. You know? So, I really like that aspect of everything. Hee hee!

  • Looks sweet. It's a shame that this system wasn't a huge success in America. But hell, the Wii has TG for the virtual consoles. Can't wait to see the CD (probably the only CD base add-on that ever worked for the time).

  • dude kove your show..

    btw did you stop eating?

  • Not stopped eating. Just controlled it. Hee hee!!!

    ;)

  • Great vid as usual, You could do multiplayer games like motorotor or bomberman or the TV sports games or the wrestling game or andre panza kick boxing or....

  • Yeah, definitely! Thanks!

  • Wow man youre collection is awesome, and thats great you wrote the dates on youre boxes, must be really nostalgic :-) well man hope you Have a good day man, great to watch another one of youre videos, :-) take care

  • I don't know why I wrote the date down on paper. But, not that I'm older......I'm glad I did. It makes "looking back" so much fun and easier! :)

  • Great video as always keep up the good work and i will keep watching and spreading the good word about them.

  • Thanks!!!! I appreciate it!

  • excellent video man!! 5 STARS!!

  • Wohoo! Love those stars.

    Thanks for watching!

  • great, great video! I see you have splatterhouse, any chance of reviewing that someday?

  • I got a ton in the backburner. But, I'll gladly put that on on there for ya' Adam. :)

  • i hereby declare you the GOD of youtube.

i bow before skills greater than my own.

in other words: another damn great video Chris.

  • LOL! Thanks!!!

  • You remind me of my big brother, who just so happened to introduce me to not only gaming and arcades, but also the TG-16!

  • Sniff, I wish I had a brother. :) ):

    Thanks for watching!

  • You've got a good voice, and you look pretty good for the camera. Nice organization, btw! I wish I was that organized 8);

  • Wohoo! Glad my double chin doesn't bother you guys as much as it does me. Hee hee!

  • Haha. To be honest, I think that:

A: You lost weight from the Pinball reviews, and

B: My chin problems were solved with a beard. I suppose you would've already considered that by now <:3

  • What a wonderful wonderful video!

Glad to see you in front of the camera again!

    5 stars easy!

  • Thanks!!!!

  • Yeah, I always hated that single port on the system itself.

  • There weren't many things with the system I didn't like. But, that single port was a mistake since nobody else did that at the time (or even before). You know?

  • You were lucky too because you got the system on sale for that 100 dollar deal. I got the system at launch when all the prices were just insane. I was really pissed when I had to buy a Turbo Tap and a extra pad just to play with a friend.

  • Cool i think i got it at the same time for the TG16 afther the price drop.Wich took me selling the nes plus it's games to buy it.

  • Ah, the memories!

  • Sure was the other being, having a part time summer job so i could aford the cd attachment. Also getting teased by friends for not having a genesis or snes in those days :p
